National Meteorological Satellite Center(NMSC) of Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) is collecting GNSS data in near-real time for about 80 GNSS stations operated by multiple agencies. (eg. National Geographic Information Institute (NGII), Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI), DGNSS Central Office) Using these GNSS data, NMSC developed automatic Total Electron Contents(TEC) derivation system over the Korean peninsular every 1-hour based on single station data processing. We present the TEC result and validation of TEC using International GNSS Service(IGS) global TEC data for the case of quiet time and storm time. The future plans for the system improvement will be discussed.

The coverage area of a GNSS regional ionospheric delay model is mainly determined by the distribution of GNSS ground monitoring stations. Extrapolation of the ionospheric model data can extend the coverage area. An extrapolation algorithm, which combines observed ionospheric delay with the environmental parameters, is proposed. Neural network and least square regression algorithms are developed to utilize the combined input data. The bi-harmonic spline method is also tested for comparison. The IGS ionosphere map data is used to simulate the delays and to compute the extrapolation error statistics. The neural network method outperforms the other methods and demonstrates a high extrapolation accuracy. In order to determine the directional characteristics, the estimation error is classified into four direction components. The South extrapolation area yields the largest estimation error followed by North area, which yields the second-largest error.
This study is about the ionospheric variation on the Korean Peninsula using GPS TEC data from Daejeon IGS GPS site. It has accumulated the 11 years GPS data from 2000. In this work, the hourly and daily averaged TEC data are used. Data period covers a full solar cycle from 2000 to 2010 (11 years) which the total observed days are 98%. The mean TEC data shows the annual/semiannual variation, solar cycle and 27 days. GPS TEC has a good correlation with solar F10.7 index. We also compare with planetary Kp and AE indices. The maximum of the daily mean GPS TEC is around 50 TECU at 2000 and that value of 2009 is near 10 TECU. we confirms that the GPS TEC is a good indicator for ionospheric variation for the mid-latitudinal region to understand the ionospheric climatology over Korea Peninsula.
This research proposes the best combination of tropospheric delay models for Korean Positioning System (KPS). The overall results are based on real observation data of Japanese Quasi-Zenith satellite system (QZSS), whose constellation is similar to the proposed constellation of KPS. The tropospheric delay models are constructed as the combinations of three types of zenith path delay (ZPD) models and four types of mapping functions (MFs). Two sets of International GNSS Service (IGS) stations with the same receiver are considered. Comparison of observation residuals reveals that the ZPD models are more influential to the measurement model rather than MFs, and that the best tropospheric delay model is the combination of GPT3 with 5 degrees grid and Vienna Mapping Function 1 (VMF1). While the bias of observation residual depends on the receivers, it still remains to be further analyzed.
An investigation of species of the genus Aspergillus present in arthropod, freshwater, and soil led to the discovery of seven undescribed species in Korea. Based on their morphological characteristics and molecular phylogeny analyses using a combined data set of β-tubulin (BenA) and calmodulin (CaM) sequences, the isolated strains CNUFC IGS2-5, CNUFC YJ1-19, CNUFC WD27, CNUFC U8-70, CNUFC AS2-24, CNUFC S32-1, and CNUFC U7-48, were identified as Aspergillus brunneoviolaceus, A. capensis, A. floccosus, A. inflatus, A. parvulus, A. polyporicola, and A. spelaeus, respectively. In the present study, the detailed morphological descriptions and phylogenetic relationships of these species are provided.

