Robust Fuzzy Control of a Class of Nonlinear Descriptor Systems with Time-Varying Delay

  • A robust fuzzy controller is designed to stabilize a class of solvable nonlinear descriptor systems with time-varying delay. First, a new modeling and control method for nonlinear descriptor systems is presented with a fuzzy descriptor model. A sufficient condition for the existence of the fuzzy controller is given in terms of a series of LMIs. Then, a less conservative fuzzy controller design approach is obtained based on the fuzzy rules and weights. This method includes the interactions of the different subsystems into one matrix. The effectiveness of the presented approach and the design procedure of the fuzzy controller are illustrated by way of an example.

Two-Level Scratchpad Memory Architectures to Achieve Time Predictability and High Performance

  • In modern computer architectures, caches are widely used to shorten the gap between processor speed and memory access time. However, caches are time-unpredictable, and thus can significantly increase the complexity of worst-case execution time (WCET) analysis, which is crucial for real-time systems. This paper proposes a time-predictable two-level scratchpad-based architecture and an ILP-based static memory objects assignment algorithm to support real-time computing. Moreover, to exploit the load/store latencies that are known statically in this architecture, we study a Scratch-pad Sensitive Scheduling method to further improve the performance. Our experimental results indicate that the performance and energy consumption of the two-level scratchpad-based architecture are superior to the similar cache based architecture for most of the benchmarks we studied.

혼합 예측기를 사용하는 효율적인 적재 명령어의 오퍼랜드 참조 기법 (An Improved Load Operand Referencing Scheme Using A Hybrid Predictor)

  • As processor's operational frequency increases and processors execute multiple instructions per cycle, the processor performance becomes more dependent on the load operand referencing latency and the data dependency. To reduce the operand fetch latency and to increase ILP by breaking the data dependency, we propose a value-address hybrid predictor using a reasonable size prediction buffer and analyse the performance improvement by the proposed predictor. Through the extensive simulation of 5 benchmark programs, the proposed hybrid prediction scheme accurately predicts 62.72% of all loads which are 12.64% higher than the value prediction scheme and show its cost-effectiveness compared to the address predition scheme. In addition, we analyse the performance improvement achieved by the stride management and the history of previous predictions.

  • The traveling purchaser problem(TPP) is a generalization of the well-known traveling salesman problem(TSP), which has many real-world applications such as purchasing the required raw materials for the manufacturing factories and the scheduling of a set of jobs over some machines, and many others. TPP also could be extended to the vehicle routing problem(VRP) by incorporating additional constraints such as multi-purchaser, capacity, distance and time restrictions. In the last decade, TPP has received some attention of the researchers in the operational research area. However it has not received the equivalent interest as much as TSP and VRP. Therefore, there does not exist a review of the TPP. The purpose of this paper is to review the TPP and to describe solution procedures proposed for this problem. We also introduce the ILP formulation for the multiple TPP(mTPP) which is generalized type of TPP. We compare the system performance according to change from TPP to mTPP.

학위논문 심사스케쥴링에 관한 연구 (A Thesis Committee Scheduling)

  • This problem analyzed in this paper is to specify a schedule for thesis committee allowing maximum committee members' preference over thesis topics and meeting time-slots while satisfying other related scheduling requirements such as prohibiting simultaneous assignment of a committee member to more than one committee at a time. Two mathematical programming applroaches are presented to solve the thesis committee scheduling problem in a professional graduate school. They include LP-based branch-and-bound approach with network subproblems. Characterization of the problem is analyzed to develop an efficient solution algorithm. Implementation and computational experiments are also performed for real size problems on an IBM PC/AT to show the relative performance of the propsoed approaches along with an ordinary ILP solution approach.

