Temperature Dependency of Non-dispersive Infrared Carbon Dioxide Gas Sensor by using Infrared Sensor for Compensation (보상용 적외선 센서를 사용한 비분산 적외선 이산화탄소 센서의 온도특성)

  • NDIR $CO_2$ gas sensor was built with ASIC implemented thermopile sensor which included temperature sensor and unique elliptical waveguide structures in this paper. The temperature dependency of dual infrared sensor module ($CO_2$ and reference IR sensors) has been characterized and its output voltage characteristics according to the temperature and gas concentration were proposed for the first time. NDIR $CO_2$ gas and reference IR sensors showed linear output voltages according to the variation of ambient temperatures from 243 K to 333 K and their slopes were 14.2 mV/K and 8.8 mV/K, respectively. The output voltages of temperature sensor also presented a linear dependency according to the ambient temperature and could be described with V(T)=-3.191+0.0148T(V). The output voltage ratio between $CO_2$ and reference IR sensors revealed irrelevant to the changes of ambient temperatures and gave a constant value around 1.6255 with standard deviation 0.008 at 0 ppm. The output voltage of $CO_2$ gas sensor at zero ppm $CO_2$ gas consisted of two components; one is caused by the HPB (half pass-band) of IR filter and the other is attributed to the part of $CO_2$ absorption wavelength. The characteristics of output voltages of $CO_2$ gas sensor could be accurately modeled with three parameters which are dependent upon the ambient temperatures and represented small average error less than 1.5% with 5% standard deviation.

  • 본 논문에서는 광학센서와 적외선 센서를 사용하는 Multi-sensor 시스템에서 영상 정보를 통한 물체의 추적 및 인식에 필요한 영상을 분리하는데 필요한 전처리와 object 기반의 추적 방법을 제안하였다. 일반적인 추적 알고리즘의 목표는 consistency를 유지하는데 있다. 그러나 인식에 필요한 영상을 분리하기 위해서는 물체의 범위를 정확히 판단 할 수 있는 능력이 중요하다. 이를 위해 CCD와 IR영상에 동시에 적용 가능한 전처리 기법과 object 기반의 two-step 추적 알고리즘을 통해 consistency외에도, 물체의 범위를 estimation하여 인식에 필요한 범위를 분리해 낸다. 본 논문에서는 ITS 의 ETCS application을 위해 이종 센서인 CCD와 IR의 야간 차량 영상정보를 이용하여 알고리즘을 test 하였다.

Black Body Design and Verification for Non-Uniformity Correction of Imaging Sensor and Uncertainty Analysis (영상센서의 비균일 응답특성 보정을 위한 흑체 설계 및 성능검증과 보정오차 분석)

  • Each pixel of InfraRed(IR) sensor differently responds to IR light as time elapses or the sensor on/off operation is repeated. As a result, the quality of IR sensor image is deteriorated, and therefore NUC(Non-uniformity Correction) is periodically needed for IR sensor. In this paper, in order to perform NUC in the Satellite, on-board V-grooved blackbody is designed with a baffle so that the emissivity of black body is to be higher than 0.995 as well as the temperature deviation is less than $1^{\circ}C$ in the range of the infrared wave length from 3.3 to $5.2{\mu}m$. To check its performance, the emissivity and the surface temperature of the blackbody by TRT(Transfer Reference Thermometer) and IR Micrometer scanner are measured, respectively. From the results, black body design is verified and the uncertainty of NUC is estimated through the measurement results.

  • In this paper, we propose a sleep efficiency measurement algorithm based on IR-UWB radar sensor in distance. Among the vital signs which can be measured by the IR-UWB radar sensor such as breathing rate, heartbeat rate, and movement, we analyzed correlation between the movement and the sleep efficiency, and based on the result, we propose a sleep efficiency measurement algorithm. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we applied the algorithm to three polysomnography patients in hospitals and obtained the performance of an average absolute error within 3.9%.

  • In this paper, the silicon-nitride membrane structure for IR sensor was fabricated through the etching and the direct bonding. The PTO layer as a IR detection layer was deposited on the membrane and its characteristics were measured. The attack of PTO layer during the etching of silicon wafer as well as the thermal isolation of the IR detection layer can be solved through the method of bonding/etching of silicon wafer. Because the PTO layer of c-axial orientation raised thermal polarization without polling, the more integration capability can be achieved. The surface roughness of the membrane was measured by AFM, the micro voids and the non-contacted area were inspected by IR detector, and the bonding interface was observed by SEM. The polarization characteristics and the dielectric characteristics of the PTO layer were measured, too.

