The nanocomposites with inorganic nano powder, improved thermal stability, were prepared by urethane polymerization. The structure and surface properties of the nanocomposites were determined by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR, respectively. The thermal stabilities were studied using TGA and DSC. Their morphologies and mechanical properties were observed by SEM and UTM. As a result, the nanocomposites with MMT led to the increase of the silicate layers. The distance between layers of the nanacomposites with MMT was increased by $7.5{\AA}$ and the new peaks at $1038cm^{-1}$ were shown in the presence of the Si-O groups on the silica. The thermal stabilities of the nanocomposites were higher than those of pore polyurethane matrix. The nanocomposites had higher in mechanical properties than the pure polyurethane matrix.
Using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), polystyrene macroinitiators and polystyrene-b-poly(t-butyl acrylate) (PS-b-P(tBA) block copolymers were synthesized by CuBr/PMDETA catalyst system in solution. After hydrolysis, polystyrene-b-poly(acrylic acid), amphiphilic block copolymers, were formed. Subsequent neutralization of polyacid block led to the block ionomers. The molecular weight of the synthesized PS-b-P(tBA) block copolymers was easily-controlled to 5000-10000 and their distributions were less than 1.2. The chemical structures of the synthesized block copolymers were characterized by $^1$H-NMR and FT-IR. In the DSC thermograms, $T_g$ appeared in the vicinity of 100 $^{\circ}C$ because of higher styrene content. In addition, the phase separation of the block ionomers was observed by TEM.

In this paper, we present a design and implementation of U-learning system using pen based augmented reality approach. Student has been given a smart pen and a smart study book, which is similar to the printed material already serviced. However, we print the study book using CMY inks, and embed perceptually invisible dot patterns using K ink. Smart pen includes (1) IR LED for illumination, IR pass filter for extracting the dot patterns, and (3) camera for image captures. From the image sequences, we perform topology analysis which determines the topological distance between dot pixels, and perform error correction decoding using four position symbols and five CRC symbols. When a student touches a smart study books with our smart pen, we show him/her multimedia (visual/audio) information which is exactly related with the selected region. Our scheme can embed 16 bit information, which is more than 200% larger than previous scheme, which supports 7 bits or 8 bits information.
One of the physiological disease, sudden wiliting of Yushin variety suggested that low sunlight, excessive nitrogen application, and highly reduced soil condions either singly or combined, might be possible causes of the disorder. Some visual symptom of sudden wilting are discoloration of leaves, development of nodal roots above the soil surface, total root rot, and lodging. Those observations led to the hypothesis that suffocation of root tissues was a direct cause of the wilting. The oxygen transport characteristics of Yushin, IR262 and Tongil were examined by two methods. First, Soil-cultured plants of the three varieties were subjected to paraffin treatment to decrease the oxygen supply from the air to root tissues through the soil-water system, liquid paraffin was applied to the water surface in the pots at panicle formation stage. In this experiment, sudden wilting was observed of Yushin and IR262 at about a week after the treatment, but Tongil remained green and healthy. Wilting-resistant variety Tongil had higher oxygen release, whereas the susceptible Yushin and IR262 had lower oxygen release. Second, the number and size of the air spaces in each internode were investigated in the 5th internode from the top, all three varieties have a similar number of air spaces, although the air spaces of Thongil were larger. In the 4th internode, Tongil had plenty air spaces, Yushin and one of the Yushin's parents IR262 had scanty or none. The observations indicated that the ability of Yushin and IR262 for oxygen transport is very limited compared with that of Tongil. The limited oxygen supply due to poor development of air space in internode of rice plants may cause suffocation of root tissues, weaken metabolic activity of the tissues, and induce root rot, subsequently inducing sudden wilting and lodging under unfavorable weather, soil and cultural conditions.

RC(Remote Control) is a technology that can efficiently control and transfer a variety of user commands to CEs. However, the existing RCs have been required various additional features such as communication between CEs, extension of communication range, low power-consumption and bi-directional communication according to the advent of new types of CE devices and its enhanced performance. Even though RC controller has many customers' requests, it is not a simple solution because most legacies work on IR-based RC. In this paper, we propose RF4CE-based Universal Remote Control Framework using Smartphone in order to solve the many constraints of IR legacies. The proposed R-URC system is designed by RF4CE platform which is a kind of de-facto standard for CE remote control communication. From the verification scenarios using various CEs and smart phone, we can see that the proposed R-URC shows the good practical usage in terms of contents sharing and smart CE control.
Pyrolytic preparations of Ti-Al-N ceramics from three blended precursors were investigated. The precursors were prepared stirring ($HA1N^{i}Pr_m$ and an aminolysis product of $Ti(NMe_2)_4$ with $MeHNCH_2CH_2$NHMe in $C_6/H_6$ . IR and $^1H\;NMR $analyses suggested that essentially no Ti-N-Al bonds were present in the precursors. Pyrolysis of the precursors under $NH_3-N_2$led to the formation of brown solids with ceramic yields of about 30%, and the Ti-Al ratios in the pyrolyzed products were close to those of the precursors. XRD analysis of the pyrolyzed product from the precursor with Ti:Al=5:1 indicated the formation of a NaCl-type compound as the only crystalline phase. Pyrolysis of the precursor with Ti:Al=2:1 led to the formation of AlN besides the major NaCl-type compound. A ceramic composite containing AlN and the NaCl-type compound was formed by pyrolysis of the precursor with Ti:Al=1:2.