  • 와이드 이슈 슈퍼스칼라 프로세서에서 값 예측기는 한 명령어의 결과를 미리 예측하여 명령들 간의 데이터 종속관계를 극복하고 실행함으로써 명령어 수준 병렬성(Instruction Level Parallesim ILP)을 향상시키는 기법이다. 본 논문에서는 명령어 수준 병렬성을 이용하여 성능을 향상시키기 위하여 데이터 값을 미리 예측하여 병렬로 이슈하고 수행하는 값 예측기의 성능을 비교분석 한다. 먼저 값 예측기 종류별로 성능을 측정한다 그리고 테이블의 갱신시점, 트레이스 캐시 유무 및 명령윈도우 크기에 따른 값 예측기의 성능영향을 평가분석 한다. 성능분석 결과 최근 값 예측기가 간소한 하드웨어 구성에도 불구하고 우수한 성능을 보였다. 그리고 예측테이블 갱신시점과 트레이스캐시의 사용이 값 예측기의 성능향상에 영향을 주었다.

FDS 응용에 의한 하드웨어 소프트웨어 분할 알고리즘의 시간 복잡도 개선 (Improvement of time complexity of Hardware-Software partitioning algorithm using FDS)

  • 본 논문에서는 FDS를 응용한 하드웨어 분할 방법을 강 제약 조건을 만족하면서 FDS를 응용하는 방법보다 낮은 복잡도의 분할 알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존의 FDS 응용 방법은 힘값 계산에서 종속성에 의해 후위 연산이 받는 영향값을 계산하여야 하므로 이로 인한 시간 복잡도가 가중되었다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 복잡도를 저하시키기 위해 노드의 분포 그래프와 구현에 소요되는 비용, 그리고 해당 파티션에서의 실행시간 등에 의해 상대적 긴박도를 정의하여 분할을 수행하지만, 종속성 검사는 종속성 제약조건에 의한 분포그래프의 변화와 스케쥴에 대해서만 고려되며 힘값 계산에는 고려하지 않는다. 또한, 분할 단계에서 스케쥴링을 함께 고려함으로써 합성 이후에 재 스케쥴링의 부하를 경감할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안 알고리즘 결과는 ILP 결과와 비교 분석하였다.

  • In this paper we study the optimization issues of ring networks employing novel parallel multi-granularity hierarchical optical add-drop multiplexers (OADMs). In particular, we attempt to minimize the number of control elements for the off-line case. We present an integer linear programming formulation to obtain the lower bound in optimization, and propose an efficient heuristic algorithm called global bandwidth resource assignment that is suitable for the design of large-scale OADM networks.

  • 이 논문에서는 Best Imaginary Level-Iterative(BILI) 분할 방법이라 부르는 새로운 하드웨어/소프트웨어 분할 알고리즘을 제안하다. 이 분할 알고리즘은 여러 개의 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 이루어진 시스템에 대해서 분할을 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 여러 가지의 구현 가능성 중에서 적은 비용의 구현을 선택하는 문제까지 해결한다. 이 분할 알고리즘은 기존의 분할 알고리즘인 GCLP와 비교하여 약 15%의 비용 감소를 가지고, 항상 최적의 해를 찾는 장수 선형 프로그래밍과 비교하여 약 5%정도의 비용 증가를 가진다.

AND/OR 그래프를 이용한 공정계획과 일정계획의 통합에 관한 연구 (A Study on Integration of Process Planning and Scheduling Using AND/OR Graph)

  • Traditionally, the Process Planning problems and the Scheduling problems have been considered as independent ones. However, we can take much advantages by solving the two problems simultaneously. In this paper, we deal with the enlarged problem that takes into account both the process planning and the scheduling problems. And we present a solution algorithm for the problem assuming that the given process plan data is represented by AND/OR graph. A mathematical model(mixed ILP model) whose objective is the minimization of the makespan, is formulated. We found that we can get the optimal solutions of the small-size problems within reasonable time limits, but not the large-size problems. So we devised an algorithm based on the decomposition strategy to solve the large-scale problems (realistic problems) within practical time limits.
