  • In this study, joint angles of the lower extremity and tibial acceleration and angular velocity were measured during a snowboard simulator exercises in order to evaluate the skill of snowboarders. Ten unskilled and ten expert snowboarders were recruited for the study. A three-dimensional motion capture system and two inertial sensor modules were used to acquire joint movements, acceleration and angular velocity of the lower extremities during snowboard simulator exercises. Pattern variations were calculated to assess variations in the snowboard simulator motion of unskilled and expert snowboarders. Results showed that expert snowboarders showed greater range of motion in joint angles and greater peak to peak amplitude in acceleration and angular velocity for tibia than unskilled snowboarders. The unskilled snowboarders did not show symmetrical shape(same magnitude but opposite direction) in tibial angular velocity during two edge turns in snowboard simulator exercises. The expert snowboarders showed smaller pattern variations for joint angle of lower extremity, tibial acceleration and tibial angular velocity than unskilled snowboarders. Inertial sensor data and pattern variations during the snowboard simulator exercises could be useful to evaluate the skill of snowboarders.

  • Because of the slope failure, not only property damage but also human damage can occur, slope stability analysis should be conducted to predict and reinforce of the slope. This paper, defines the ground areas that can be characterized in terms of slope failure such as Rockmass jointset, Rockmass fault, Soil, Leakage water and Crush zone in sloped images. As a result, it was shown that the deep learning instance segmentation network can be used to recognize and automatically segment the precise shape of the ground region with different characteristics shown in the image. It showed the possibility of supporting the slope mapping work and automatically calculating the ground characteristics information of slopes necessary for decision making such as slope reinforcement.

  • It is well known that the addition of CaO-SiO$_2$to Mn-Zn ferrites forms an insulating grain bounary layer with high electrical resistivity. This study investigated the effect of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ on the electromagnetic properties of high frequency low loss Mn-Zn ferrites. The addition of 300ppm Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ developed an exaggerated grain growth while the addition of CaO-SiO$_2$addition with 200ppm Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ more effectively increased the density than that without Nb$_2$O$_{5}$. The addition of Nb$_2$O$_{5}$ showed the lower power loss below 100 ppm SiO$_2$and the Nb$_2$O$_{5}$-CaO addition lowered the power loss at higher sintering temperature.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and the clinical applicability of the adenosine-triphosphate-based chemotherapy response assay (ATP-CRA) as a method of determining in vitro chemosensitivity in patients with gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: A total of 243 gastric cancer tissue samples were obtained from gastrectomies performed between February 2007 and January 2010. We evaluated the effectiveness of the ATP-CRA assay in determining the chemosensitivity of gastric cancer specimens using eleven chemotherapeutic agents - etoposide, doxorubicin, epirubicin, mytomicin, 5-fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, irinotecan, docetaxel, paclitaxel, methotraxate, and cisplatin - for chemosensitivity studies using ATP-CRA. We assessed the failure rate, the cell death rate, and the chemosensitivity index. Results: The failure rate of ATP-CRA was 1.6% (4/243). The mean coefficient of variation for triplicate ATP measurements was 6.5%. Etoposide showed the highest cell death rate (35.9%) while methotrexate showed the lowest (16.6%). The most active chemotherapeutic agent was etoposide, which most frequently ranked highest in the chemosensitivity test: 31.9% (51/160). Oxaliplatin was more active against early gastric cancers than advanced gastric cancers, whereas docetaxel was more active against advanced cancers. The lymph node negative group showed a significantly higher cell death rate than the lymph node positive group when treated with doxorubicin, epirubicin, and mitomycin. Conclusions: ATP-CRA is a stable and clinically applicable in vitro chemosensitivity test with a low failure rate. The clinical usefulness of ATP-CRA should be evaluated by prospective studies comparing the regimen guided by ATP-CRA with an empirical regimen.

