The physical properties of ${\kappa}/{\lamda}$- and ${\kappa}/{\iota}$-carrageenan films, mixed with ${\lamda}$- or ${\iota}$-carrageenan (${\kappa}:{\lamda}$ or ${\kappa}:{\iota}$ = 2:1, 1.5:1.5, 1.2:1.8) and with polyethylene glycol, were compared to those of ${\kappa}$-, ${\lamda}$-, or ${\iota}$-carrageenan films. The tensile strengths of the ${\kappa}/{\lamda}$- and ${\kappa}/{\iota}$-carrageenan films decreased with increasing mixing ratios of ${\kappa}/{\lamda}$- or ${\kappa}/{\iota}$-carrageenan, respectively, and were lower than those of the ${\lamda}$- and ${\iota}$-carrageenan films. The elongations and water vapor permeabilities of the ${\kappa}/{\lamda}$- and ${\kappa}/{\iota}$-carrageenan films increased with increasing mixing ratios of ${\lamda}$- and ${\iota}$-carrageenan, respectively, and were higher than those of the ${\lamda}$- or ${\iota}$-carrageenan films.
1. On the basis of the samples collected on the eastern coast of Koje-Do from May to September, 1969, studies have been made on the growth and the relationships between the carapace length and the body length, and between the carapace length and the body weight of Penaeus japonicus Bate. 2. The mean carapace length of P. japonicus was 51mm in May, 57mm in June, 47mm in July and 50mm in September respectively. 3. As a result of the present studies two populations of P. japonicus exist in waters around Koje-Do, namely the spring and fall spawning populations. 4. The relationship between the carapace length ($\iota$) and the body length(L) and between the carapace length and the body weight (W) are indicated by the following equations: May $$L=2.6544{\iota}+3.1258$$$$W=1.892{\iota}^{1.9844}$$ June $$L=2.8659{\iota}+2.1796$$$$W=1.082{\iota}^{2.4323}$$ July $$L=2.5840{\iota}+3.3090$$$$W=1.290{\iota}^{2.3094}$$ September $$L=2.4234{\iota}+4.5775$$$$W=1.599{\iota}^{2.1857}$$ 5. With regard to the relationships between the carapace length and the body length and between the carapace length and the body weight there is no significant difference between the populations spawning in June and September. 6. The relationships between the carapace length ($\iota$) and the body length (L) and between the carapace length and the body weight (W) for the samples cultured at three different localities are indicated by the following equations: Koje-do $$L=3.7738{\iota}+0.0805\;(r=0.934)$$$$W=0.4690{\iota}^{3.0713}$$ Oma-do $$L=2.993{\iota}+1.6455\;(r=0.990)$$$$W=0.6328{\iota}^{2.6579}$$ Kumdang-do $$L=3.2749{\iota}+0.9055\;(r=0.983)$$$$W=0.5768{\iota}^{2.8076}$$ 7. During the larval stages the relationship between the body length (L) and the rearing day (D) is indicated by the following equations: Zoeal stages (1-3) L=0.1279D+0.2686 (r=0.979) Mysis (1) - Post larva (6) L=0.1697D+0.5634 (r=0.994) Post-larvs (7) - Post larvs (21) L=0.1344D+1.9501 (r=0.978)
[ ${\ll}$ ]n divisions of figures(${\pi}{\varepsilon}{\rho}{\acute{\iota}}\;{\delta}{\iota}{\alpha}{\iota}{\rho}{\acute{\varepsilon}}{\sigma}{\varepsilon}{\omega}{\nu}\;{\beta}{\iota}{\beta}{\lambda}{\acute{\iota}}o{\nu}$)${\gg}$ is one of the works written by Euclid, but little known to us. In this paper, we introduce this Euclid's book on divisions of figures with its brief history, analyse its contents, and discuss how to use it in mathematics education.
