범뇌하수체저하증의 호르몬 대체요법 중단 후 발생한 스트레스 심근병증 (A patient with stress induced cardiomyopathy that occurred after cessation of hormone replacement therapy for panhypopituitarism)

  • Stress induced cardiomyopathy (SC) is characterized by transient left ventricular (LV) dysfunction in the absence of coronary artery disease. We report on a patient with panhypopituitarism who developed SC resulting from withdrawal of hormonal replacement therapy (HRT). A 52-year-old male visited our hospital for progressively worsening dyspnea. The patient had discontinued HRT 7 days ago, which had been administered for 18 months after transsphenoidal adenomectomy for pituitary macroadenoma. Initial electrocardiogram showed marked sinus bradycardia. Transthoracic echocardiography showed apical ballooning with an LV ejection fraction of 25%. No significant obstructive lesions were observed on coronary angiography. With a clinical diagnosis of SC associated with panhypopituitarism, HRT was restarted, including glucocorticoid and thyroxine, along with standard heart failure management. His LV function had normalized at 2-month follow-up. He remains asymptomatic and administration of beta-blocker and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor were discontinued He currently only requires HRT.

목향생화탕(木香生化湯) 산후음료의 안전성과 산후조리에 관한 유효성 임상연구 (Effects of Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang beverage on Postpartum Recovery and Lactation)

  • Purpose : This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang beverage on postpartum recovery and lactation. One theory of oriental medical treatment for postpartum care is focused on increasing vitality and building up blood. Saengwha-tang are representative remedies for these respective principle of treatment. This experiment was carried out to evaluate the clinical effects of Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang on blood components, Body weight, BMI and prolactin level in postpartum. Methods : 65 postpartum women applied for this study, and 30 of them were included in this study. They were divided two groups. The experimental group were treated by Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang beverage, the control group were treated by citron beverage during 40 days. Then we observed the changes of the body weight, BMI, complete blood cell count, liver function test, renal function test, level of serum prolactin, Urine analysis and general conditon Questionnaire among baseline(before treatment), 1st phase(after 20 days treatment) and 2nd phase(after 40 days treatment). Results : After taking Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang beverage, body weight, body water, edema index, prolactin ana general condtion became better, but they were not statistically significant. Conclusion : This study shows that Mokhyangsaenghwa-tang can improve postpartum recovery, but more research is needed.

  • 첨단교통정보제공시스템(ATIS)분야는 실시간 교통정보를 가변전광표지(VMS), 인터넷, 교통방송 및 휴대폰 등 다양한 정보제공매체를 통해 제공함으로써 주어진 교통자원을 효율적으로 활용하여 도로 이용자들이 목적지까지의 통행함에 있어 시간 및 비용을 절감시킬 수 있도록 함에 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 교통정보는 시간적 경제적인 면뿐만 아니라 이용자의 심리나 정서적인 부분, 즉 교통정보를 제공받음으로 인한 불안감 해소와 같은 심리적인 부분에서도 상당한 편익을 제공할 수 있는 가치를 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 도로 이용자들이 느끼는 교통정보의 효용성을 평가하고 이용자가 느끼는 만족의 정도에 미치는 요인을 분석하고자, 다양한 교통정보 제공 매체별 이용자 만족도 모형을 구축하고자 하였다. 모형 구축 결과, 각 매체별로 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인과 그 영향정도가 조금씩 다르나, 공통적인 영향요인으로 운전자들이 교통정보를 보고 그로 인한 심리적인 안정감이나 경로선택 및 변경에 도움이 있었는지에 여부를 나타내는 효율성이 만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있음을 분석할 수 있었다.

