Stand-Alone Pico-Hydro Generation System using a High-Efficiency IPM Synchronous Generator

  • This paper presents a successful stand-alone pico-hydro generation system using a high-efficiency interior permanent-magnet (IPM) synchronous generator. A 1-kW 4-pole V-type IPM generator with low voltage regulation is used for laboratory test in stand-alone hydro energy conversion system. It has been found from experimental results that the constant output voltage is supplied stably by the proposed system under wide speed range.

  • In this paper, the Interior Permanent Magnet Generator utilizing the power of the robot engine was designed. We designed considering the required power of the auxiliary power to be also used in robot. The rotor which is suitable for the high speed operation was designed. And the generator which utilized this finite element method (FEM) and can deliver the optimum output to the auxiliary power was designed.

  • Surface Permanent-Magnetic-Synchronous-Generator (SPMSG) discussed in the present study has operational characteristics such as high rotational speed over 1,000 rpm and centrifugal force of 12 kN·m for each magnet. Structure-development analysis for the minimization of rotor-core weights and the maximization of thermal emission is performed by applying the aluminum-laminated cap which combines the advantages of IPM and SPM in order to overcome the difficulty that attaching the magnet to rotor-core only with an adhesive. In this study, the simulations in terms of structure and electromagnetic were performed with the variable parameters such as shape and thickness of laminated-cap and division method of magnet. As a result, condition for minimized centrifugal force with minimum loss is derived.

  • This paper presents a study on DSP(TMS320F240) controller design for multi-axes transportation system using BLDC servo motor. This BLDC servo motor controller was realized with DSP(Digital Signal Processor) and IPM (Intelligent Power Module). The multi-axes transportation system needs torque, speed, position control of servo motor for variable action. This paper implements those servo control with vector control and space vector modulation technique. As CPU of controller DSP(TMS320F240) is adopted because, it has PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) waveform generator, A/D(Analog to Digital) converter, SPI(Serial Peripheral Interface) port and input/output port etc. The controller of multi-axes transportation system consists of 3-level hierarchy structure that main host PC manages three sub DSP system which transfer downword command and are monitoring the states of end servo controllers. Each sub DSP system operates eight BLDC servo controllers which control BLDC servo motor using DSP and IPM Between host system and middle digital signal processor communicate with RS-422, between main processor and controller communicate with SPI port.

  • With the development of power electronics, many new energy storage systems such as the superconducting magnetic energy storage, the flywheel energy storage, and the capacitive energy storage, etc. are being intensively studied recently in order to replace battery in some special applications, Among these innovative energy storage systems, the flywheel system exhibits some unique features such as high power density, easy maintenance and longer lifetime. This paper introduces the novel flywheel energy storage system. Operation and features of the system are illustrated and verified on a 6kVA, 20kHz IPM based experimental circuit for O/A application. The Halbach Array Motor is selected of the design of the three phase motor/generator for the flywheel energy storage system.

Test Generation for Partial Scanned Sequential Circuits Based on Boolean Function Manipulation (논리함수처리에 의한 부분스캔순차회로의 테스트생성)

  • This paper describes a test generation method for sequential circuits which improves the application limits of the IPMT method by applying the partial scan design to the IPMT method. To solve the problem that the IPMT method requires enormous computation time in image computation, and generates test patterns after the partialscan design is introduced to reduce test complexity. Scan flip-flops are selected for the partial scan design according to the node size of the state functions of a sequential circuit in their binary decision diagram representations. Experimental results on ISCAS'95 benchmark circuits show that a test generator based on our method has achieved 100% fault coverage by use of either 20% scan FFs for s344, s349, and s420 or 80% scan FFs for sl423. However, test gener-ators based on the previous IPM method have not achieved 100% fault coverage for those circuits.
