Design of Dipole Array Antennas for PCS/IMT-2000 (PCS/IMT-2000을 위한 다이폴 배열 안테나의 설계)

  • In this paper, the rectangular reflector antenna with 8-dipole array for PCS band (1,750 MHz ~ l,870 MHz) and IMT-2000 band(1,885 MHz ~ 2,200 MHz) is designed and the radiation characteristics are analyzed using the method of moments and HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). To verify the analysis results, rectangular reflector antenna with 8-dipole array is fabricated and the calculated results are compared with the measured results. The measured results show good agreement with the calculated results. As a result of measurements, bandwidth(VSWR< 1.5) of 450 MHz is achieved at PCS and IMT-2000 band and gain is 16 dBi. The designed antenna can be used as the base station antenna for PCS/IMT-2000.

  • This paper proposes a novel simulator which is capable of loading different modules enabling to update the simulator easily when the 4G mobile communication technologies are revised. This simulator is not only designed based on IMT-Advanced channel model but also confirmed its reliability through mutual verification with Matlab based simulator developed by Winner+. The proposed simulator was evaluated on the basis of evaluation requirements on the IMT-Advanced. By comparing with experimental results for IEEE and 3GPP, it was also proved for the simulator to have a better performance.

  • IMT-2000 system is expected to start its service at the beginning of 2000 on the purpose of providing with the highest qualitative service through one mobile terminal. In this paper, we investigate some of the important issues which need to be addresses in designing an authentication protocol for IMT-2000. Also proposed is an authentication protocol which addresses the above issues, and we design a correct and efficient authentication protocol to establish secure communication channel. Our protocol provides an authentication of the communication entities, location privacy, and secure messaging as well as global roaming service.

  • In the integrated systems of wired and wireless networks, it is not fit to separate cellular networks to intelligent networks so IMT-2000 is basically developed including the intelligent networks. But it is not yet determined how functional entities of IMT-2000 map the corresponding physical entities. In this paper, we propose the integrated model by mapping various functional entities of IMT-2000 into the corresponding physical entities. Also, we proposs the call model for the mobile call setup and IN service call. Based on the proposed model, we evaluate the performance and compare with IMT-2000 in terms of the mean service delay and processing delay at each physical entities.

  • IMT-2000 will provide worldwide mobile telecommunication services with the extended coverage areas such as polar regions and mountainous district. GMPCS also provides global telephony and paging services via satellite network at the altitude of 500~12,000 km. "Big LEO" which is one of the GMPCS systems using frequency above 1 GHz and IMT-2000 will share the frequency range of 1 to 3 GHz. Therefore, there exists possible interference between the two systems which can cause the performance degradation of both systems. In this paper, the radio-propagation modeling and interference analysis methods are presented and these methods are used to analyse the effect of the interference between IMT-2000 and GMPCS on system performance.rformance.

Indonesia's Efforts in Developing Halal Tourism through the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT)

  • This research aims to comprehend the progress of Halal tourism in specific Indonesian regions, including Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, and Riau Islands. It investigates ways to boost this progress through collaboration within the IMT-GT. Majority of the population in these areas, as in Malaysia and Southern Thailand, is Muslim. Consequently, developing Halal Tourism within the IMT-GT framework poses a challenge for them. While the IMT-GT framework already encompasses the Tourism and Halal Product sectors, it doesn't explicitly mention Halal Tourism aspect. Despite this, efforts to develop Halal Tourism in Indonesia offer opportunities for both domestic growth and taking advantage of proximity to two more advanced neighboring countries, Malaysia and Thailand, in this aspect. This research employs explanatory analysis, examining Indonesia's opportunities and approaches to developing the Halal Tourism sector, both domestically, designed by the Halal Tourism Development Strategic Plan 2021-2024, and within the IMT-GT framework itself. A new aspect of this study involves assessing the readiness within Indonesia and its correlation with the opportunities provided by the IMT-GT. Indonesia should actively embrace opportunities presented by its two neighboring countries. The recognition through various awards that Indonesia has received can strongly motivate efforts to enhance the preparedness of regions designated for Halal Tourism. The economic corridors established by the IMT-GT among these three countries can serve as a conduit for Indonesia's advancement in developing Halal Tourism.

