Performance Comparison of S-MMA Adaptive Equalization Algorithm by Slice Weighting Value in 16-QAM Signal (16-QAM 신호에서 Slice 가중치에 의한 S-MMA 적응 등화 알고리즘의 성능 비교)

  • This paper compare the performance of S-MMA(Sliced-MultiModulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm by effect of slice weighting value for the minimization of the distortion and noise in the communication channel.. In the traditional MMA algorithm, the output signal of equalizer and the dispersion constant of transmitting signal is used for calculating the equalizer coefficient, but in S-MMA, the output of equalizer and dispersion constant and the considering the output of decision device by the power of slice constant are used in order to simultaneously compensate the distortion of amplitude and phase distortion. It is confirmed by computer simulation that the slice weighting value affects the performance of adaptive equalization algorithm. The performance index includes the output signal constellation, the residual isi and maximum distortion and MSE that is for the convergence characteristics, the SER according to the signal and noise power ratio at the channel is used. As a result of simulation, the residual isi, maximum distortion and MSE performances are better in the small weighting values. But in SER performance is better in the large weighting values.

  • This paper relates with the eualization performance of Constellation Matching-MMA (CM-MMA) in order to the consists of optimum receiver for the minimization of intersymbol interference and additive noise effects that is occurs in the nonlinear communication channel. The error signal were obtained that combines the Constellation Matching technique that inserts the zero point between the signal point of equalizer for improving the residual isi and convergence speed compared to the currently used MMA algorithm. In the initial state of adaptive equalization, it depends on the MMA characteristics mainly. And in the steady state, it depends on the CM characteristics mainly. In order to analyzing the equalization performance, the output signal constellation, residual isi, maximum distortion, MSE and SER were applied, then it were compared with the present MMA algorithm. As a result of computer simulation, the CM-MMA has more better performance in the every performance index, and it was also confirmed that the constellation matching effect can be obtained in the greater than 20dB signal to noise ratio.

  • This paper deals with the performance comparison and evaluation of blind adaptive equalizer, the PMCMA-MDD and DW-MCMA, that is used for compensation of the amplitude and phase distortion which occurs in the time dispersive channel. Basically, these algorithms are modification of MCMA cost function in order to obtain the fast convergence speed and reduced residual isi by taking the parallel and serial double structured and the combination of the concept of RCA for the updating the tap coefficient. We implements the algorithm of it and compare the recovered constellation, residual isi, MSE characteristics curve and SER in the signal to noise ratio given the time dispersive channel. As a result of simulation, the PMCMA-MDD has a good in recovered constellation than DW-MCMA. But in the SER, the DW-MCMA has a good than PMCMA-MDD.

  • This paper evaluates the equalization algorithm of FC-MMA (Fast Convergence-Multi Modulus Algorithm) and RMMA (Region based Multi Modulus Algorithm) for the compensation of intersymbol interference which is due to the distortion of communication channel. In order to obtain the error signal for adaptive equalization, the FC-MMA use the modified dispersion constant considering the number of signal symbol, the RMMA separates the 4 region which every symbol points are located, then reduce the symbol point based on this region into constant modulus symbol point. By applying the different principle in order to get the error signal for the updating the tap coefficient of adaptive equalizer, it has the different equalization performance by these error signal. The computer simulation was performed in order to compare the different equalization performance in this paper. The performance index includes the output signal constellation, the residual isi and maximum distortion that is for the convergence characteristics, the SER. As a result of computer simulation, RMMA has more good performance in the residual isi, maximum distortion after in steady state and SER performance than FC-MMA, but not in convergence speed to reach the steady state.

  • This paper deals with the FC-MMA (Fast Convergence-Multi Modulus Algorithm) which is improving the convergence characteristics of the MMA (Multiple Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm that is used for the minimization of the intersymbol interference which occurs in the time dispersive communication channel. In the time varying charateristics and the abnormal situation like as outage of the communication channel, the adaptive equalizer needs to adapting the new environment more rapidly. For this problem, the residual isi and the maximum distortion performance index which are meaning the convergence characteristics are widely adapted in the adaptive equalizer. The 16-QAM signal is transmitted and it was confirmed that the proposed algorithm, the FC-MMA has the fast convergence performance such as in the 1.75 times fast in residual isi and 2.5 times fast in the maximum distortion in order to reaching the steady state compare to the MMA algorithm in the same channel environment by the computer simulation.