Motion capture systems are gaining popularity in entertainment, medicine, sports, education, and industry, with animation and gaming applications for entertainment taking the lead. A wide variety of systems are available for motion capture, but most of them are complicated and expensive. In the general class of optical motion capture, two or more optical sensors are needed to measure the 3D positions of the markers attached to the body. Recently, a 3D motion capture system using two Position Sensitive Detector (PSD) optical sensors was introduced to capture high-speed motion of an active infrared LED marker. The PSD-based system, however, is limited by a geometric calibration procedure for two PSD sensor modules that is too difficult for common customers. In this research, we have introduced a new system that used a single PSD sensor unit to obtain 3D positions of active IR LED-based markers. This new system is easy to calibrate and inexpensive.

The electroluminescence (EL) intensities of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are estimated based on their photoluminescence (PL) properties. The PL intensity obtained under open-circuit conditions is divided into two parts: the PL intensity under a forward bias lower than the optical turn-on voltage, and the difference between the PL intensities under open-circuit conditions and under forward bias. The luminescence induced by photoexcitation under a constant forward bias lower than the optical turn-on voltage is primarily the PL from the excited area of the LED. In contrast the intensity difference, obtained by subtracting the PL intensity under the forward bias from that under open-circuit conditions, contains the EL induced by the photocarriers generated during photoexcitation. In addition, a reverse photocurrent is generated during photoexcitation under constant forward bias across the LED, and can be correlated with the PL-intensity difference. The relationship between the photocurrent and PL-intensity difference matches well the relationship between the injection current and EL intensity of LEDs. The ratio between the photocurrent generated under a bias and the short-circuit current is related to the ratio between the PL-intensity difference and the PL intensity under open-circuit conditions. A relational expression consisting of the ratios, short-circuit current, and PL under open-circuit conditions is proposed to estimate the EL intensity.

Photoluminescence (PL) properties of GaN-based light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were analyzed to study the effects of carrier leakage on the luminescence properties at room temperature. The electrical leakage and PL properties were compared for LEDs showing leakages at forward bias and an LED with an intentional leakage path formed by connecting a parallel resistance of various values. The leakages at the forward bias, which could be observed from the current-voltage characteristics, resulted in an increase in the excitation laser power density for the maximum PL efficiency (ratio of PL intensity to excitation power) as well as a reduction in the PL intensity. The effect of carrier leakages on PL properties was similar to the change in PL properties owing to a reduction of the photovoltage by a reverse current since the direction of the carrier movement under photoexcitation is identical to that of the reverse current. Valid relations between PL properties and electrical properties were observed as the PL properties deteriorated with an increase in the carrier leakage. The results imply that the PL properties of LED chips can be an indicator of the electrical properties of LEDs.
Humic acids extracted from decomposing plant residues were characterized by infrared(IR) spectra. The IR spectra were further interpreted by chemical analyses for oxygen-containing functional groups such as carboxyl, phenolic, alcoholic, carbonyl, and quinionic groups. 1. The IR spectra obtained in this study were divied into three categories: spectra of humic acids from grain crop straws of rice, barley, wheat and rye produced Type I, while that from wild grass hay yielded Type II, and those from forest tree litter of the deciduous and conifers were led to give Type III. 2. There were no significant changes in the absorption bands observed among humic acids extracted at various stages of decomposition of a given Plant material. 3. The absorption band at about $3,430cm^{-1}$ represents the presence of hydrogen-bonded hydroxyl groups, phenolic-OH groups being the major component. 4. A close relationship was found between the total acidity and the content of phenolic-OH groups of humic acids. The content of carboxyl groups maintains a direct relationship with the content of total hydroxyl groups, and such a close relationship also exists between the content of alcoholic hydroxyls and that of total hydroxyl groups. 5. Overlapping of the absorption bands of carbonyl groups and quinones renders it difficult to make differentiation between the two. 6. A variety of non-armoatic cyclic hydrocarbons appears to be a structural component as evidenced by a sharp absorption peak near $995-1000cm^{-1}$.