EAREF(East-Asia Reference Frame) is based on the Eurasian Plate which is considered relatively stable. It is managing the coordinate reference system by a specific epoch through the networking of GNSS CORS of the East-Asia region covering North-east and South-east Asia. Also it'll be the goal to assist integrating the geospatial information management. This study aims to estimate the precise coordinates of EAREF in the East-Asia region at the epoch of January 1st of 2012 (2012.0) after the Great East Japan Earthquake. It is related to 1st stage study for construction of data sets and made up the data processing techniques through the various experiments to upgrade the accuracy. Based on the results of the study, we calculated the initial precise coordinates of the EAREF network from the 2012.0 epoch covering the East-Asia region. The accuracy of the estimated coordinates was compared with the weekly solution provided by the IGS analysis centre. The differences were 0.004m, 0.007m and 0.009m at the directions of X, Y and Z respectively. In addition, this study reviews the next procedure how to implement and upgrade the EAREF network.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) announced that an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude had occurred near the east coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, resulting in a displacement of the crust of about 2.4 meters. The Korean peninsula is located on the Eurasian tectonic plate that stretches out to Japan; therefore, there is a high possibility of being affected by an earthquake. The Korean GPS CORS network operated by the National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) was processed for ten days before and after the earthquake. Both static and kinematic baseline processing were tested for the determination of crustal deformation. The static baseline processing was performed in two scenarios: 1) fixing three IGS stations in China, Mongolia and Russia; 2) fixing SUWN, one of the CORS networks in Korea, in order to effectively verify crustal deformation. All data processing was carried out using Bernese V5.0. The test results show that most of the parts of the Korean peninsula have moved to the east, ranging 1.2 to 5.6 cm, compared to the final solution of the day before the earthquake. The stations, such as DOKD and ULLE that are established on the islands closer to the epicenter, have clearly moved the largest amounts. Furthermore, the station CHJU, located on the southwestern part of Korea, presents relatively small changes. The relative positioning between CORS confirms the fact that there were internal distortions of the Korean peninsula to some extent. In addition, the 30-second interval kinematic processing of CORS data gives an indication of earthquake signals with some delays depending on the distance from the epicenter.
To investigate genetic relationships either interspecies or intraspecies of 14 Korean Phytophthora species, sequence analyses of nuclear DNA (ypt gene and rDNA-IGS region) and mitochondrial DNA (Cox gene, $\beta$-tubuline gene, and EF1A gene) were performed. All of 14 Korean Phytophthora species clearly clustered into foreign isolates of each species. These Korean isolates in Phytophthora species also showed no correlation between molecular classification and morphological classification like as in case of foreigners. P. palmivora KACC 40167 reported previously from genetic groups of Phytophthora species in Korea was not consistent with the classification system, and therefore was required re-examination for the genetic group analysis. Korean isolates of P. drechsleri KACC 40195 showed very close relationship with P. cryptogea KACC 40161 above 94% bootstrap value in P. cryptogea-P. drechsleri complex group. Identification of these isolates is still unclear, because P. cryptogea and P. drechsleri were not differentiated in this study. On the other hand, it was required to unify species for these two species, since P. parasitica and P. nicotianae were clustered into a group on the level of 99 to 100% sequence homology. Comparing to the sequences of foreigners, Korean isolates were newly divided to ten groups in the phylogenic system. These results could be prepared useful informations to understand genetic diversity of Phytophthora species in Korea.

A network of MAC type was constructed in the Gyeonggi-do area to analyze the usefulness and validity of the Network RTK-GPS. Six sites were selected to conduct GPS observation for 24 hours, and by determining the ITRF of each site, coordinates were determined in connection with IGS network. Then check points which were established in Gimpo area were observed at least 7 times by Network RTK at 20 secs of retrieval intervals. The result showed high accuracy in the difference between the coordinates determined immediately by the in-field network survey and the current performance was 1-2cm. Its biggest benefit is the expanded range of survey and efficiency of practice. In summary, it is proved that a network survey has the accuracy, scalability and efficiency and it is expected that the network survey will contribute to the cadastral survey.

This research is suggesting the most effective positioning method for GPS based positioning when no GPS reference point is available in the neighborhood. For this purpose, we carried out positioning of the IGS realtime observatories in Australia in various conditions. According to the research, we were certainly assured the one reference point with a short baseline length is more effective for differential positioning than multiple reference points with a long baseline distance beyond 1,000km and suggested the precise point positioning based positioning method can be an excellent substitute when no reference point is available around an unknown point. The research result may be used as the basic data for accurate positioning in poor reference point environments, especially in Antarctica.
