최근에 광대역망을 기반으로 방송서비스를 포함하여 통방융합 서비스를 제공하는 IPTV 서비스에 대한 관심이 고조되고 있다. IPTV 서비스에 있어서 기존의 방송채널들은 킬러 애플리케이션의 하나로써 재사용되어지며 이를 위한 IPTV 미들웨어 구조에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 특히 대부분의 상용 서비스는 기존의 방송서비스에서 사용되고 있는 기술을 수정없이 사용하고자 하는 이유로 인하여 IP 환경에 비효율적인 구조를 채택하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 방송채널을 재전송함에 있어 IP 환경에 최적화 될 수 있는 기술을 제안하고자 한다.

Because of the development of IPTV, user is provided service of multimedia data regardless the location. But the number of users who try to get service of IPTV game illegally is also increasing. In this paper, user authentication protocol in IPTV housing using PIN code not to access easily for teenagers not to access to prohibited games. The proposed protocol combines authority data in IPTV household and creates a disposable password using PIN code to prevent teenagers from accessing illegally to the prohibited games and saves the data in certification server and set-top box to prevent forced accessing.

IPTV는 방통융합기술의 대표적인 매체로서 기존의 단방향 방송과는 차별화된 양방향 서비스를 특징으로 하는 새로운 방송 매체로, 우리나라는 이미 IPTV 상용 서비스를 시작하고 있다. 그러나, 초기 데이터방송 송출환경 및 애플리케이션의 방식 등이 서로 상이하여 애플리케이션의 호환성 문제가 대두 됨에 따라, IPTV 미들웨어의 표준화가 진행되고 있으며, 현재도 개정 작업이 진행되고 있다. 이렇듯 표준화가 진행됨에 따라, IPTV 서비스 플랫폼 상호호환성 확보의 핵심인 미들웨어에 대한 표준 미들웨어를 개발하여 업계에 배포 활용하게 함으로써 표준 API의 정착 및 중소 업체에 시장 진입의 기회를 부여하고자 IPTV 미들웨어 표준 참조구현을 개발하게 되었다. 미디어 재생, 그래픽 객체 표현 기능, 리모콘 가상화 등의 미들웨어 실행환경 및 IPTV 미들웨어 표준에 부합하는 API를 구현하여 Windows OS상에서 동작하도록 개발되었으며, Java VM(Virtual Machine)에서 동작하는 자바기반 미들웨어와 웹 애플리케이션 실행 플랫폼을 통해 구동되는 웹기반 미들웨어를 같이 개발영역에 포함하여 개발하였다.

오늘날 기술 경쟁이 심화되면서 업체간 기술 격차는 큰 차이를 보이지 않고 있다. 그래서 각 기업들은 자사 제품의 경쟁력 확보를 위해 다양한 분야를 연구하게 되었고, 그 결과 소비자들에게 높은 기술력을 제공하는 것보다는 새로운 경험을 제공하는 것에 대한 중요성이 점점 부각되어 가고 있다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 PC 에서 웹 서비스(Web-Service)를 사용하는 사용자의 경험을 IPTV 에서도 경험할 수 있는 방법에 대해 연구하였고, 그 중 사용자들이 좀더 편리하고 쉽게 웹을 경험할 수 있는 Widget UI를 제안한다. 우리가 제안하는 IPTV 에서 웹 서비스를 제공하는 Widget UI 는 서로 독립적인 Widget 서비스들로 구성되어 있으며, Widget 서비스의 개수와 배치는 사용자에 따라 다르게 제공된다. 즉, 우리는 IPTV 를 위한 사용자 맞춤형 웹 서비스 제공 Widget 사용자 인터페이스를 제안한다. 또한 각 Widget 서비스의 정보 검색은 리모컨의 4 방향 키를 사용하도록 제공함으로써 사용자에게 사용의 편리성을 증대시키고 학습 피로를 감소시킬 수 있다. 이러한 학습 편의성과 사용 편리성을 사용자에게 제공함으로써 기존에 IPTV 에서 사용하기 힘들었던 웹 서비스의 사용성을 크게 향상 시키는 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 우리는 이러한 Widget UI 의 사용성을 객관적으로 평가하기 위해 UI 전문가들을 대상으로 전문가 평가를 실시하였으며, 결과 비교를 위해 다른 웹 서비스 제공 UI 들도 추가적으로 전문가 평가를 실시하였다. 전문가 평가 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 Widget UI 가 타 UI 들에 비해 높은 사용성 평가를 기록하였으며, 이 결과는 결국 우리가 제안한 Widget UI 가 IPTV 에서 웹 서비스 정보를 제공하는데 있어 효율적이고 적합한 방식임을 보여준다.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) through broadband cable network is a subscriber-based system which consists of software and set-top box. However, a weakness for the current IPTV system is the lack of security between users and CAS. This paper proposes a user authentication protocol at STB, which limits the service by the user-valued attribute to prevent illegal IPTV users. User attribute values change the order with bit form according to the certain rule, and apply to one-way hash function and Diffie-Hellman's elliptic curve key-exchange algorithm. The proposed protocol is able to improve on user authentication and computation. Also, each user generates an authentication message by smart card and receives various services based on the user-valued attribute.