An OFDM/offset QAM (OQAM)-IOTA system uses the isotropic orthogonal transform algorithm (IOTA) function, which has good localization properties in the time and frequency domains. This is employed instead of the guard interval used in a conventional OFDM/QAM system in order to be robust for multi-path channels. However, the conventional channel estimation scheme is not valid for an OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system due to the intrinsic inter-symbol interference of the IOTA function. In this paper, a condition is derived to reduce the intrinsic interference of the IOTA function. This condition is obtained with the proposed pilot structure used for perfect channel estimation. We also derive the preamble structure appropriate for practical channel estimation of the OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system. Simulation results show that the OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system with the proposed preamble structure performs better than the conventional OFDM system, and it has the additional advantage of an increased data transmission rate which corresponds to the guard interval retrieval.
Although conventional OFDM/QAM modulation scheme using guard interval is robust to channel induced ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) in time-domain, it is very sensitive to ICI (Inter-Carrier Interference) due to doppler effect in frequency domain. OFDM/OQAM-IOTA modulation scheme utilizes IOTA (Isotropic Orthogonal Transform Algorithm) filter that has orthogonality in time and frequency domain so that it is robust to delay spread and doppler effect. OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system can increase bandwidth effeciency since it does not use guard interval. In this paper, we show the structure of OFDM/OQAM-IOTA and perfect channel estimation scheme for OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system. We also compare OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system and OFDM/QAM system in AWGN and 1-path Rayleigh fading channel. Simulation results show that OFDM/OQAM system outperforms OFDM/QAM system.

OFDM/OQAM(Offset QAM)-IOTA system requires the IOTA(Isotropic Orthogonal Transform Algorithm) function that has superior localization property in time and frequency domain instead of guard interval used for conventional OFDM/QAM system to be robust to multipath channel. Therefore, OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system has more spectral efficiency than conventional OFDM/QAM system. But, when channel estimation scheme for conventional OFDM/QAM system is applied straightforwardly to OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system, an intrinsic Inter- symbol-Interference is observed. So suitable preamble structure for the channel estimation scheme of OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system is required. In this paper, we propose a new preamble structure that is appropriate to OPDM/OQAM-IOTA system and then perform ideal channel estimation and practical channel estimation in low-to-medium mobile speed and compare them with conventional OFDM/QAM system. Simulation results show that OFDM/OQAM-IOTA system with proposed preamble structure has 1.5 dB Eb/NO gain on Target BER $10^{-3}$ and about $25\%$ transmission rate gain against the conventional OFDM/QAM system considering quarter of FFT size as guard interval size.
The shrimp fishery for Penaeus japonicus on the Koje-Do coast commences in May and continues to October. The best catches are made twice a year, namely June and September. Modal carapace length for the female is $51\~55\;mm$ in May, $51\~60\;mm$ in June occupying about 80 percent of the total catch. There is conspicuous mode in July and $46\~50\;mm$ in August. Modal carapace length for the male is $41\~45\;mm$ in May, $46\~50\;mm$ in June, $41\~45\;mm$ in July and August. The stock of p. japonicus can be divided into two groups, namely, spring and fall groups. Among samples of p. japonicus during the period from May through August the sex ratio consisted of about 33 percent females and 67 percent males, showing wide departure from a 1:1 ratio. The relationships between carapace length ($\iota$), body length (L) and body weight (W) are expressed by the following formulae : $$L=2.9418{\iota}+2.0166$$, $$W:1.449{\iota}^{2.2858}$$ (Mayssample) $$L=2.5551{\iota}+4.2986$$, $$W=1.528{\iota}^{2.2595}$$ (June sample) $$L=2.6738{\iota}+3.4037$$, $$W=1.341{\iota}^{2.3598}$$ (July sample) The relatlonship between carapace length ($\iota$) and ovary weight (W) is shown as follows: $W=2.695\times10^{-3}\iota^{4.2973}$ for May, June and July Samples.
