컴퓨터를 이용한 각종 정보처리 기기들이 대중화되고 다양한 텔리매틱 서비스에 대한 수요가 점차 늘어감에 따라 종합정보통신망(ISDN)에 대한 필요성이 높아지고 있다. ISDN으로의 전개에 따라 현재의 공중통신망의 유지보수와 다른 형태의 유지보수 체계의 정립이 필요하다. 본고에서는 ISDN의 가입자 액세스 및 공통선 신호방식의 채택에 따른 유지보수에 대해 고찰하였다.

본 고에서는 Bellcore 에서 제시한 ISDN 의 신뢰도 및 가용도를 BRA(Basic Rate Access) 와 PRA(Primary Rate Access) 각각에 대해서 살펴보았다 또한 표준의사접속 (HRC : Hypothetical Reference Connection) 을 근간으로 해서 ISDN 의 신뢰도 목표치와 가용도 목표치를 제시하였다 Bellcore에서 제시한 ISDN 스위칭 시스팀의 신뢰도 성능 목표치는 22개의 신뢰도 파라미터와 목표치로 정의 되었으며, 22개의 신뢰도 파라미터 는 Downtimes, cutoff call probability, Ineffective machine attempt(IMA) probability 와 Failure intensity 등 4개의 종류로 나누어서 제시하였다.

1968년 ARPA 네트워크의 출현 이후 음성 서비스 위주의 네트워크와 데이터 서비스 위주의 네트워크는 서로의 서비스를 수용하기 위해 노력해왔다. 음성 기반의 네트워크에서 데이터를 수용하기 위한 노력은 ‘꿈의 망’으로 그친 ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network)으로 나타났고, 데이터 기반의 네트워크에서 음성을 수용하기 위한 노력은 보편적인 비연결형 데이터 서비스와는 대비되는 B-ISDN(Broadband-ISDN)으로 나타났다. 이후 다시 B-ISDN은 IP 서비스의 수용을 위해 ATM 교환기를 MPLS(Multi Protocol Label Switching) 교환기로 대치하여 보완하고 있지만, VoIP(Voice over IP)등 음성서비스의 제공에는 아직 완전한 해법이 제시되지 못하고 있다.(중략)

최근 산업이 고도화, 첨단화 되면서 정보통신에 대한 다양한 요구가 급증하고 있으며 이러한 현상은 컴퓨터 기술의 발전과 광통신기술의 발전에 힘입어 더욱 가속화되고 있다. 이에 정부에서는 2000년대 기술 선진국 입국을 목표로 여러가지 분야에 대한 장기연구개발 계획을 세웠으며 그중 이러한 정보통신 요구에 부응하기 위한 계획이 B-ISDN 연구개발 계획이다. 본 고에서는 B-ISDN에 대한 간단한 기술 검토와 더불어 HAN 프로젝트중 한국통신이 주관기관으로 그리고 한국전자통신 연구소가 협력 연구기관으로 선정되어 수행한 B-ISDN 연구개발 계획에 관하여 간단히 기술한다.

최근 들어 초고속통신에 많이 이용되는 ADSL의 경우 케이블(bundle)안에 ISDN이나 HDSL이 제공되는 경우, 대역이 부분적으로 중첩되거나 불완전한 대역 필터링 때문에 그에 따른 spill-over 혼선 잡음의 영향을 받게 된다. 본 논문에서는 유선 선로에서 ISDN과 HDSL에 의한 ADSL의 성능 저하를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 이들에 의한 spill-over 혼선잡음은 ADSL의 성능에 많은 저하를 가져오며, 특히 HDSL의 경우 심각한 혼선잡음을 일으킴을 확인하였다.

ISDN AO/DI provides efficient communication. It dynamically allocates channels for bandwidth, which is key component for packet data communication. In this paper, we analyze performance improvement of ISDN AO/DI system with buffering scheme and compare with AO/DI system without buffering scheme. From the simulation of AO/DI with buffering scheme, we see that the required bandwidth is less than of the AO/DI system without buffering scheme.

In this paper, we propose the protocol stact and the server functions of IWU which interconnects distributed LAN's users by using of B-ISDN. The protocol stact of interconnecting IWU under consideration users TCP/IP in upper layer. TCP/IP is popular communication protocol in interconnecting distributed LANs. The interconnecting IWU has server functions for transfering datagrams to B-ISDN such as address translation, fragment and reassembly, CL server, signalling and traffic control. We analyze the performance ofinterconnecting IWU with M/M/1/K queueing model and obtain the throughput and buffer size of interconnecting IWU.

A standard on talker echo for ISDN telophone, mainly consisting of those on sending and receiving loudness ratings and terminal coupling loss(TCL), is necessary. Accordingly, if sending and receiving loudness ratings are pre-determined, we need a standard on TCL providing echo-free telephone communications to telephone users, and the standard can be classified into that weighted TCL($TCL_w$) and that on stability loss. In this paper, in order to make a national standard on TCL, based on users' perceived quality on a talker echo, we conducted user opinion tests on talker echo. From the results of correlation between echo and user opinion on quality and measurement on TCL of telephones, we proposed the standard as follows; we must preserve TCL_w of at least 40dB and stability loss of at least 10dB when overall loudness rating for ISDN telephone, sum of sending and receiving loudness ratings, is normalized to 10dB.

본 고에서는 ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode)기반으로 개발되고 있는 광대역 종합정보통신망(B-ISDN: Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network)의 구조 및 이를 기반으로 제공할 수 있는 광대역 서비스의 형태에 대해 기술한다. 또한 B-ISDN의 기술적 목표가 되는 ATM 기술과 관련된 최근의 표준 동향, ATM 통신 장비의 개발 및 서비스 개발 현황에 대하여 살펴본다.