  • This paper deals with AM-SMMA (Adaptive Modulus-SMMA) adaptive equalization algorithm that is possible to improves the equalization performance using adaptive modulus which is propotional to the output signal power of equalizer in the current SMMA algorithm. The fixed statistic modulus of transmitted QAM signal is used in current SMMA algorithm in order to generate the error signal for updating the tap coefficient of equalizer. The adaptive modulus which is propotion to the equalizer output signal power is used in the proposed AM-SMMA. The computer simulation was performed in order to confirm the improved equalization performance of proposed algorithm. The performance index includes the output signal constellation, the residual isi and maximum distortion that is for the convergence characteristics, the SER. As a result of computer simulation, the residual isi, maximum distortion are better in the small weighting values. But in SER performance is better in the large weighting values.

  • The signal in wireless multi-path channel is affected by fading and ISI because of high data rate transmission, so the signal has the high error rate. The present modulation and demodulation method of DSRC system can not expect sufficient for providing data service over 1 Mbps, so the channel equalization and advanced modulation and demodulation methods are required. OFDM is generally known as an effective technique for high data rate transmission system, since it can prevent ISI by inserting a guard interval. However, a guard interval longer than channel delay spread has to be used in each OFDM symbol period, thus resulting a considerable loss in the efficiency of channel utilization Therefore the equalizer is necessary to cancel ISI to accommodate advanced ITS service with higher bit rate and longer channel delay spread condition In this paper, the channel equalizer for the OFDM -DSRC system was designed and its performance in a multi-path fading environment was evaluated with computer simulation.

A Case Report on Two Psoriasis Patients with Insomnia (불면증상을 동반한 건선 환자 치험 2례)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to present two treatment cases of psoriasis with insomnia. Methods: We administered Guibi-tang medication to the psoriasis patients with insomnia and tested the results by Psoriasis Area and Severity Index(PASI) and Insomnia Severity Index(ISI) as well. Results: After the treatment both the patients showed improvements in PASI and ISI as well. PASI of Patient 1 changed from 15.2 to 1.2 along with the change of ISI from 27 to 2. In case of Patient 2, PASI changed from 14.6 to 1.8 while ISI changed from 21 to 6. Conclusions: The results suggest that Guibi-tang can be an effective treatment for insomnia and psoriasis as well. Further studies will be needed to demonstrate conclusively the effect of Guibi-tang on psoriasis cure.

Transmission Performance Improvement Using Brightness Deviation for Visual-MIMO System (Visual-MIMO 시스템에서 휘도편차를 이용한 전송 성능 향상)

  • Recently, research on the Visual-MIMO by applying the concept of MIMO to communication between the LED array and camera is in progress. Although we already introduced the method for bit decision by using reference LED array pattern, it has the disadvantage of measuring the ISI each time when there is a change in the distance. To overcome this, in this paper, we propose a bit decision and error correction method used by using the luminance deviation without using the reference array pattern. First, we execute the bit decision using experimentally determined threshold. Next, we execute the error checking on the ON-LED and make a correction only if it is found to be error. Correction is determined by using the value of brightness deviation corresponding to the range of 68.2% (1) around the maximum frequency of the histogram for each ON-LED. We verify the performance of the proposed method according to the variation of ISI with distance by using both numerical and experimental analysis.

  • This paper relates the AM-NM-MMA algorithm which possible to adaptive equalization performance improvement using the adaptive modulus instead of fixed modulus in the NM-MMA algorithm. The NM-MMA emerged for the tradeoff the MMA and SE-MMA algorithm characteristics, the MMA provides the less residual values in the steady state and have a slow convergence rate, the SE-MMA provides the fast convergence rate and increae the risidual values in the steady state. But the fixed modulus can not give the zero residual values in the perfect equalization state and eqaulization performance were degrade, the adaptive modulus was applied in order to reducing the residual values, and its improved performance were confirmed by simulation. For this, the equalizer output constellation, residual isi, MD, MSE, SER were used for performance index. As a result of computer simulation, the AM-NM-MMA has more good performance in equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MD, MSE than the NM-MMA, but not in SER performance.