BD Andromedae의 주기 변화와 광도곡선 분석

  • 2010년 11월 05일부터 11월 29일 중 총 12일간 진천 소재 충북대학교 천문대의 60cm 반사망원경과 ST-8 CCD 카메라를 이용하여 BD And의 BVR CCD 측광 관측을 수행하여 처음으로 BVR 광도 곡선을 완성하였다. 또한, 극심시각 결정을 위한 측광관측이 레몬산 천문대 1m 반사망원경과 충북대학교 천문대의 35cm 망원경으로 수행되었다. 우리의 관측과 SWASP 관측을 통하여 모두 31개의 극심시각을 새로이 결정하였다. 새로운 관측은 이 별의 공전주기가 이전까지 알려진 0.4629일이 아니라 그 두 배인 0.9258일이며, 기산점도 반주기 바뀌어야 함을 보여 준다. BD And의 광도요소를 Min I = HJD 2434962.8602 + 0.d9258054 E으로 새롭게 개정하였다. 이 광도요소로 작성한 우리의 BVR 광도곡선은 제1식과 제2식의 깊이가 거의 비슷하며, 식바깥 부분에 잘 발달된 파형 모양을 보인다. 이는 BD And가 짧은 주기의 RS CVn형 식쌍성임을 나타내는 것이다. 우리의 극심시각을 포함한 총 144개의 극심시각에 대한 (O-C)도를 작성한 결과, BD And의 공전주기가 규칙적으로 변화하는 것을 발견하였다. 이 변화를 보이지 않는 제3천체에 의한 광시간 효과로 가정하여, 궤도이심율이 0.78이며, 9.19년의 주기를 가진 광시간 궤도를 결정하였다.우리의 광도곡선을 2003년 Wilson-Devinney 쌍성 모형으로 분석하여 광도곡선 해를 질량비 q=1.1822, 궤도경사각 i=$86.^{\circ}16$, $T_1$=6358(K), $T_2$=6250(K), $r_1$=1.117(Rsun), $r_2$=1.321(Rsun)와 같이 산출하였다. 식바깥에서 나타나는 파형 모양의 변화는 주성의 표면에 매우 큰 흑점으로 잘 설명되며, BVR 광도곡선에서 각각 전체 광도의 각 6.4%, 8.1%, 9.9%에 해당되는 제3 광도가 검출되었다. 이는 주기연구에서 제안된 제3천체의 존재 가능성을 더 공고히 한다.

Functional Genomic Approaches Using the Nematode Caenorhabditis elegans as a Model System

  • Since the completion of the genome project of the nematode C. elegans in 1998, functional genomic approaches have been applied to elucidate the gene and protein networks in this model organism. The recent completion of the whole genome of C. briggsae, a close sister species of C. elegans, now makes it possible to employ the comparative genomic approaches for identifying regulatory mechanisms that are conserved in these species and to make more precise annotation of the predicted genes. RNA interference (RNAi) screenings in C. elegans have been performed to screen the whole genome for the genes whose mutations give rise to specific phenotypes of interest. RNAi screens can also be used to identify genes that act genetically together with a gene of interest. Microarray experiments have been very useful in identifying genes that exhibit co-regulated expression profiles in given genetic or environmental conditions. Proteomic approaches also can be applied to the nematode, just as in other species whose genomes are known. With all these functional genomic tools, genetics will still remain an important tool for gene function studies in the post genome era. New breakthroughs in C. elegans biology, such as establishing a feasible gene knockout method, immortalized cell lines, or identifying viruses that can be used as vectors for introducing exogenous gene constructs into the worms, will augment the usage of this small organism for genome-wide biology.

경직형 뇌성마비아동의 마사지 프로그램 적용이 근력, 관절가동범위 및 일상생활활동에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Therapeutic Massage Program on Range of Motion, Activities of Daily Living, Strength in Children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy)

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of massage program on muscle strength (MMT), range of motion (ROM) and activities of daily living (ADL) in children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods. The child welfare center of J city were measurement goniometer by range of motion and evaluation of activities of daily living scale and muscle strength scale. The massage program was applicated with 40 min, 2 times per a week and total 8 weeks. Massage program constituted surface of effleurage, petrisage, deep part of effleurage, friction in regular sequence. Result. For muscle strengths were significantly differenced after 8 weeks. For range of motion were dose dependent increased different two groups. And activities of daily living scale were significantly difference between massage group and non-massage group. Conclusion. In this study, the therapeutic massage program showed a positive effect for muscle strength, range of motion and activities of daily living in spastic cerebral palsy.

GO Guide : 생물학 온톨로지를 위한 브라우저 및 질의 변환 (GO Guide : Browser & Query Translation for Biological Ontology)

  • 생물학 분야에서 유전자에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어지면서 유전자에 대한 정보 구축 및 통합에 대한 필요성이 대두 되었다. 그 결과 Gene Ontology Consortium은 W3C에서 제정한 온톨로지 기술언어인 OWL로 유전자에 대한 정보와 분류를 담고 있는 Gene Ontology를 구축하였다. 하지만 Gene Ontology를 위한 기존의 브라우저들은 키워드, 트리, 그래프 기반의 단순 검색만을 지원할 뿐 다양한 관계를 고려한 고급 정보 검색이 불가능하다. 본 논문은 실제 생물학 연구를 수행하는 사용자들이 Gene Ontology를 효과적이고 편리하게 사용할 수 있도록 하기 위해 다양한 온톨로지 검색 기법을 통합적으로 지원하는 방법을 제안하였다. 또한 질의어 입력대신 검색 중에 손쉽게 질의를 생성하는 기법과 생성된 질의를 SeRQL 질의로 변환하는 기법을 제안함으로써 온톨로지에서 지원하는 질의어에 독립적으로 손쉽게 질의를 생성하고 고급정보를 얻을 수 있도록 하였다. 그리고 이렇게 구축한 GO Guide 브라우저를 통해 Gene Ontology의 방대한 정보를 효과적으로 이용할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Cyclohexene을 첨가한 PIP 공정 사용 Cf/SiC 복합재의 고밀도화 (Densification of Cf/SiC Composite Using PIP with Adding of Cyclohexene)