Seasonal changes in nutrients and suspended organic particulates were measured in the estuary of Nak-dong River in relation to the black laver bed. Monthly measurements of water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, nutrients ( $NH_4$-N, $NO_2$-N, $NO_3$\-N, $PO_4$-P and $SiO_2$-Si) and organic suspended particulates (organic carbon and nitrogen) were determined at five stations from February through December, 1970. PH varied 7.6-8.4 with an average of 8.0, and percent saturation of dissolved oxygen were 71-147% with an average of 100.8%. Studies gave evidence that Nak-dong River estuary is strongly enriched with nutrients. Concentrations of nutrients were: 0.13-12.54 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 1.63 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for $NH_4-N$, 0.12-2.09 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 0.71 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for $NO_2-N$, 3.46-56.79 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 21.54 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for $NO_3$-N, 4.04-57.90 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 23.79 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for total soluble nitrogen, 0.18-5.05 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 0.96 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for $PO_4$-P, and 18.33-133.29 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$ (averaging 71.57 ${\mu}g$-atoms/${\iota}$) for $SiO_2$-Si, respectively. These nutrient levels were considerably higher compare with other productive laver beds of Wan do and Pyung-il Do in Korea or Ise Bay in Japan. Concentrations of suspended organic particulates varied 55-648 ${\mu}g/{\iota}$ (averaging 392 ${\mu}g/{\iota}$) with organic carbon, 30-155 ${\mu}g/{\iota}$ (averaging 92 ${\mu}g/{\iota}$) with organic nitrogen, and its carbon-nitrogen ratios were varied within 1.5-8.4 with an average of 4.6.
A growth experiment of tilapia (offsprings of the hybrid between Oreochromis niloticus and O. mossambicus) under different dissolved oxygen levels in the recirculating water system was conducted at the Fish Culture Experiment Station of the National Fisheries University of Pusan from February 4 to March 5, 1986. Six tanks with a capacity of $1.8m^3$ of water each were used under the same condition of water parameters except for dissolved oxygen levels which were designated to maintain at 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 mg/$\iota$. Each tank was stocked with 90 kg of fish each averaging 64 to 69 grams. The average water temperature during the course of the experiment was $22.5^{\circ}C$. The results obtained are summarized as follows: The food conversion efficiencies were very good, being 1.05-1.11 at 3.5, 3.0, 2.5 and 2.0 mg/$\iota$ DO levels without any significant differences among them, but at 4.0 mg/$\iota$ the F. C. was 1.39 and at 1.5 mg/$\iota$ it was 1.61 being very poor compared with the others. The daily growth rate performance was best at 3.5 mg/$\iota$ dissolved oxygen level followed by 3.0 and 2.5 mg/$\iota$ with slight differences while at 4.0 and 2.0 mg/$\iota$ DO levels the growths were significantly poor, and at 1.5 mg/$\iota$ DO level it was extremely poor. In 1.5 mg/$\iota$ group, the fish did not accept feed vigorously and after feeding the fish usually concentrated around the inflow point showing oxygen deficiency response. While at 4.0 mg/$\iota$ high feeding rates tended to waste significant amounts of feed while eating and led to water deterioration, and above these levels the results is considered to lead to a waste of energy with uneconomical performance. On the other hand, at and below 2.0 mg/$\iota$ DO level the tilapia certainly showed a poor growth performance. The experiment indicates that the DO range of 2.5$\~$3.5 mg/$\iota$ is the optimum level for the good growth performance.
Background: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of IOTA simple rules in differentiating between benign and malignant ovarian tumors. Materials and Methods: A study of diagnostic performance was conducted on women scheduled for elective surgery due to ovarian masses between March 2007 and March 2012. All patients underwent ultrasound examination for IOTA simple rules within 24 hours of surgery. All examinations were performed by the authors, who had no any clinical information of the patients, to differentiate between benign and malignant adnexal masses using IOTA simple rules. Gold standard diagnosis was based on pathological or operative findings. Results: A total of 398 adnexal masses, in 376 women, were available for analysis. Of them, the IOTA simple rules could be applied in 319 (80.1%) including 212 (66.5%) benign tumors and 107 (33.6%) malignant tumors. The simple rules yielded inconclusive results in 79 (19.9%) masses. In the 319 masses for which the IOTA simple rules could be applied, sensitivity was 82.9% and specificity 95.3%. Conclusions: The IOTA simple rules have high diagnostic performance in differentiating between benign and malignant adnexal masses. Nevertheless, inconclusive results are relatively common.
