  • In this paper, we propose an interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) to implement an automated 2D avatar synthesis. The IGA technique is capable of expressing user's personality in the avatar synthesis by using the user's response as a candidate for the fitness value. Our suggested IGA method isapplied to creating avatars automatically. Unlike the previous works, we introduce the concepts of 'hidden population', as well as 'primitive avatar' and 'simplified genotype', which are used to overcome the shortcomings of IGA such as human fatigue or reliability, and reasonable rates of convergence with a less number of iterations.   • 본 논문에서는 사용자 개개인에 최적화된 아바타를 생성하기 위해 대화형 진화 연산(Interactive Genetic Algorithm, IGA)을 적용하는 방법을 제안하고 있다. IGA는 사용자의 선택을 적합도 평가에 사용하는 방법이기 때문에, 사용자의 개인적인 취향을 아바타 생성 과정에 반영할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 IGA가 가지고 있는 단점을 극복하기 위해 'hidden population' , 'primitive avatar' , 'simplified genotype' 기법을 제안한다. 이러한 방법들은 단시간 내에 최적화된 결과물을 생성하도록 유도함으로써 IGA 시스템의 최대 문제점인 사용자의 피로도를 최소화한다. 마지막으로, 제안하고 있는 알고리즘의 우수성을 증명하기 위해 사용자의 만족도나 신뢰도를 측정할 수 있는 독자적인 평가 방법을 소개하고 있다.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Hwangryunhaedoktang-Gamibang on Postmenopausal Hot Flushes. Methods : This case study was done on 3 Postmenopausal Hot Flush patients who have visited Korean Medicine Clinic. Hwangryunhaedoktang-Gamibang was prescribed to all 3 patients and evaluated the symptom change through photographs and questionnaire. Investigator's Global Assessment(IGA) was used to evaluate the objective symptom and Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) was used to evaluate the subjective change. Results & Conclusions : The IGA and VAS were decreased in all patients. Most symptoms of 3 patients were improved. As a result of examining IGA, VAS scores and photographs, Hwangryunhaedoktang-Gamibang can be effective on Postmenopausal hot flush.

  • Microarray gene expression profiling technology is one of the most important research topics in clinical diagnosis of disease. Given thousands of genes, only a small number of them show strong correlation with a certain phenotype. To identify such an optimal subset from thousands of genes is intractable, which plays a crucial role when classify multiple-class genes express models from tumor samples. This paper proposes an efficient classifier design method to simultaneously select the most relevant genes using an intelligent genetic algorithm (IGA) and design an accurate classifier using Support Vector Machine (SVM). IGA with an intelligent crossover operation based on orthogonal experimental design can efficiently solve large-scale parameter optimization problems. Therefore, the parameters of SVM as well as the binary parameters for gene selection are all encoded in a chromosome to achieve simultaneous optimization of gene selection and the associated SVM for accurate tumor classification. The effectiveness of the proposed method IGA/SVM is evaluated using four benchmark datasets. It is shown by computer simulation that IGA/SVM performs better than the existing method in terms of classification accuracy.

Methods : This case study was done on 3 Facial Flush patients who have visited Korean Medicine Clinic. Gagamhwanggeum-tang was prescribed to all 3 patients and evaluated the symptom change through photographs and questionnaire.   • In this paper, we propose an interactive genetic algorithm (IGA) to implement an automated 2D avatar synthesis. The procedure of designing avatar models consists of two steps. The first step is to detect the facial feature points and the second step is to create the subjectively optimal avatars with diversity by embedding user's preference, intuition, emotion, psychological aspects, or a more general term, KANSEI. Finally, the combined processes result in human-friendly avatars in terms of both genetic optimality and interactive GUI with reliability.

Effect of the neuroprotetion and anti-Alzheimer's disease in CT99-induced Neuro 2A cells by Ikgiansintang water extract (CT99 발현 신경 세포주에서 익기안신탕(益氣安神湯)의 신경보호 및 항치매 효과)

  • Alzheimer's disease(AD) is a geriatric dementia that is widespread in old age. In the near future AD will be the biggest problem in public health service. It has been widely believed that $A{\beta}$ peptide devided from APP causes apoptotic neurotoxicity in AD brain. However, recent evidence suggests that n99 may be an important factor causing neurotoxicity in AD. Mouse Neuro 2A cells expressed with CT99 exhibited remarkable apoptotic cell damage. We invesgated the protective effects of Ikgiansintang water extract(IGA). Findings from our experiment have shown that IGA inhibits the activities of CT99, which has neurotoxicities and apoptotic activities in cell line. In addition treatment of IGA($50{\mu}g/ml$ for 24 hours) partially prevented CT99-induced cytotoxicity in Neuro 2A cells. As the result of this study, In IGA group, the apoptosis in the nervous system is inhibited, the repair against the degerneration of Neuro 2A cells by n99 expression is promoted. Base on these findings, IGA may be beneficial for the treatment of AD.

Isolation of Myrosinase and Glutathione S-transferase Genes and Transformation of These Genes to Develop Phenylethylisothiocyanate Enriching Chinese Cabbage (배추에서 항암물질 phenylethylisothiocyanate의 다량 합성을 위한 myrosinase와 glutathione S-transferase 유전자 분리 및 이를 이용한 형질전환체 육성)

  • To increase the anti-carcinogens phenylethylisothiocyanate (PEITC), myrosinase (MYR), and glutathione S-transferase (GST), genes related to PEITC pathway were isolated and the gene expressions were regulated by Agrobacterium transformation. Isolated cDNAs, MYR, and GST genes were 1,647 bp and 624 bp, respectively, and the protein expression was confirmed through pET system. Thereafter, we constructed a sense-oriented over-expressing myrosinase (pBMY) and RNAi down-regulated GST (pJJGST) binary vectors for the Chinese cabbage transformation. After the transformation, thirteen over-expressing transgenic Chinese cabbage plants (IMS) with pBMY and five down-regulated ones (IGA) with pJJGST were selected by PCR analysis. Selected $T_0$ transgenic plants were generated to $T_1$ plants by self-pollination. Based on the Southern blot analysis on these $T_1$ transgenic plants, 1-4 copies of T-DNA were transferred to Chinese cabbage genome. Thereafter, RNA expression level of myrosinase gene or GST gene was analyzed through real-time RT PCR of IMS, IGA, and non-transgenic inbred lines. In case of IMS lines, myrosinase gene was increased 1.03-4.25 fold and, in IGA lines, GST gene was decreased by 26.42-42.22 fold compared to non-transgenic ones, respectively. Analysis of PEITC concentrations using GC-MS it showed that some IMS lines and some IGA lines increased concentrations of PEITC up to 4.86 fold and up to 3.89 fold respectively compared to wild type. Finally in this study IMS 1, 3, 5, 12, and 15 and IGA 1, 2, and 4 were selected as developed transgenic lines with increasing quantities of anti-carcinogen PEITC.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR METALLOGRAPHIC OBSERVATION OF INTERGRANULAR ATTACK IN ALLOY 600 STEAM GENERATOR TUBES

  • This technical note provides some considerations for the metallographic observation of intergranular attack (IGA) in Alloy 600 steam generator tubes. The IGA region was crazed along the grain boundaries through a deformation by an applied stress. The direction and extent of the crazing depended on those of the applied stress. It was found that an IGA defect can be misevaluated as a stress corrosion crack. Therefore, special caution should be taken during the destructive examination of the pulled-out tubes from operating steam generators.
