Erm proteins methylate the specific adenine residue ($A_{2058}$, E. coli numbering) on 23S rRNA to confer the $MLS_B$ (macrolidelincosamide-streptogramin B) antibiotic resistance on a variety of microorganisms ranging from antibiotic producers to pathogens. When phylogenetic tree is constructed, two main clusters come out forming each cluster of Actinobacteria and Firmicutes. Two representative Erm proteins from each cluster were selected and their in vitro methylation activities were compared. ErmS and ErmE from Actinobacteria cluster exhibited much higher activities than ErmB and ErmC' from Firmicutes: 9 fold difference when ErmC' and ErmE were compared and 13 fold between ErmS and ErmB. Most of the difference was observed and presumed to be caused by N-terminal and C-terminal extra region from ErmS and ErmE, respectively because NT59TE in which N-terminal end 59 amino acids was truncated from wild type ErmS exhibited only 22.5% of wild type ErmS activity. Meanwhile, even NT59TE showed three and 2.2 times more activity when it was compared to ErmB and C, respectively, suggesting core region from antibiotic producers contains extra structure enabling higher activity. This is suggested to be possible through the extra region of 197RWS199 (from both ErmS and ErmE), 261GVGGSLY267 (from ErmS), and 261GVGGNIQ267 (from ErmE) and 291SVV293 (from ErmS) and 291GAV293 (from ErmE) by multiple sequence alignment.
The Web-based the genus Haliotis SNP database was constructed on the basis of Intel Server Platform ZSS130 dual Xeon 3.2 GHz cpu and Linux-based (Cent OS) operating system. Haliotis related sequences (2,830 nucleotide sequences, 9,102 EST sequences) were downloaded through NCBI taxonomy browser. In order to eliminate vector sequences, we conducted vector masking step using cross match software with vector sequence database. In addition, poly-A tails were removed using Trimmest software from EMBOSS package. The processed sequences were clustered and assembled by TGICL package (TIGR tools) equipped with CAP3 software. A web-based interface (Haliotis SNP Database, http://www.haliotis.or.kr) was developed to enable optimal use of the clustered assemblies. The Clustering Res. menu shows the contig sequences from the clustering, the alignment results and sequences from each cluster. And also we can compare any sequences with Haliotis related sequences in BLAST menu. The search menu is equipped with its own search engine so that it is possible to search all of the information in the database using the name of a gene, accession number and/or species name. Taken together, the Web-based SNP database for Haliotis will be valuable to develop SNPs of Haliotis in the future.

As the development of ICT has made it easier to collect various traffic information, research on creating new traffic attributes is drawing attention. Estimation and forecasts of demand and traffic volume are one of the main indicators that are essential to traffic operation, assuming that the traffic pattern at a particular node or link is repeated. Traditionally, a survey method was used to demonstrate this similarity on trip behavior. However, the method was limited to achieving high accuracy with high costs and responses that relied on the respondents' memory. Recently, as traffic data has become easier to gather through ETC system, smart card, studies are performed to identify the regularity of trip in various ways. In, this study, route-level trip data collected in Daegu metropolitan city were analyzed to confirm that individual traveler forms a spatially similar trip chain over several days. For this purpose, we newly define the concept of spatial trip regularity and assess the spatial difference between daily trip chains using the sequence alignment algorithm, Dynamic Time Warping. In addition, we will discuss the applications as the indicators of fixed traffic demand and transportation services.

Road infrastructure has increased explosively due to economic development after industrialization and at present road infrastructure is being changed and increased by construction of new roads and maintenance and expansion of existing roads. Such road infrastructure should support safe driving. Road management plays an important role in safe driving. The purpose of this dissertation is to verify predictability of dangerous sections by analyzing road geometrical structure such as surface irregularity and superelevation for some sections in Central Inland Expressway by MMS and present ways of managing roads using MMS. Having analyzed surface irregularity of roads by using MMS, it was found that over 50 percent of all eight sections, targets of this study need betterments and for superelevation, over 50 percent of two sections goes against superelevation standard. Targets of this study are sections that accidents occurred frequently based on history of past accidents and predictability of dangerous sections can be verified through analysis of road geometrical structure using MMS. Using MMS data created by construction of high definition maps which are being undergone for all roads and methods proposed by this study will help investigate dangerous sections efficiently according to road environment. A result of MMS can be used for maintenance of road furniture.
