Bad sitting postures are known to cause for a variety of diseases or physical deformation. However, it is not easy to fit right sitting posture for long periods of time. Therefore, methods of distinguishing and inducing good sitting posture have been constantly proposed. Proposed methods were image processing, using pressure sensor attached to the chair, and using the IMU (Internal Measurement Unit). The method of using IMU has advantages of simple hardware configuration and free of various constraints in measurement. In this paper, we researched on distinguishing sitting postures with a small amount of data using just one IMU. Feature extraction method was used to find data which contribution is the least for classification. Machine learning algorithms were used to find the best position to classify and we found best machine learning algorithm. Used feature extraction method was PCA(Principal Component Analysis). Used Machine learning models were five : SVM(Support Vector Machine), KNN(K Nearest Neighbor), K-means (K-means Algorithm) GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model), and HMM (Hidden Marcov Model). As a result of research, back neck is suitable position for classification because classification rate of it was highest in every model. It was confirmed that Yaw data which is one of the IMU data has the smallest contribution to classification rate using PCA and there was no changes in classification rate after removal it. SVM, KNN are suitable for classification because their classification rate are higher than the others.

This paper presents a localization algorithm of the outdoor wheeled mobile robot using the sensor fusion method based on indirect Kalman filter(IKF). The wheeled mobile robot considered with in this paper is approximated to the two wheeled mobile robot. The mobile robot has the IMU and encoder sensor for inertia positioning system and GPS. Because the IMU and encoder sensor have bias errors, divergence of the estimated position from the measured data can occur when the mobile robot moves for a long time. Because of many natural and artificial conditions (i.e. atmosphere or GPS body itself), GPS has the maximum error about $10{\sim}20m$ when the mobile robot moves for a short time. Thus, the fusion algorithm of IMU, encoder sensor and GPS is needed. For the sensor fusion algorithm, we use IKF that estimates the errors of the position of the mobile robot. IKF proposed in this paper can be used other autonomous agents (i.e. UAV, UGV) because IKF in this paper use the position errors of the mobile robot. We can show the stability of the proposed sensor fusion method, using the fact that the covariance of error state of the IKF is bounded. To evaluate the performance of proposed algorithm, simulation and experimental results of IKF for the position(x-axis position, y-axis position, and yaw angle) of the outdoor wheeled mobile robot are presented.

The drastic growth of mobile communication and spreading of smart phone make the significant attention on Location Based Service. The one of most important things for vitalization of LBS is the accurate estimating position for mobile object. Focusing on IMU deployed in smart phone, we develop a hybrid positioning estimation framework with a combination of WPS. The developed approaches can strengthen the advantages of independent indoor applicability of IMU. The estimation of IMU is efficiently compensated by radio fingerprint based Wi-Fi Positioning System. We put a focus especially on the hybrid algorithmic framework. Compared on the existing approaches of WPS or IMU, we achieve the comparable higher performance on both of average error of estimation and deviation of errors. Furthermore test-bed based on smart phone platform is practically developed and all data have been harvested from the actual measurement of test indoor area. This can approve the practical usefulness of proposed framework.

3D data are in great demand for pedestrian navigation recently. For pedestrian navigation, we needs to reconstruct 3D model in detail from people's eye. In order to present spatial features in detail for pedestrian navigation, it is indispensable to develop 3D model not only in outdoor environment but also in indoor environment such as underground shopping complex. However, it is very difficult to acquire 3D data efficiently by mobile mapping without GPS. In this research, 3D shape was acquired by Laser scanner, and texture by CCD(Charge Coupled Device) sensor. Continuous changes position and attitude of sensors were measured by IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit). Moreover, IMU was corrected by relative orientation of CCD images without GPS(Global Positioning System). In conclusion, Reliable, quick, and handy method for acquiring 3D data for indoor environment is proposed by a combination of a digital camera and a laser scanner with IMU.

