Performance Improvement of IPM-type BLDC Motor Using the Influx Method of Spatial Harmonic in Air-gap Flux Density (공극 자속밀도의 공간 고조파 유입 방법을 통한 IPM type BLDC Motor의 성능 개선)

  • This paper proposes a method for reducing the negative spatial harmonics of the radial flux density of an interior-type permanent magnet (IPM) motor. The reliability of the motor is increased by minimizing its vibrations under dynamic eccentricity (DE) state and normal state due to reduction of a negative spatial harmonics component through the influx of a zero spatial harmonics component in the radial flux density. To minimize the vibrations, optimal notches corresponding to the distribution shape of the magnetic field are designed on the rotor pole face. The variations of vibration computation by finite element method (FEM) and the validity of the analysis and rotor shape design are confirmed by vibration and performance experiments.

  • This paper presents the improvement of dynamic characteristics in Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) type BLDC motor with notch. The notch is applied on the surface of the rotor to reduce the cogging torque and to improve dynamic characteristics. The current, inductance and torque of initial model and optimal model are analyzed by FEA. The validity of improved dynamic characteristics is confirmed.

  • This paper presents methods to reduce acoustic noise in interior permanent magnet (IPM) motor. Mechanical and magnetic sources are considered to reduce noise of the machine, and structural and electromagnetic designs are performed. In the structural design to reduce mechanical source, the structural resonances are moved to higher frequency for enhancement of stiffness. Then, the electromagnetic design to reduce magnetic source, the amplitudes of magnetic force harmonics are reduced by using objective function of response surface methodology (RSM). The validity of the design process and objective functions is confirmed with their calculated and experimental results.

  • In this paper, a design method for minimizing the cogging torque of an Interior Permanent Magnet Motor (IPM) is proposed based on a hybrid algorithm. The suggested optimization algorithm is based on a combination of the Response Surface Method (RSM) and Simplex Method. The results show that the proposed method provides improved characteristics compared to the conventional methods, such as a shorter calculation time and the acquisition of a more correct solution.

  • Noise sources in electric machines are broadly categorized as magnetic, mechanical, electronic and aerodynamic. Especially, there are several kinds of noise sources due to the change of reluctance by rotor position in IPM motor. To separate acoustic noise by mechanical structure and electromagnetic sources, resonance frequency and the effect of vibration and acoustic noise by electromagnetic sources are analyzed. And then, the structural and electromagnetic designs to reduce acoustic noise are performed. The relevance about the study on noise reduction of IPM motor is verified by noise experiment, noise and vibration analysis.

  • This paper deal with the shape design of the rotor and stator to maximize the torque density in Interior Permanent Magnet(IPM) Motor. We make various motor models to analyze torque density. Using the two-dimensional finite element method, these motor models are discussed under the same condition. As a result, we have found the better shape of model.

  • This paper presents a design notch to reduce cogging torque of interior type permanent magnet motor. As design notch on rotor of IPM motor, magnetic field from between rotor and teeth of state is changed. By reason of variation magnetic field, cogging torque is generated. Through Fourier formulation of magnetic field on rotor, we found position of notch and manufactured armature that is designed by optimizing analysis. The validity of the proposed design is confirmed with experiments.

  • IPM(Interior Permanent Magnet) 모터는 마그네틱 토크와 릴럭턴스 토크를 이용하는 모터이다. 이런 IPM 모터에 쓰이는 영구 자석 중 희토류 자석은 온도에 취약한 특성이 있어 낮은 온도에 비해 높은 온도에서 더 쉽게 불가역감자가 발생할 수 있다. 또한 페라이트자석에 비해 상대적으로 가격이 비싸 희토류 저감 IPM 모터 개발이 지속적으로 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 희토류 저감 IPM 동기모터의 영구자석 위치를 변화한 3가지 U자형 2층 IPM 모터 모델을 선정하여 회전자 전류의 크기 및 위상 그리고 약자속 제어를 고려한 불가역 감자 특성을 비교 및 분석하였다. 이렇게 분석한 결과를 바탕으로 IPM 설계 시 불가역감자에 강인한 설계 방법에 대하여 고찰하였다.

  • This paper presents an estimation scheme of the external torque applied on the motor by using measured motor input current when the IPM(Interior Permanent Magnet) rotor type BLDC motor operates with constant speed. In general, the BLDC motor is controlled by vector control method. If it could be operated at over critical speed, the control scheme must be modified to flux-weakening control method. The external torque applied on the motor using flux-weakening control method could not be calculated by conventional torque equation because the demagnetizing current Id exists in the motor input current. In this paper, the commonly used flux-weakening control method is studied and the modified torque estimation scheme is suggested. The estimation scheme has been verified by the simulations and experimental results.
