Calculation of Avoided Generation Cost of a IPP Based on Generation Expansion Plan of Korea (전원개발계획에 기초한 민자발전소의 회피발전비용 계산에 관한 연구)

  • Electric business all over the world is dramatically changed from vertically integrated monopoly to competition systems. Also, independent power producers(IPPs) will start their commercial operation from the year 2001 in Korea. In this regard, determination of the transaction cost between IPPs and electric utilities will be a hot issue, and electric utilities requires a new framework to support their decision-making. This paper presents the concept of the avoided cost which can be used for economic studies. This paper also describes a novel algorithm to evaluate the avoided cost of a IPP. The case studies are performed on the basis of the official generation expansion plan of Korea by using the Wien Automatic System Planning Package(WASP).

  • 본 논문에서는 멀티프로세서 기반의 고속 영상처리 알고리즘 개발방법에 대해 소개한다. 영상획득 방식의 발전과 더불어 고해상도 영상의 획득이 가능해지고 영상이 컬러화가 되면서 많은 영상처리 응용분야에서 알고리즘 고속화를 필요로 하고 있다. 이러한 수요를 만족시키기 위해서는 최근에 출시되고 있는 멀티프로세서를 최대한 활용할 수 있는 알고리즘 개발이 최우선이다. 본 논문에서는 OpenMP, MIL(Matrox Image Library), OpenCV, IPP(Integrated Performance Primitives), SSE (Streaming SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) Extensions)등 병렬처리와 고속 영상처리 라이브러리를 이용한 알고리즘 개발방법에 대해 소개하고, 각 개발방법에 따른 알고리즘 성능을 분석 및 평가하였다. 실험결과로부터 SSE와 IPP, MIL(Thread)을 이용하여 Mean, Dilation, Erosion, Open, Closing, Sobel등 알고리즘을 구현하여 $4057{\times}4048$크기의 영상에 적용하였을 때 $7{\sim}35msec$의 좋은 성능을 나타내어 기타 방식보다 우수함을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 SSE(Streaming Sigle instruction multiple data Extensions)명령어를 이용한 고속 Sobel edge detection 알고리즘을 제안한다. SSE를 지원하는 CPU는 128bit의 SSE 레지스터를 보유하고 있으며 이에 속한 데이터는 한 번에 병렬적으로 처리 될 수 있다. 실험은 Sobel 연산에 대하여 순차처리 코딩, 이미지 처리 라이브러리인 OpenCV, MIL 8.0, IPP 5.2를 이용한 코딩, shift 알고리즘을 사용한 SSE 코딩, 제안하는 방법을 이용한 SSE 프로그램 코팅에 대해 각각의 수행 시간을 측정하고 이를 비교하였다. 실험결과 제안하는 방법은 순차코팅에 비해 약 12배, OpenCV에 비해 13배, MIL에 비해 2배 정도 빨랐으며, IPP에 대해선 약간 빠른 성능 향상을 보였다. 또한 일반적인 shift를 이용한 방법보다 제안하는 방법은 대략 1.5배 정도의 성능 향상이 있었다. 이를 통해 제안하는 방법은 라이브러리를 구입하는 비용을 들이지 않으며 추가적 하드웨어의 구입 없이도 PC에서 빠른 Sobel 연산을 수행 할 수 있음을 보였다.

  • Several applications of radio-frequency (RF) thermal plasma to film formation are reviewed. Three types of injection plasma processing (IPP) technique are first introduced for the deposition of materials. Those are thermal plasma chemical vapor deposition (CVD), plasma flash evaporation, and plasma spraying. Radio-frequency (RF) plasma and hybrid (combination of RF and direct current(DC)) plasma are next introduced as promising thermal plasma sources in the IPP technique. Experimental data for three kinds of processing are demonstrated mainly based on our recent researches of depositions of functional materials, such as high temperature semiconductor SiC and diamond, ionic conductor $ZrO_2-Y_2O_3$ and high critical temperature superconductor $YBa_2Cu_3O_7-x$. Special emphasis is given to thermal plasma flash evaporation, in which nanometer-scaled clusters generated in plasma flame play important roles as nanometer-scaled clusters as deposition species. A novel epitaxial growth mechanism from the "hot" clusters namely "hot cluster epitaxy (HCE)" is proposed.)" is proposed.osed.

  • 본 논문은 단일 VOD 환경에서의 서버/클라이언트 간 데이터 서비스 모델을 분석하고 이를 병렬 VOD 환경에 적용함으로써 보다 나은 사용자 QoS(Quality of Service)를 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위해 단일 VOD 환경에서는 클라이언트가 데이터를 요청하고 서버가 전달해주는 Client Pull 모델과 서버 측에서 일방적으로 데이터를 전달해주는 Server Push 모델을 네트워크상 전달지연 측면에서 분석하고 위 두 모델.을 통합한 IPP(Interleaving Pull & Push) 서비스 모델과 Client Pull 모델을 전달지연과 클라이언트 버퍼 내 데이터 잔여량 측면에서 병렬 VOD 환경에서 적용 및 비교하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 병렬 VOD 환경에서 IPP 서비스 모델이 가장 적은 전달지연과 보다 안정적인 클라이언트 버퍼를 유지함을 알 수 있으며 이를 동해 사용자에게 보다 나은 서비스를 제공할 수 있다.

