In this paper, we describe the design consideration and the system configuration of the AV service terminal which supports the multiple services simultaneously. We present a service control scheme to support the multiple services in the limited network capability and system hardware capability. The system was developed in the form of an add-on board in a PC system based on N-ISDN BRI. Through the field test in domestic N-ISDN, we confirmed the interoperability and robustness of the system. At present, the developed system can basically support the videoconference service. Also the system can support the multimedia retrieval service, messaging service, fine transmission, and group working environment.

In this paper,we propose applicable methodology using simple scenarios for the architecture and its procedure of sibnalling at the NNI for B-ISDN in Korea.By the recent technologies,the flexible and intergrated networks of the future are designed, and the infrastructure hardware and software of those networks are sdsigned based on the modular concepts.Also the ATM-based B-ISDN must be able to support the broadband transmission function for providing various services with diverse bandwidths such as multimedia serivce and the function for controlling services and bandwidth is necessaty.Currently,the trquirements at the NNI for B-ISDN in korea atr based on the network mode connection type which is connection setup strucuture.They must show the upper/lower layer conformance to have the flexibility in new services and guarantee the interoperability between the network functions.But,network functions and protocol specifications described in this paper are limity to the first stage target system in korea.Therefore,we present the modular architecture which is corresponding to the B-ISUP of HAN/B-ISDN with those characteristics.Currently applicable architecture and procedure for B-ISUP and the functions of expandable modular architecture are also proposed.

It is the purpose of this paper to describe the methods for establishing loudness ratings and talker echo out of transmission quality of ISDN telephone connected to fully digital network. In order to design the desirable loudness ratings and talker echo for ISDN telephone, the model system of digital speech communication for subjective tests is developed. Using this model system, opinion tests which decide the optimal CODEC input level, the range of overall loudness rating, sidetone masking rating and talker echo are performed. From the results of tests, we decided that the loudness ratings are 6 to 8dB for sending, 0 to 2dB for receiving, and 8 to 12dB for sidetone masking rating. And, the terminal coupling loss of TCLw of at least 40dB is necessary to provide echo-free telephone communications to telophone users when the overall loudness rating of ISDN telephone is normalized to 10dB.

In this paper, we deal with to survey a narrow band ISDN transmission capability through the local subscriber line in Korea. First, we disscuss international activity trends of technical references required for a narrow band ISDN services using existing pair cables. Second, we have measured transmission characteristics to send digital signals at 144kbps ratio through the local subscriber line With this result, we have found that 3.6% of measured lines are not availlable for a narow band ISDN channel, obtained a conclusion that the input level of U-transceiver should be more than -31dBm so as to assure the sufficient digital transmission quality. We also know that majority noise cased by transmission error are due to impulsive noise and near end crosstalk. Fianlly. as a result of the BER measruement, it is observed that, within 2.5km, more than 70% of measured cables are satisfied with the reference quality.

Typical integrated service digital network(ISDN) switching systems have several shortcomings including cumulated long call set-up delay and difficulty in higher speed packet communication. The problems come from the nature of X.25 packet swiching technique used in the systems. In this thesis, to solve the above problems, the use of frame relay service within the TDX-10 ISDN switching system is proposed and a frame handling susbsystem(FHS) is designed in order to support the high speed frame relay service in the TDX-10 switching systems. In the proposed TDX-10 architecture, the 64 Kbps packet communication can be executed more ef- ficiently and high speed packet communication is allowed. To measure theperformance characteristics of the proposed systemand to compare the performance with that of the proposed system is superior to that of the existion system and to compare the performance with that of the proposed system is superior to that of the existing system. The proposed switching system offers a seamless evolutionalry path from Narrowband-ISDNto Broadband-ISDNsince itallows anefficient channelutilization and speed packet communication.
