In order for end-users in home networks to receive opportunities for useful services that go beyond legacy Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) services, this paper proposes a service platform that resides on the residential gateway (RG) for interworking between the home network and IPTV. This proposed service platform is called the home-oriented IPTV service platform (HISP) on the RG (HISP-RG). The proposed HISP-RG provides open architecture and functionalities to enable 3rd party IPTV service providers to locally and directly deliver home-oriented IPTV services to end-users in home networks. The HISP-RG can be an "add-on" and not a "built-in" solution for the existing standard RG. This paper introduces several home-oriented IPTV services that can be executed and delivered locally through the HISP-RG. Then, the open architecture and functionalities of the HISP-RG are defined and their requirements are specified. Finally, use cases of the HISP-RG for home-oriented IPTV services are presented.

IPTV는 2008년 처음 서비스가 시작된 이후 IPTV 콘텐츠 호환성 확보와 단말 이동성 확보를 통한 IPTV 서비스 활성화 및 전체적인 비용 절감을 위해 많은 표준화 이슈들이 있었고 짧은 시간동안 많은 부분 표준화가 완료 되었다. 그러나 기존의 XML 기반의 서비스 정보를 송출하고 수신하는 제품이 없고 표준 검증을 위한 기준 단말 및 서버가 개발자에게 제공되지 않아 표준의 빠른 상용화 개발에 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 논문은 방통융합 기반기술 테스트 환경 구축 과제를 통해 IPTV 서비스 탐색과 콘텐츠 가이드 표준 참조구현 소스를 오픈소스 방식으로 무료 배포하기 위하여, IPTV 서비스 환경에 적합한 XML 기반의 서비스 정보와 콘텐츠 가이드 정보를 H/E단(서버)에서 송출하고 단말을 통해 이들 정보를 확인하는 기술 표준인 "IPTV 서비스 탐색 및 전송방식"과 "IPTV 콘텐츠 가이드 정보 및 전송방식" 표준을 적용한 서버와 단말 기능을 개발하였다.

통신 기술과 모바일 기술의 발달로 인해, 이 두 기술을 융합된 모바일IPTV가 탄생하였다. 하지만, 모바일IPTV는 기존의 IPTV와는 달리 방대한 종류의 디바이스와 그에 따른 제공하는 비디오 포맷과 같은 제약들이 존재한다. 하지만 기존의 서비스는 다양한 이기종의 모바일 장치의 특성을 고려하지 않고 서비스 제공자가 모든 사용자에게 같은 서비스를 제공하기 때문에 사용자는 콘텐츠의 포맷이나 용량으로 인하여 장치에 알맞은 컨텐츠를 받지 못할 경우가 있으며 혹은 신속하게 서비스를 제공받지 못할 경우가 있다. 위와 같은 문제를 해결하기 위해서, 본 논문에서는 CC/PP(Composite Capabilities / Preference Profile)를 이용하여 이기종의 모바일IPTV 장치들의 규격 및 특성을 분석하고, 이를 통해 다양한 기종의 모바일IPTV 사용자들에게 장치의 특성에 맞는 맞춤형 서비스를 최적화하여 제공할 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다.

요즈음 세계적인 유수 통신 사업자들이 새로운 서비스로 가장 큰 관심을 나타내고 있는 것이 IPTV이다. 이는 통신 사업자들이 브로드밴드 IP 네트워크 환경에서 비디오, 음성 및 데이터 정보들을 다양한 형태의 새로운 서비스 패키지로 엮어서 이용자들의 요구에 가장 잘 적응할 수 있게 만든 서비스 모델이 IPTV 서비스이기 때문일 것이다. 그런데 IPTV 서비스가 이용자들에게 고품질의 서비스 및 다양한 부가기능을 갖춘 고기능 부가서비스로 다가갈 뿐만 아니라 효율적인 통신 서비스 시장을 형성하여 나가기 위해서는 표준화의 요구 사항을 만족시켜야 할 것이다. 그러나 IPTV 관련 기술 및 서비스 기능들이 네트워크, 서비스 기능 및 특성, 가입자 액세스 기술, 서비스 품질, 네트워크 특성들이 고려된 종합적인 IPTV 표준화가 이루어지지 않았다. 따라서 각국의 통신 사업자뿐만 아니라 서비스 사업자 및 가입자 시스템 벤더들은 브로드밴드 통신 시장의 수요에 따라 IPTV 서비스의 endto-end 상호운용성(Interoperability)을 제공하기 위한 IPTV 표준화에 경쟁적으로 참여하고 있다. 최근에 ITU-T는 IPTV의 표준화를 위한 포커스 그룹 결성을 위한 준비 모임을 오는 4월 초에 제네바에서 개최하고 7월경에는 공식적으로 표준화 조직으로 결성할 예정이다.