In this paper, an enhanced method for attitude determination is proposed for systems using an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). In attitude determination with IMU, it is generally assumed that the IMU can be located in the center of gravity on the vehicle. If the IMU is not located in the center of gravity, the accelerometers of the IMU are disturbed from additive accelerations such as centripetal acceleration and tangential acceleration. Additive accelerations are derived from the lever arm which is the distance between the center of gravity and the position of the IMU. The performance of estimation errors can be maintained in system with a non-zero lever arm, if the lever arm is estimated to remove the additive accelerations from the accelerometer's measurements. In this paper, an estimation using Kalman filter is proposed to include the lever arm in the state variables of the state space equation. For the Kalman filter, the process model and the measurement model for attitude determination are made up by using quaternion. In order to evaluate the proposed algorithm, both of the simulations and the experiments are performed for the simplified scenario of motion.
In this paper, we present a novel idea to integrate low cost Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU) and Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) for Telematics applications. As well known, low cost IMU produces large positioning and attitude errors in very short time due to the poor quality of inertial sensor assembly. To conquer the limitation, we present a bimodal approach for integrating IMU and DGPS, taking advantage of positioning and orientation data calculated from CCD images based on photogrammetry and stereo-vision techniques. The positioning and orientation data from the photogrammetric approach are fed back into the Kalman filter to reduce and compensate IMU errors and improve the performance. Experimental results are presented to show the robustness of the proposed method that can provide accurate position and attitude information for extended period for non-aided GPS information.
In this paper, we analyze the Non-Holonomic Constraint (NHC) satisfaction of Inertial Navigation System (INS) for vehicular navigation according to Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) location. In INS-based vehicle navigation, NHC information is widely used to improve INS performance. That is, the error of the INS can be compensated under the condition that the velocity in the body coordinate system of the vehicle occurs only in the forward direction. In this case, the condition that the vehicle's wheels do not slip and the vehicle rotates with the center of the IMU must be satisfied. However, the rotation of the vehicle is rotated by the steering wheel which is controlled based on the Ackermann geometry, where the center of rotation of the vehicle exists outside the vehicle. Due to this, a phenomenon occurs that the NHC is not satisfied depending on the mounting position of the IMU. In this paper, we analyze this problem based on Ackermann geometry and prove the analysis result based on simulation.

This paper reports the absolute position tracking algorithm of underwater vehicles such as ROV, AUV in global region by fusing sensor informations of IMU, DVL, USBL, DGPS etc. This algorithm is to be used in the position tracking of the 6,000m class deep-sea unmanned underwater vehicle, HEMIRE for scientific exploration.
In this paper, we propose an algorithm that estimates the location of lunar rover using IMU and vision system instead of the dead-reckoning method using IMU and encoder, which is difficult to estimate the exact distance due to the accumulated error and slip. First, in the lunar environment, magnetic fields are not uniform, unlike the Earth, so only acceleration and gyro sensor data were used for the localization. These data were applied to extended kalman filter to estimate Roll, Pitch, Yaw Euler angles of the exploration rover. Also, the lunar module has special color which can not be seen in the lunar environment. Therefore, the lunar module were correctly recognized by applying the HSV color filter to the stereo image taken by lunar rover. Then, the distance between the exploration rover and the lunar module was estimated through SIFT feature point matching algorithm and geometry. Finally, the estimated Euler angles and distances were used to estimate the current position of the rover from the lunar module. The performance of the proposed algorithm was been compared to the conventional algorithm to show the superiority of the proposed algorithm.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) was developed for military purposes and developed as it is today by opening civilian signals (GPS L1 frequency C/A signals). The current satellite orbits the earth about twice a day to measure the position, and receives more than 3 satellite signals (initially, 4 to calculate even the time error). The three-dimensional position of the ground receiver is determined using the data from the radio wave departure time to the radio wave Time of Arrival(TOA) of the received satellite signal through trilateration. In the case of navigation using GPS in recent years, a location error of 5 to 10 m usually occurs, and quite a lot of areas, such as apartments, indoors, tunnels, factory areas, and mountainous areas, exist as blind spots or neutralized areas outside the error range of GPS. Therefore, in order to acquire one's own location information in an area where GPS satellite signal reception is impossible, another method should be proposed. In this study, IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit) combined with an acceleration and gyro sensor and a geomagnetic sensor were used to design a system to enable location recognition even in terrain where GPS signal reception is impossible. A method to track the current position by calculating the instantaneous velocity value using a 9-DOF IMU and a geomagnetic sensor was studied, and its feasibility was verified through production and experimentation.