  • In this paper, we propose an IoT-enabled solution for tour photography services with small-size investment and resources in the travel and tourism industries, being able to impact on economic, social, and cultural values. An IoT-enabled camera is developed based on an open hardware and software platform complying with oneM2M, which can make traditional embedded systems oneM2M-compliant devices due to a middleware solution called TAS (thing adaptation software). IoT cameras deployed around photo zones in a tour site could be remotely controlled via an IoT gateway with a Web-based application on a smartphone. Users would perform a pan and tilt camera control if they want and then take and download a perfect photo picture (even though they are away from the tour site). We expect that the proposed solution will promote the deployment IoT-enabled technologies in tour and travel industries which are important parts of the tertiary sector.

  • In this study, joint angles of the lower extremity and inertial sensor data such as accelerations and angular velocities were measured during a ski simulator exercise in order to evaluate the skill of skiers. Twenty experts and twenty unskilled skiers were recruited for the study. All expert skiers held the certificates issued by the Korea Ski Instructors Association. A three-dimensional motion capture system and two inertial sensors were used to acquire joint movements, heel acceleration and heel angular velocity during ski simulator exercises. Pattern variation values were calculated to assess the variations in ski simulator motion of expert and unskilled skiers. Integral ratio of roll angular velocity was calculated to determine the parallel alignment of the two feet. Results showed that ski experts showed greater range of motion of joint angle, peak-to-peak amplitude(PPA) of heel acceleration and PPA of heel angular velocity than unskilled skiers. Ski experts showed smaller pattern variations than unskilled skiers. In addition, the integral ratio of roll angular velocity in ski experts was closer to 1. Inertial sensor data measurements during the ski simulator exercises could be useful to evaluate the skill of the skier.

  • Micron-sized dextran particles, which now attract wide attention as a promising drug delivery systems, can be prepared via the supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) process. In SAS process, dextran particles are obtained as a result of recrystallization of dissolved dextran in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on addition of supercritical $CO_2$ as an anti-solvent. In this work, with an intention to provide information on the feasible operating conditions of the process, the phase behavior of Dexran/DMSO/$CO_2$ is observed by measuring the cloud point in favor of a variable volume cell. From the experimental study, it is concluded that a feasible operating condition of the SAS process for preparation of dextran particles would be 300.15 K~330.15 K and 90 bar~130 bar, respectively, and solute concentration ranges from 5mg/ml to 20 mg/ml.

  • The transfer mechanism of optical information at the interface of air and glass (the air-glass IF) has been investigated by thoroughly fulfilling the theoretical and experimental analyses regarding the FTIR (Frustrated Total Internal Reflection) and moisture effects on the fingerprint onto a glass cup with water. As for the fingerprint onto a glass cup with water its image was observed to be very vivid, which turned out to be due to the difference between the two light intensities reflected on the air-glass IF and the wet fingerprint ridge by manipulating the optical theories such as Fresnel relation, Snell's law, FTIR, GT (general transmission) and so on. In addition, the experimental inspection for FTIR and moisture effects on the fingerprint image also evidenced the fact that the vivid fingerprint image originated from the moisture effect rather than the FTIR phenomenon.

  • To make certain of the white tip infection on rice, nematodes isolated from the rice seeds grown at Chongdo-goon Isu-myun and Kimje-goon Chooksan-myun were artificially inoculated and their pathway was studied. Also, studies were made for the hot water seed treatment as a measure of white tip control at different levels of water temperature and their germinablity was checked. The results are summarized as follows; 1. Causal nematodes survive in the paddy soil and cause white tip year after year. 2. Causal nematodes can survive in the rice seeds as long as the seeds loose their germinability. 3. Causal nematodes can disseminate throught the irrigation water. 4. Causal nematodes can disseminate through the soil move from a place to other place. 5. Causal nematodes can infect all of the parts of the rice and they can disseminate through any of the parts of rice. 6. The hot water treatment at 5$0^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes were not effective controlling causal nematodes. But, either treatment of at 55$^{\circ}C$ for 15-20 minutes or at 6$0^{\circ}C$ for 10-15 minutes were effective and germination of seeds was not affected.