  • Recently, the mobile users seem to be rapidly increasing and then the capacity limit will be reached at close hand. In these situations, to provide them with good quality of service in the coming future, newly planned cell design is needed. In the next generation mobile communication systems, namely IMT-2000, good quality services will be possible only by designing the cell structure hierarchically with the help of appropriate cell planning. In the research process, the standardization reports on the future mobile cellular IMT-2000 system (3GPP) are investigated and the parameters, that are essential to cell planning, are also researched. Modeling of IMT-2000 radio link and the numerical analysis on that make it possible to calculate the forward/reverse link budget, system capacity call blocking probability Erlang capacity and cell coverage. In planning the cell of IMT-2000 system, various parameters are considered, such as hierarchical cell structure, number of users, data service forms and propagation area environments. From the results, efficient cell planning methods are proposed. Through this thesis efficient cell planning and maximum capacity will be achieved in the beginning of commercial IMT-2000 service.

  • We present a new MDA-based Mobile-IPv6 multicast routing algorithm for wirelese service operators to offer Mobile-IP over IMT-2000 service under IMT-2000 network by taking advantage of the existing infrastructure for IMT-2000 multimedia application services. The extended IMT-2000 system architectures use an PDSNs (i.e. IWFs), and the home network (i.e. Internet) backbone and intermediate network are composed of ATM entities. A key feature of the new protocol is the use of MDA(Multicast Delivery Agent) to reduce delivery path length of the multicast datagram. We show that proposed protocol is efficient in terms of various performance measures such as multicast traffic load, multicast related handoff, and average routing length when we implement it using the Mobile-IPv6. Particularly, the number of tunneling and average routing length of datagram are reduced relatively, the multicast traffic load is also decreased.

  • Mobile multimedia services such as TV-call or video streaming are gradually becoming popular in the 3rd or more generation mobile network (IMT-2000). Multimedia traffic is expected to continue increasing into the coming years, and IP technology is considered to be the efficient way of transporting such huge volumes of multimedia traffic. IP-based IMT network platform represents an evolution from IMT-2000. The structure of IP-based IMT network as ubiquitous platform is three-layered model : Middleware including Network Control PlatForm (NCPF) and Service Support PlatForm (SSPF), IP-BackBone (IP-BB), access network including sensor network. Mobility Management (MM) architecture in NCPF is proposed for IP-based IMT network in order to manage routing information and location information separately. The generous existing method of multicast control in IP-based IMT network is Remote Subscription. But Remote Subscription has problem that should be reconstructed whole multicast tree when sender in multicast tree moves to another area. To solve this problem, we propose the way to put Multicast-manager in NCPF.

  • IMT-2000 지상 시스템에서는 순방향 링크의 용량을 증대하기 위하여 다중 전송 안테나를 이용하는 다양한 전송 다이버시티 기법들이 연구되고 있으며, 3GPP를 위한 표준 가운데 하나인 폐쇄루프 전송 다이버시티 기법은 단말기에서 순방향 채널의 상태에 따라 전송 안테나의 가중치를 결정하여 궤환함으로써 여타의 기법에 비해 우수한 성능을 보인다. 하지만 지상 시스템과는 달리 IMT-2000 위성 시스템에서는 현재 전송 다이버시티에 대한 표준이 없는 상황이며 이에 대한 연구 역시 미진하다. 본 논문에서는 폐쇄루프 전송 다이버시티를 IMT-2000 위성 시스템에 적용한 결과를 제시한다. IMT-2000 위성 채널 모델에 대한 모의 실험 결과 2개 안테나를 이용하는 폐쇄루프 전송 다이버시티를 통해 단일 안테나 혹은 2개 안테나 전송 신호의 단순한 다이버시티 결합에 비해 월등한 성능 향상이 가능함을 확인하였다.