Solanum brevicaule is one of the tuber-bearing wild Solanum species. Because of its resistance to several important pathogens infecting potatoes during cultivation, it can be used for potato breeding. However, the fact that S. brevicaule used in this study has an EBN value of two causes the sexual reproduction barriers between the species and cultivated potatoes. In this study, specific markers for discriminating S. brevicaule from other Solanum species were developed on the basis of the results of sequence alignments with the whole chloroplast genomes of S. brevicaule and seven other Solanum species. The chloroplast genome of S. brevicaule was completed by next-generation sequencing technology described in other recent studies. The total sequence length of the chloroplast genome of S. brevicaule is 155,531 bp. Its structure and gene composition are similar to those of other Solanum species. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that S. brevicaule was closely grouped with other Solanum species. BLASTN search showed that its genome sequence had 99.99% and 99.89% identity with those of S. spegazzinii (MH021562) and S. kurtzianum (MH021495), respectively. Sequence alignment identified 27 SNPs that were specific to S. brevicaule. Thus, three PCR-based CAPS markers specific to S. brevicaule were developed on the basis of these SNPs. This study will facilitate in further studies on evolutionary and breeding aspects in Solanum species.
The safety diagnosis of cultural assets is Primarily focused on its non-destructiveness. Research on the nondestructive diagnosis and conservation of masonry cultural heritage is the key which is considered by technologic kernel. Geophyscial Prospecting as nondestructive diagnostic technology plays an important role in the characterization of the foundation of stone pagodas. It is natural that understanding of shallow subsurface condition beneath them is essential for their structural safety diagnosis. As an example, the nondestructive geophysical methods were applied to two three-story stone pagodas, Seokgatap (height 10.8 m, width 4.4 m, weight 82.3 ton) and Dabotap (height 10.4 m, width 7.4 m, weight 123.2 ton) which were built in 791 at Bulkuksa temple. An earlier archaeological investigation shows that stone pagodas have experienced severe weathering process and are slightly leaning, which will threaten their stability At the base part of Dabotap, an offset of the stone alignment is also observed. Direct measurements of ultrasonic velocities was introduced for the mechanical properties of the stone The velocity ranges of ultrasonic waves for Dabotap and Seokgatap are 1217${\~}$4403 m/s and 584${\~}$5845 m/s, respectively, and the estimated averages of the uniaxial compressive strength are 463 kg/$cm^2$ and 409 kg/$cm^2$, respectively. Site characteristics, around the pagodas are determined by the measurement of multiple properties such as seismic velocity, resistivity, image of ground-penetrating radar, On the basis of the higher velocity structure, the site of Seokgatap appears to have solider stability than the Seokgatap site. Near the pagodas, higher(up to 2200 $\Omega$m) resistivity is present whereas their outskirts have as low as 200 $\Omega$m. By the combined results of each geophyscial methods, the subsurface boundaries of two stone pagodas are revealed. The Dabotap site is in the form of an octagon having 6-m-long side with the depth of ${\~}$4 m, whereas the Seokgatap site is the 8 ${\times}$ 10 m rectangle with the depth of 3 m. These subsurface structures appear to reflect the original foundations constructed against the stone load of ${\~}8 ton/m^2$. At the subsurface beneath the northeast of each pagoda, low seismic velocity as well as low resistivity is prominent. It is interpreted to represent the weak underground condition which Is the possible cause of the slightly leaning pagodas toward the NNW.

Due to unprecedented extreme weather events such as global warming and climate change, many parts of the world suffer from severe pain, and economic losses are also snowballing. In order to address these problems, 'The Paris Agreement' was signed in 2016, and an intergovernmental consultative body was formed to keep the average temperature rise of the Earth below 1.5℃. Korea also declared 'Carbon Neutrality in 2050' to prevent climate catastrophe. In particular, it was found that the increase in temperature caused by greenhouse gas emissions hurts the environment and society as a whole, as well as the export-dependent economy of Korea. In addition, as the diversification of transportation types is accelerating, the change in means of choice is also increasing. As the development paradigm in the low-growth era changes to urban regeneration, interest in idle railway sites is rising due to reduced demand for routes, improvement of alignment, and relocation of urban railways. Meanwhile, it is possible to partially achieve the solar power generation goal of 'Renewable Energy 3020' by utilizing already developed but idle railway sites and take advantage of being free from environmental damage and resident acceptance issues surrounding the location; but the actual use and plan for these solar power facilities are still lacking. Therefore, in this study, using the big data provided by the Korea National Railway and the Renewable Energy Cloud Platform, we develop an algorithm to discover and analyze suitable idle sites where solar power generation facilities can be installed and identify potentially applicable areas considering conditions desired by users. By searching and deriving these idle but relevant sites, it is intended to devise a plan to save enormous costs for facilities or expansion in the early stages of development. This study uses various cluster analyses to develop an optimal algorithm that can derive solar power plant locations on idle railway sites and, as a result, suggests 202 'actively recommended areas.' These results would help decision-makers make rational decisions from the viewpoint of simultaneously considering the economy and the environment.
