In this study, we compared the properties of 23 high and 55 low price sunglass lenses with the standards in the ordinary optical properties, materials, coloration, UV, IR and luminous transmittance, color acceptance for traffic signal, chromaticity and contrast sensitivity. The ordinary optical properties of the lenses met comparatively the requirements of the KS standard. The HIGH-type and LOW-type lenses were primarily made by glass and acrylate, respectively. In the coloration, HIGH-type was in group around neutral color but LOW-type was distributed widely on the line between 570 nm and 485 nm. There are fails in 7% of HIGH-type and 18% of LOW-type in the stimulus purity of the luminous transmittance. Wavelength of the UV/VIS cut-off was over 350 nm for HIGH-type but 6% of LOW-type was under 350 nm. In the erythemal UV, all HIGH-type met the needs of standards but 5 LOW-type failed with DIN standard In the near UV, KS standard worked in stringency, and HIGH-type showed more failure than LOW-type. The characteristics of the IR transmittance of HIGH-type was better than that of LOW-type. In the color acceptance of traffic signal, all HIGH-type met the needs of ANSI standards but 21.8% of LOW-type failed with the standard. In the contrast sensitivity tested with various coloured sunglasses, the value increased with increasing of Land decreasing of test distance. In view of the results so far, HIGH-type met with excellent properties as compared with LOW-type.
An airborne sensor is developed for remote sensing on an aerial vehicle (UV). The sensor is an optical payload for an eletro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) dual band camera that combines visible and IR imaging capabilities in a compact and lightweight package. It adopts a Ritchey-Chr$\'{e}$tien telescope for the common front end optics with several relay optics that divide and deliver EO and IR bands to a charge-coupled-device (CCD) and an IR detector, respectively. The EO/IR camera for dual bands is mounted on a two-axis gimbal that provides stabilized imaging and precision pointing in both the along and cross-track directions. We first investigate the mechanical deformations, displacements and stress of the EO/IR camera through finite element analysis (FEA) for five cases: three gravitational effects and two thermal conditions. For investigating gravitational effects, one gravitational acceleration (1 g) is given along each of the +x, +y and +z directions. The two thermal conditions are the overall temperature change to $30^{\circ}C$ from $20^{\circ}C$ and the temperature gradient across the primary mirror pupil from $-5^{\circ}C$ to $+5^{\circ}C$. Optical performance, represented by the modulation transfer function (MTF), is then predicted by integrating the FEA results into optics design/analysis software. This analysis shows the IR channel can sustain imaging performance as good as designed, i.e., MTF 38% at 13 line-pairs-per-mm (lpm), with refocus capability. Similarly, the EO channel can keep the designed performance (MTF 73% at 27.3 lpm) except in the case of the overall temperature change, in which the EO channel experiences slight performance degradation (MTF 16% drop) for $20^{\circ}C$ overall temperate change.
The diamond-like carbon(DLC) film, as an antireflection layer, is coated on a commerically used Ge window. DLC films are deposited by using an rf(13.56 MHz) plasma CVD. The optimal value of thickness and refractive index of DLC layer has been determined from the computer simulation. IR-transmittances of DLC-coated Ge windows are estimated by measuring FTIR spectra in the wavelength range of$ 2.5{\sim}25{\mu}m$. By coating the DLC film on one side of the Ge window, the transmittance measured at a wavelength of $10{\mu}m$ is about 60 %, while that of the bare Ge is lower than 50 %. Also, a higher transmittance up to about 90 % is obtained by coating the DLC film on both sides of the window. It may be suggested that the further improvement of the IR-transmittance can be achieved by more precisely controlling the thickness and the refractive index of DLC layer and also by adopting various muliti-layer antireflection structures.
We tried to design and manufacture a night scope which is used in the leisure sports field. The whole system consists of an IR light source part, an objective lens part, an intensifier tube part and an eye_piece lens part. We designed an objective lens part to the infinite object imaging optical-system with 80mm focal-length, 40mm effective-aperture and 14mm image-field-size of which the chromatic aberration is reduced by using materials of BK7 and FD4. The resolution of this system is about 25lines/mm at the 40% MTF value criterion. The eye_piece lens is adopted goods to be used commercially to save cost of production. The design technique which gets in this development will be utilized greatly in good developments of the dot, the sight and the day/night riflescope system at the hereafter.