  • 탄소섬유강화 SiC기지상 복합재는 우수한 산화저항성과 우수한 열충격저항성을 가진다. 그리고 이런 특성들은 탄소섬유강화복합재가 고온구조재로서 응용케하였다. 본 연구에서는 $C_f/SiC$ 복합재가 전구체 함침과 액상 함침이 동반된 열분해공정, Cyclohexene을 사용한 화학기상 경화공정을 통해 제조되었다. 최종 제조된 $C_f/SiC$ 복합재는 5회 함침을 통해 $0.43g/cm^3$ 밀도를 갖는 탄소섬유 프리폼에서 $1.76g/cm^3$의 밀도값을 나타내고 있다. 그리고 산화저항성 특성면에서 $C_f/SiC$ 복합재의 무게가 공기중 $1400^{\circ}C$에서 6시간 유지 후에 81%가 남았다. 결과적으로 Cyclohexene을 사용한 화학기상 경화공정은 효과적으로 높은 치밀화와 증가된 산화저항성을 보이고 있다.

항응고제 또는 항혈전제와 활혈거어 한약 병용환자에서 침치료 안전성에 대한 후향적 환자-대조군 연구 (Safety of Acupuncture Therapy for Patients Undergoing Anticoagulants / antiplatelet-Hwalhyeolgeoeo Herbal Medication: Retrospective Casecontrol Study)

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety of acupuncture therapy when applied to patients who are undergoing anticoagulants / antiplatelet medication therapy combined with herbal medicine using a retrospective, case-control study. Methods : 428 charts of patients were reviewed in this study. Odds ratio between case of bleeding-related adverse event and control was calculated as main analysis. Exposures were anticoagulants / antiplatelet medication, Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine and combination of both drugs. Additionally, odds ratios were calculated according to the severity of bleeding-related adverse events. Results : The results were as following: 1. Analysis of all bleeding-related adverse events showed there was no increased risk of combined therapy compared with other exposures and control group. 2. Analysis of only clinically significant adverse events showed there was no increased risk of combined therapy compared with other exposure and control group. 3. Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine group showed a tendency of increased risk of bleeding-related adverse events in all analysis but was not statistically significant. Conclusions : The results suggest that Hwalhyeolgeoeo herbal medicine-anticoagulant / antiplatelet medication combined therapy may not increase risk of bleeding-related adverse events in acupuncture therapy. By executing various modules of analysis, it was possible to acquire useful data for possible future studies. Further research is needed to confirm such results.

식우(拭疣) 김수온(金守溫)의 『의방유취(醫方類聚)』 편찬 사적(事蹟) (Kim Su-On's Work on the Compilation of 『Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)』)

  • Kim Su-On(1409~1481) was a editor in King Sejong's times who worked on the publication of "Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)" and other major publications led by the royal family. This paper will review the works of Kim Su-On based on the medical background of early Joseon Dynasty and the medical book-reading officer system, and also evaluate his contribution to the development of medicine in early Joseon Dynasty, factoring in his life, ideas, and literary talent. By looking at the life of Kim Su-On, we can understand the role of Confucian doctors(儒醫) in the early Joseon Dynasty, how Confucian scholars who were learned in medicine supervised the compilation and correction of "Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)". Especially, from the poetry of "Sikujip(拭疣集)", contents regarding the proofreading of "Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)" between Im Won-jun and Kim Su-On shows the publication process of "Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)" at the reign of King Sungjong. His outstanding achievements are largely due to the medical book-reading officer system implemented around the time "Euibangyoochui (醫方類聚)" was published. The medical book-reading officer system aimed to increase the knowledge of various matters for the civil service bureaucrats, allowing them to become high-ranking officials in the fields of technology. Its another purpose was to compile specialty publications. Many of the civil service bureaucrats who participated in the medical book publications arranged the theoretical basis of medicine and modified experience medicine to a new medical system. The first edition of "Euibangyoochui(醫方類聚)" at King Sejong's reign collected vast medical information into 365 books. Then it was corrected during King Sejo's reign then finally completed and published at King Seongjong's reign. During this period, the experience medicine inherited from Goryeo Dynasty was reestablished into a new form of theoretical interpretation.