In this paper, we research the IPTV that is the convergence technique of TV and network technique and performed the performance evaluation of picture quality of IPTV in the situation of increasing the network traffic in the Internet environment. To do this, we constructed the mock Internet network similar to the real Internet environment and measured the quality of received video using V-Factor model according to the increase of network traffic, and analyzed the result of the experiment. Making use of the result of this paper for the threshold value of V-Factor, the measured factor of network performance, the measured factor of video performance in the watchable IPTV video quality.

IPTV Service, a convergence service of broadcasting, seems to have great potential as a nation's future growth driver for the 21st century. As IPTV service is future-oriented industry, adopting IPTV policy by freeing oneself from shortsighted policy and considering long-term strategy and rapidly changing convergence environment would be desirable. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to deduct future IPTV service under convergence environment by applying T.A.I.D.A, which is strategy planning tool effective for planning mid-long strategy, under uncertain environment among scenario method and offer new policy direction in order to realize future IPTV service.

This study deals with the proposition of the diversification strategy for participation contents service based on the open IPTV policy, and the strategic implication for IPTV players. This paper demonstrates implication for activation of participation contents to IPTV players with reference to differentiation of usages and needs to internet and television. Thus this paper proposes for diversification of player's competency (1) variety of production channels for contents, (2) enhanced accessibility, and (3) the strategic consistency for industrial eco-system. Moreover, this paper suggests that device differentiation for creation of demand, boosting customer satisfaction & immersion through closely interlocking contents.

In this paper, for analysing the major factors giving the effect to the quality of video on the multicasting service of IPTV, we construct the lab test network environment similar to the real IPTV service network environment. We measure the quality of video on the multicasting of IPTV generating and increasing the broadcasting traffic on the situation that apply the QoS technique to the test lab network and not apply the QoS technique and then find out the threshold value of factors giving the effect to the quality of video on the multicasting service of IPTV. This paper can be used in basic date for guaranteeing the constant video quality on the multicasting service of IPTV.

Domestic paid broadcasting market is largely classified into cable TV, satellite broadcasting and IPTV. Latest starter IPTV began its commercial service in 2009 and reached 10 million subscribers in August 2014 after 6 years of service. It has been growing rapidly by increasing more than 500 thousand subscribers every quarter and has taken its place firmly as one of core domestic paid broadcasting platforms, second only to cable TV. Even with this quantitative growth, 3 major IPTV companies are still running deficit, attracting attention to issue of the vitalization of IPTV business based on qualitative growth. This study draws out revitalizing and hindering factors of Korean IPTV industry through a case study on 'A' corporation which is leading domestic IPTV market and exploratory study based on interviews with experts and, by developing influencing factors into Causal Loop Diagram through system dynamics research methodology, draws out core issues in vitalization of domestic IPTV industry and suggests alternatives. Therefore, it is expected that this study will provide more diverse practical implications than preceding studies which drew out one-dimensional issues and alternatives and help vitalize Korean IPTV industry by minimizing negative effects and maximizing positive ones.

Recently, due to the rapid improvement of communication technologies as well as the easy production of video contents, IPTV is becoming increasingly popular. Meanwhile, as the number of IPTV channels increases rapidly, much time is required for finding the user's desired channel. This paper discusses and analyzes the effectiveness of reducing IPTV channel searching delays by using memory management techniques of computer systems. Specifically, this paper introduces how memory management techniques such as memory replacement, prefetching, and caching techniques can be adopted in IPTV channel searching interfaces by mapping between the two problems and discusses the effectiveness of the techniques.