The role of UCAV is to carry out various missions in hostile situations such as penetration and attack on the enemy territory. To this end, application of RF stealth technology is indispensable so as not to be caught by enemy radar. The X-47B UCAV with blended wing body configuration is a representative aircraft in which modern RCS reduction schemes are heavily applied. In this study, a model UCAV was first designed based on the X-47B platform and then an extensive RCS analysis was conducted to the model UCAV in the high-frequency regime using the Ray Launching Geometrical Optics (RL-GO) method. In particular, the effects of configuration of UCAV considering IR reduction on RCS were investigated. Finally, the effects of RAM optimized for the air intake of the model UCAV were analyzed.
The experimental FT-IR spectra and DTA curves of the $PbO-Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2$ glasses have been investigated. The composition ratio dependence of glass transition temperature showed that the structure of this glass system changes at 60 mol% $Bi_2O_3$. We have observed that the FT-IR spectra of the investigated samples with high bismuth content are dominated by bands associated to the structural units of the heaviest cation, $Bi^{3+}$ and the boron atoms in the treated samples are three and four coordinated even for very high $Bi_2O_3$ content. The low intensity of these non-bridging oxygen bands, for high PbO content glasses, can be attributed to the strong network-forming roles of PbO. The glasses absorption bands exhibited a greater change in intensities on crystallization.

Coating films of $SiO_2-TiO_2-AgO$ have been prepared on soda-lime-silica slide glasses and single crystal silicon wafer by the sol-gel method using a spin-coating technique. Commercially available tetraethyl orthosilicate, titanium trichloride, and silver-nitrates were used as starting materials. The heat treatment temperature of this coating films was $500^{\circ}C$ properly, obtained from TG-DTA result. The films with thickness of 310 nm were prepared by 5 times coating. In the case of l0 mol% AgO, the film showed a crack-free and smooth surface, but the higher Ago content exhibited the more pin hole and the segregated cluster of AgO. The IR absorbance of the films decreased in the range of 400 nm to 700 nm with the increase of annealing temperature. And the reflectance of the coating films decreased and the color was changed light yellow to white yellow with the increase of Ago content.
This paper describes the design and fabrication of mid-IR $(3.7-4.8{\mu}m)$ zoom optics which is used for FUR (Forward Looking Infra-Red) system with 320 $\times$ 240 focal plane arrays. The zoom optics has 20 magnification range and maximun 40$^{\circ}$$\times$30$^{\circ}$ of super wide field of view. The locus of zoom is almost linear, which gives easy access of mechanical and electro-mechanical design. The on-axis MTF of zoom optics has been measured and it shows diffraction limited optical performance. For example, it gives 0.692 at 24 cycles/mm at highest magnification, and 7.6 cycles/mradof resolving power is achieved with the operation of attached micro-scanning system.system.

Adaptive Optical (AO) technology can compensate for wave-front errors in real-time to improve image and beam quality. The research and development on AO in China began in 1979. In 1980, the first laboratory on AO in China was established in Institute of Optics and Electronics (IOE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Since then several AO systems have been built in this Laboratory. The 19-element system is the first AO system in the world ever used in inertial confinement fusion (ICF) facility in our knowledge. It corrects the static error of this large laser engineering. The 21-element system was firstly tested at the 1.2m telescope of Kunming Observatory in 1990 and then up-dated as an IR AO system installed at the 2.16m telescope of Beijing Observatory. The 37-element system was used with a turbulence cell in Laboratory on Atmospheric Optics in Hefei to conduct elementary research on Atmospheric Optics. The 61-element system for astronomical observation is newly developed. It has been successfully installed at the 1.2m telescope of Kunming Observatory and a laser guide star system will be integrated with the system. A compact AO system using our newly developed miniature DM for high resolution ophthalmic imaging of retina is also being built. The key elements of these AO systems, deformable mirrors and fast-steering mirrors, are all developed in this Laboratory. In this talk, the main configurations of these AO systems, some test results as well as the specifications of these active mirrors will be presented.

An optical arrangement has been set inside a photo-spectrometer to measure the reflectance of IR optics materials in mid IR range. The optical arrangement consists of equally spaced 4 gold coated full reflecting mirrors with the incidence angle of 45°. Baseline beam intensity IB has been measured while the beam proceeds through the 4 mirrors. Reflectance of a mirror has been estimated from the IB. And the beam intensity IS with the specimen in the optical path has been measured with the 4th mirror replaced with the specimen. Reflectance of the specimen has been estimated from the value of IS/IB. Then the estimated reflectance has been put in Fresnel equation relating reflectance and refractive index(RI) to estimate the RI of the material. Measurement has been made for sapphire, germanium, magnesium fluoride, and zinc sulfide. The estimated RI of the materials are closely matching with reference data and the maximum difference less than 2% over the wavelength range 3-5㎛ for all materials tested. As an FT-IR photo-spectrometer with a broadband wavelength infrared light source is used, this method has the advantage of measuring the refractive index at multiple wavelengths in a single measurement.