  • According to the increasing power demand for the future construction of many underground cables will be required. However, construction of new ducts for power cables will be more difficult. Therefore, research work for realizing the high temperature superconducting(HTS) cable has advanced, where the development of electrical insulating system at cryogenic temperature is one of the major researches. For an electrical insulation design of HTS cable, it is important to understand not only breakdown but also partial discharge and dielectric loss($tan{\delta}$) in liquid nitrogen/paper composite insulation system. In this paper, we investigated breakdown characteristics in liquid nitrogen/paper composite insulation system for the application to HTS cable. And, we studied the breakdown characteristics of the multi-layer and butt gap of the insulation papers in liquid nitrogen. Also, we measured dielectric loss($tan{\delta}$) of the mini-model Cable made of TERLAM IPP.

Development of the Machine Learning-based Employment Prediction Model for Internship Applicants (인턴십 지원자를 위한 기계학습기반 취업예측 모델 개발)

  • The employment prediction model proposed in this paper uses 16 independent variables, including self-introductions of M University students who applied for IPP and work-study internship, and 3 dependent variable data such as large companies, mid-sized companies, and unemployment. The employment prediction model for large companies was developed using Random Forest and Word2Vec with the result of F1_Weighted 82.4%. The employment prediction model for medium-sized companies and above was developed using Logistic Regression and Word2Vec with the result of F1_Weighted 73.24%. These two models can be actively used in predicting employment in large and medium-sized companies for M University students in the future.

  • This study investigates the risks that can occur during the development stage of IPP project in developing countries. In case that ECA and MLA cannot participate due to poor credit rating of the country, the diversification of power purchaser in marginal states can be a great help to reduce both market risk and country risk at the same time. In case of thermal power plants and combined cycle power plants, the effect of performance degradation as time passed will be considered and expected profit of sponsors should be maintained. Recently, developing countries are expanding IPP projects to reduce the financing cost and Korean power companies are positively participating in IPP projects. Accordingly, the loss of Korean companies should be minimized by risk management through the risk mitigation methods of this study.

Risk Evaluation of the Project Finance for Overseas Independent Power Projects Using a Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Analysis (퍼지 다기준 의사결정분석을 통한 해외 독립발전사업 사업금융 리스크 분석)

  • The purpose of this paper is the provision of a decision-making tool for developers to identify the project risks for under-consideration overseas independent power projects (IPPs), and to analyze the priority and importance weights of the risks through the employment of a fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approach. A fuzzy MCDM is the calculation method for which the imprecision of each respondent's unique opinion is considered. Through the extensive literature surveys that were conducted for this paper, eight major project finance (PF) risks have been derived credit risk, completion risk, market risk, fuel risk, operating risk, financial risk, environmental risk, and force majeure. The empirical results show that the market risk is the most important risk factor in terms of overseas IPPs, thereby confirming that the long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) guarantee of the host country is one of the most important corresponding factors for the PF.

Slip-Related Changes in Plantar Pressure Distribution, and Parameters for Early Detection of Slip Events

  • Objective To investigate differences in plantar pressure distribution between a normal gait and unpredictable slip events to predict the initiation of the slipping process. Methods Eleven male participants were enrolled. Subjects walked onto a wooden tile, and two layers of oily vinyl sheet were placed on the expected spot of the 4th step to induce a slip. An insole pressure-measuring system was used to monitor plantar pressure distribution. This system measured plantar pressure in four regions (the toes, metatarsal head, arch, and heel) for three events: the step during normal gait; the recovered step, when the subject recovered from a slip; and the uncorrected, harmful slipped step. Four variables were analyzed: peak pressure (PP), contact time (CT), the pressure-time integral (PTI), and the instant of peak pressure (IPP). Results The plantar pressure pattern in the heel was unique, as compared with other parts of the sole. In the heel, PP, CT, and PTI values were high in slipped and recovered steps compared with normal steps. The IPP differed markedly among the three steps. The IPPs in the heel for the three events were, in descending order (from latest to earliest), slipped, recovered, and normal steps, whereas in the other regions the order was normal, recovered, and slipped steps. Finally, the metatarsal head-to-heel IPP ratios for the normal, recovered, and slipped steps were $6.1{\pm}2.9$, $3.1{\pm}3.0$, and $2.2{\pm}2.5$, respectively. Conclusion A distinctive plantar pressure pattern in the heel might be useful for early detection of a slip event to prevent slip-related injuries.