  • 이 논문에서는 아크 용접시 발생하는 IR신호와 UV호의 상호 관계를 알아보려고 레이저 용접진단에 사용되는 IR-UV 센서 모니터링 시스템을 적용하였다. 그 결과 IR신호 크기는 용접폭에 관련이 있고, 펄스 형태의 UV신호는 IR신호 증가율이 임계값을 넘으면 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다.

A Study of Laboratory Measurement of EO GRD Resolution for Airborne EO/IR Sensor (항공용 EO/IR 센서의 EO GRD 분해능 실험실 측정 연구)

  • EO GRD(Ground Resolved Distance) resolution of airborne EO/IR(Electro-Optical/Infrared) sensor is a critical factor in test and evaluation for EO sensor performance. We propose the laboratory measurement set-up for EO GRD by constructing optical collimator which includes integrated sphere, blackbody, equivalent 3-bar target and 6 DOF motion simulator. GRD is measured in the photographic imagery of bar targets by 3 different distances for 3 EO/IR sensors and the measured results were analyzed statistically. We found that at least 7 sheets of imagery are needed in order to obtain meaningful EO GRD. The result of statistical analysis shows that the distribution of the measured GRD is nearly symmetric about the average GRD, and the better imagery ratio above the average GRD is about 40~70%. Also from the best GRD analysis, it is estimated that the design goal for EO GRD should be 30% superior to the required GRD.

Obstacle Avoidance Method for Multi-Agent Robots Using IR Sensor and Image Information (IR 센서와 영상정보를 이용한 다 개체 로봇의 장애물 회피 방법)

  • This paper presents obstacle avoidance method for scout robot or industrial robot in unknown environment by using IR sensor and vision system. In the proposed method, robots share the information where the obstacles are located in real-time, thus the robots can choose the best path for obstacle avoidance. Using IR sensor and vision system, multiple robots efficiently evade the obstacles by the proposed cooperation method. No landmark is used at wall or floor in experiment environment. The obstacles don't have specific color or shape. To get the information of the obstacle, vision system extracts the obstacle coordinate by using an image labeling method. The information obtained by IR sensor is about the obstacle range and the locomotion direction to decide the optimal path for avoiding obstacle. The experiment was conducted in $7m{\times}7m$ indoor environment with two-wheeled mobile robots. It is shown that multiple robots efficiently move along the optimal path in cooperation with each other in the space where obstacles are located.

  • The aims of this study are to investigate the walking intention detection of a rollator based on Infraed (IR) sensor measuring knee joint anterior displacement and leg muscle activities. We used Active Walker attached IR sensor to measure the knee joint anterior displacement and EMG signal of leg muscles(rectus femoris, biceps femoris, tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius) were taken by Delsys bagnli-8ch. Subjects were eight healthy males(age $23.7{\pm}0.5years$, height $175.4{\pm}2.3cm$, weight $70.6{\pm}5.6kg$) and they were involved in experiments which had been proceeded 30 minutes a week, during 3 weeks. This system indicates that the knee joint anterior displacement had the distinction increases according to the gait slope and velocity. We showed the increase of the femoral muscle activities along the anterior tilt and the increase of the crural muscle activities along the posterior tilt.

A Multi-Channel Gas Sensor Using Fabry-Perot Interferometer-Based Infrared Spectrometer

  • We report a Fabry-Perot interferometer (FPI)-based multi-channel micro-spectrometer used for multi-gas measurement in the spectral range of $3-5{\mu}m$ and its gas sensing performance. The fabricated infrared (IR) spectrometer consists of two parts: an FPI on the top side for selective IR filtering and a $V_2O_5$-based IR detector array on the bottom side for the detection of the filtered IR. Experimental results show that the FPI-based multi-channel gas sensor has reliability and selectivity for simultaneously detecting environmentally harmful gases such as $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $N_2O$ and CO in the spectral range of $3-5{\mu}m$. The fabricated FPI-based multi-channel gas sensor also demonstrated that a reliable and selective detection of gas concentrations ranging from 0 to 500 ppm is feasible. In addition, the electrical characteristics demonstrate a superior response performance in regards to the selectivity in the multi-target gases.
