  • Physico-chemical changes of the plasma modified titanium alloy [Ti-6Al-4V] surface were studied with respect to their crystallographic changes by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).The plasma-treatment of surface was carried out to enhance adhesion of high performance nano reinforced epoxy adhesive, a phenomenon that was manifested in subsequent experimental results. The enhancement of adhesion as a consequence of improved spreading and wetting on metal surface was studied by contact angle (sessile drop method) and surface energy determination, which shows a distinct increase in polar component of surface energy. The synergism in bond strength was established by analyzing the lap-shear strength of titanium laminate. The extent of enhancement in thermal stability of the dispersed nanosilica particles reinforced epoxy adhesive was studied by Thermo Gravimetric Analysis (TGA), which shows an increase in onset of degradation and high amount of residuals at the high temperature range under study. The fractured surfaces of the joint were examined by Scanning electron microscope (SEM).

  • The authors in this paper aim to identify the growth of literature on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). The research publications on IPRs were downloaded from the Scopus online citation database and the authors found that there were 1,513,138 records contributed globally over a period of 10 years from 2005 to 2014. The distribution of publications based on the year, country, and document type were studied. Relative growth rate (RGR) of the publications and doubling time (Td) were calculated. Most productive organizations, source titles, and the productive authors on IPR research were studied. Most cited articles in the study area were identified. The results show that a number of publications under the subjects Medicine and Engineering were produced. The developed countries are very active in IPR research and producing publications. It is found that one institution which holds the sixth place among the top 10 most productive institutions belongs to Brazil, a developing country. Two developing countries such as China and India hold second and tenth positions respectively in the top 10 countries contributing literature on IPRs.

  • As software is becoming increasing important to the human society, so does the effort to produce them is also increasing.. All of these efforts can be at risk when source code of the application is reverse engineered by the software pirate. Many attempts have been made to protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR); one of the newest attempts to protect IPR is software watermarking. It is used to prove ownership right when IPR are violated, and also prevents the bandit from altering the code for his own use. In this paper we are presenting a new technique for software watermarking know as Dictionary Based Software Watermarking (DBSW). DBSW works by embedding dummy instructions in source code with the help of predefined mapping already available in the dictionary. These instructions are identical to the normal instructions of the program and are hard to identify or to extract from the watermarked program. With the help of DBSW we not only can stop source code alteration but can also identify the buyer how has distributed the pirated copy.

  • This study describes the development of a method for monitoring Aphis gossypii in greenhouse cucumber fields that was used during 2013 and 2014. The dispersion pattern of A. gossypii was determined by commonly used methods: Taylor's power law (TPL) and Iwao's patchiness regression (IPR). The sample unit was determined by linear regression analysis between mean density of sample unit versus whole plant. The optimum sample unit for different plant growth stages was two leaves (median and the lowest + 1 leaf) when the total number of leaves was less than nine, and three leaves (4th, 7th from canopy, and the lowest +1 leaf) when the total number of leaves was greater than nine. A. gossypii showed an aggregated distribution pattern, as the slopes of both TPL and IPR lines were greater than 1. TPL provided a better description of the mean-variance relationship than did IPR. The slopes and intercepts of TPL and IPR from leaf samples did not differ between the surveyed years. Fixed precision levels (D) for a sequential sampling plan were developed using Green's and Kuno's equations based on the number of aphid in a leaf sample. Green's method was more efficient than Kuno's to stop sampling. The number of samples needed to estimate the density of A. gossypii increased at higher D levels and lower mean densities. The cumulative number of aphids needed to stop sampling increased at higher D levels and with fewer plants sampled. Thus to estimate 10 aphids per leaf, 13 plants needed to be sampled, and the cumulative number of aphids to stop sampling was 131.

  • The rapid development of digital media and communication network urgently brings about the need of data certification technology to protect IPR (Intellectual property right). This paper proposed a new watermarking method for embedding contents owner's audio signal in order to protect color image IPR. Since this method evolves the existing static model and embeds audio signal of big data, it has the advantage of restoring signal transformed due to attacks. Three basic stages of watermarking include: 1) Encode analogue ID owner's audio signal using PCM and create new 3D audio watermark; 2) Interleave 3D audio watermark by linear bit expansion and 3) Transform Y signal of color image into wavelet and embed interleaved audio watermark in the low frequency band on the transform domain. The results demonstrated that the audio signal embedding in color image proposed in this paper enhanced robustness against lossy JPEG compression, standard image compression and image cropping and rotation which remove a part of image.

  • This paper focuses on the problem of determining the quantity and timing of disassembling used products while satisfying the demand of their parts or components over a planning horizon. The case of multiple product types with parts commonality is considered for the objective of minimizing the sum of setup, disassembly operation, and inventory holding costs. A heuristic is suggested, in which an initial solution is obtained using a linear programming relaxation method, and then improved by perturbing the given solution using a dynamic programming approach and a look-ahead check while considering the trade-offs among different cost factors.