This study aims to analyze actual conditions of the present national defense information network operation, the structure and management of the system, communication lines, security equipments for the lines, the management of network and software, stored data and transferred data and even general vulnerable factors of our army tactical C4I system. Out of them, by carrying out an extensive analysis of the army tactical C4I system, likely to be the core of future information warfare, this study suggested plans adaptive to better information security, based on the vulnerable factors provided. Firstly, by suggesting various information security factor technologies, such as VPN (virtual private network), IPDS (intrusion prevention & detection system) and firewall system against virus and malicious software as well as security operation systems and validation programs, this study provided plans to improve the network, hardware (computer security), communication lines (communication security). Secondly, to prepare against hacking warfare which has been a social issue recently, this study suggested plans to establish countermeasures to increase the efficiency of the army tactical C4I system by investigating possible threats through an analysis of hacking techniques. Thirdly, to establish a more rational and efficient national defense information security system, this study provided a foundation by suggesting several priority factors, such as information security-related institutions and regulations and organization alignment and supplementation. On the basis of the results above, this study came to the following conclusion. To establish a successful information security system, it is essential to compose and operate an efficient 'Integrated Security System' that can detect and promptly cope with intrusion behaviors in real time through various different-type security systems and sustain the component information properly by analyzing intrusion-related information.

Despite vehicle instability problems caused by gusts of wind on freeways located in mountain or seaside areas, current national highway design standards overlook their detrimental effects, and if higher design speed freeways being proposed now by the government are in operation, the strong effect of the gust of wind becomes a highway alignment design issue. This paper presents the vehicle movements and their resulting safety effects by checking vehicle sliding and overturn based on vehicle dynamic analysis for the case when a gust of wind blows to vehicles negotiating curves on higher speed freeways. In this analysis, vehicle types, curve radii, motorist responsive time to vehicle driving path changes, and vehicle speeds are systematically arranged to get vehicle sliding and overturn values in each different conditions. The results showed that there were little overturn possibilities when wind speed would stay in 50m/sec with higher than 600 meter curve radii. Interestingly it was also found in sliding checks that, although being safe at less than 15.0m/sec wind speed levels, there appeared the need of vehicle travel prohibitions when the wind speed could exceed 25.0m/sec level. The findings in this research is of information in future higher speed freeway designs, and particularly useful when designing freeways passing frequent gust wind areas.
Many geometric curves are presented as representative form of normal dental arches by many authors; circle, ellipse, parabola or catenary curve. Among them those except circle seems difficult to be adopted as a guide in ideal arch form construction and practically many orthodontists chose circle as a standard. Author preferred circle of Bonwill's theory in study of anterior teeth alignment of Korean adults. Eighty three dental models which possess proper occlusion and good arch form were selected and copies of their occlusal surfaces obtained by Ricopy machine. The use of Ricopy machine made it possible to draw arch form exactly. Mesiodistal widths of six anterior teeth were measured and they were added to combined mesiodistal width of six anterior teeth. Circle, that include the points of two cuspal tips of canines and one incisal edge of central incisor were drawn. Distances of lateral incisors that are deviated from arc of this circle were measured and classified into four grades by degree and three groups by kind of teeth deviated. By counting the number of samples involved degree of fit of the circle to arch contour of Korean adult was described. Then, size of radius of circle, intercanine width and intermolar width were measured and evaluated their ratios to combined mesiodistal width of six anterior teeth. In normal occlusion of Korean adult anterior teeth seems to be arranged on an arc of circle the radius of which is similar to combined mesiodistal width of six anterior teeth. Intercanine width and intermolar width have rather constant ratios to combined width of six anterior teeth.
