  • This paper proposes packet aggregation scheme for considering energy consumption of mobile devices on guaranteeing quality of voice. To our purpose, we analyze VoIP service on wireless multi-hop channel in terms of delay, packet loss and energy consumption when packet aggregation scheme is applied to VoIP service. Moreover, we induce a cost function with considering of tradeoff relation between quality of voice and energy consumption.

  • Improving voice quality is a major concern in telecommunications. In this paper, we propose a robust speech quality enhancement against background noise and packet loss at VoIP (Voice-over-IP) receiver. The proposed method combines network jitter estimation based on hybrid Markov chain, adaptive playout scheduling using the estimated jitter, and speech enhancement based on restoration of amplitude and phase to enhance the quality of the speech signal arriving at the VoIP receiver over IP network. The experimental results show that the proposed method removes the background noise added to the speech signal before encoding at the sender side and provides the enhanced speech quality in an unstable network environment.

  • In this paper, a new data frame structure for wavelength routing in optical ring access network(ORAN) is designed and the functions of each field in the frame are defined. In addition, the IP packet transmission to the network layer corresponding to the newly proposed structure of the protocol stack is newly presented. Tha data transmission protocol design techniques of ORAN was proposed. IP packet and broadcasting packet transmission within the sub-network, and the IP packet transmission to other sub-network was shown through the process illustration. In the process, the encapsulation and framing process of the wavelength information to routing has been described in detail. And each step takes place in a packet transfer process is demonstrated. A ring type optical access network protocol is not yet research field. ORAN data transfer protocol to send/receive module structure of a subscriber node and a control node of the two rings which analyzed the results are shown. The high-speed Internet solution is proposed that by using wavelength routing the packet transport protocol for ORAN is designed.

  • Performance of TCP can be severely degraded in Mobile IP-based wireless networks where packet losses not related to network congestion occur frequently during inter-subnetwork handoffs by user mobility. To solve such a problem in the networks using Mobile IP, the packet buffering method at a base station(BS) recovers those packets dropped during handoff by forwarding the buffered packets at the old BS to the mobile users. But, when the mobile user moves to a congested BS in a new foreign subnetwork, those buffered packets forwarded by the old BS are dropped and TCP transmission performance of a mobile user degrades severely. In this paper, we propose a Modified BLUE(MBLUE) buffer required at a BS to increase TCP throughput in Mobile IP-based networks. When a queue length exceed a threshold and congestion grows, MBLUE increases its packet drop probability. But, when a TCP connection is added at new BS by a handoff, the old BS marks the buffered packets. And new BS receives the marked packets without dropping. Simulation results show that MBLUE buffer reduces congestion during handoffs and increases TCP throughputs.

  • As the Internet Protocol be widely/rapidly used in packet communication, common carriers are providing the multimedia service(Both direction real-time voice, video conference, remote educational etc.)on the Internet. Also the 070 VoIP (Voice over IP) service is provided by the carriers on the packer network. In order to offer VoIP service in Korea, common carrier has to acquire the optimum level for QoS(quality of service). In this paper, we study on CODEC quality to get a higher QoS for VoIP.

  • In this paper, we described the software development for verifying the integrity of output data of TCP/IP for VLBI Correlation Subsystem (VCS) correlation block and proposed the performance improvement method in order to prevent the data loss of correlation output. The VCS correlation results are saved at the Data Archive system through TCP/IP packet transmission. In this paper, the integrity verification software is developed so as to confirm the integrity of correlation result saved at the data archive system using TCP/IP packet information of VCS. The 3-step integrity verification process is proposed by using the developed software, its effectiveness was confirmed in consequence of correlation experiments. In addition, TCP/IP packet transmission must be completed within minimum integration period. However, there is not only TCP/IP packet loss occurred but also the problem of correlation result integrity affected in account of a large quantity of packets and data during short integration time. In this paper, the reason of TCP/IP packet loss is analyzed and the modified methods for FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) of VCS are proposed, the integrity problem of correlation results will be solved.

  • In this paper, we propose a new scheme which improves the IP address lookup time. The new scheme is composed of two core technologies, named the prefix alignment and the prefix distance ordering. Now, as the Internet is being used commonly by improving the data transmission capacity, the need for enlarging the bandwidth of the Internet is on the rise. IP address lookup performance problem is an important obstacle in the router executing high speed packet forwarding. This results from the fact that the prefixes routing table is composed of and the traffic being processed in unit time are largely on the increase. The proposed lookup scheme is divided into two parts in technology, the one is the algorithm forming a routing database(routing table), the other is the lookup procedure in the actual packet processing.

  • MPLS LER is located at the boundary of MPLS domain as an ingress or an egress router and plays a role in connecting with the existing Internet. Among the components of the MPLS LER, forwarding engine(FE) is a key device which assigns a label to an IP packet by analyzing the destination address of its header in order to enter the MPLS domain, or restructures the cells from MPLS domain into IP packet by reversely processing. In this paper, we investigate the design of FE by analyzing the traffic performance of its components and estimate the IP packet processing capacity of a FE using queueing model and simulation. It is found that the maximum IP packet processing capacity of the Forwarding Engine is about 150,000 packets/sec.

  • Improving the quality of service in IP networks is a major challenge for real-time voice communications. In particular, packet arrival-delay variation, so-called "jitter," is one of the main factors that degrade the quality of voice in mobile devices with the voice-over Internet protocol (VoIP). To resolve this issue, a receiver-based enhanced timing recovery algorithm combined with active jitter estimation is proposed. The proposed algorithm copes with the effect of transmission jitter by expanding or compressing each packet according to the predicted network delay and variations. Additionally, the active network jitter estimation incorporates rapid detection of delay spikes and reacts to changes in network conditions. Extensive simulations have shown that the proposed algorithm delivers high voice quality by pursuing an optimal trade-off between average buffering delay and packet loss rate.

  • Existing Cellular IP increases the network traffic load, packet loss and handoff latency because of duplicate packet. In this paper, we propose using a Combined Cache that unites a pasing cache with a routing cache and a Improved Adaptive Semi-soft handoff that minimizes to occur the duplicate packet. As a computer simulation, we consider packet loss, handoff latency and traffic load in network. In proportion the number of nodes, mobile hosts and downlinks of node in access network increased, the proposed method is largely improved in comparison with existing Cellular If that uses semi-soft handoff.