IPTV 서비스는 사업자별로 구성되어 있는 폐쇄적 서비스망에서 VoD 및 방송서비스를 특징으로 하였다. 사업자별 폐쇄성은 사용자의 이용환경의 제약뿐만 아니라 서비스 자원의 이용효율성을 저하시킴으로써, 중복투자 등의 비용적인 부담을 초래하게 되었다. 또한, 다양한 유무선 단말의 수용과 사용자 특성을 고려한 다양한 서비스의 제공요구는 사업자간 또는 서비스 제공자간의 서비스 자원의 상호 공유의 동기를 부여하게 되었다. 이에 본 논문은 오픈 IPTV 서비스 플랫폼에서 제공하는 다양한 서비스 요소들을 융합하여 새로운 융합서비스를 생성하고 제공하는 일련의 구조에 대해 연구하였다. 본 논문에서는 주문형 비디오 서비스를 융합서비스의 예로 삼았으며, 주문형 비디오 서비스를 제공함에 있어, 사용자의 주어진 특성(예를들면, 성별, 연령대 등)에 따른 콘텐츠의 추천을 확장하여, 사용자의 사회적 성향을 반영함으로써, 성별, 연령대에 따른 획일적인 콘텐츠 제공을 극복하고 사용자의 개별적인 성향을 반영하는 콘텐츠 제공방법을 연구하였다.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service is the convergence service of the telecommunication and broadcasting that provides various bidirectional multimedia contents by IPTV service subscribe's request through the high-speed internet. However, the proposed technologies current do not guarantee the security such as authentication between Set-Top-Box (STB) and the user mobile devices available IPTV service at home domain, and authentication of mobile user device at out of door. This paper proposes the authentication protocol for distributing content securely from STB to the users' mobile devices at home domain and authentication for network access and IPTV service access when the user's mobile device is moved out of the house. The proposed scheme using the proxy signature enables to distribute and protect securely the contents protected through an underlying Conditional Access System (CAS) without re-encrypting then that the existing scheme should employ. Then this protocol supports the authentication scheme to get service access authentication based on network access authentication using the signature, which the STB issued on behalf of the trust authority of IPTV service provider. Also the proposed authentication protocol reduces the total communication overhead and computation time comparing to the other authentication protocol.

In a WLAN, the data reception rate of a user station depends not only on the received signal strength (RSS) from an AP (Access Point) but also on the contention level of the AP. However, since only the RSSs measured at the physical layer have been used for a station to select an AP to associate with, the station may not satisfy the minimum quality requirements necessary for a seamless IPTV service. Thus, in this paper, we propose an AP selection method to support quality requirements of the IPTV service in a wireless LAN without modifying the IEEE 802.11 standard. A user station keeps monitoring a contention level of APs around it and a quality of an ongoing IPTV service. If the quality deteriorates below a threshold, the station reassociates with another AP having the least load so that the ongoing IPTV program is played without disruption.

One of the recent important issues in IT fields is the convergence. It had been simply focused on functional convergence of technologyies. However the convergence in terms of businesses or services also has been made in recent years. The convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication industries can be possible because the e-transformation of broadcasting industry based on digital technology such as multimedia and multi-channel, can be combined with the high speed telecommunication network. It is giving a birth of various convergence services such as IPTV. IPTV is a kind of new service that is combined with the convergence of network, contents, and device. Nevertheless the controversy about the scope and the value of this new convergence service has constantly been raised; for example, what is the difference between IPTV and Internet TV? or what are the benefits that customers can have? This study measured the expectation level and the cognitive level of users before and after using the service and analyzed the gap between the importance and the satisfaction of the service. From this study, we proposed the priority of each function by analysing Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) method to suggest required functions of IPTV service based on N-Screen technology. This study will identify the gap of awareness level between service providers and end users for the functions of broadcasting and telecommunications convergence service and suggest a solution enhancing user satisfaction.

Currently broadcasting and telecommunication has integrated, And IPTV Service has appeared who called TPS(Triple Play Service) which integrated with broadcasting, telecommunication and Phone Service. IPTV provide broadcasting service and VOD(Video on Demand) service, and it must be satisfied digital content security. For this condition, IPTV Forum working on standardization of interface for digital content security. The Security solution for broadcasting and VOD are CAS (Conditional Access System) and DRM(Digital Rights Management). But these solutions manufactured by many vendors, so there is no inter-operability. And after finished standardization of interface for CAS and DRM system, the problem of inter-operability with them will be issued. For this reason, Rights management system which possible to operate independently with platform is necessary. In this paper, To protect multimedia digital content, we designed and implemented Conditional Access Management System.
