A Study on Serologic Diagnosis for Dengue Virus Infection

  • Dengue fever (DF) is an acute febrile illness caused by dengue viruses in the family Flaviviridae, genus Flavivirus. DF has so far posed any problem in Korea, however it has been recently believed to be associated with oversea's traveler infected with dengue virus. Antibody titers of sera from DF patients against dengue virus were measured by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) and plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT), including the haematologic test. Three of patients with DF showed highly fluorescent and neutralizing antibody titers by IFA and PRNT assay. Two of them showed higher, remarkably. Meanwhile, one of them was tested and resulted in severe tirombocytopenia, elevated serum levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) activities as well as mild leucopenia, increased monocytes and basophils and depressed lymphocytes in haematological differential count.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대폰 GSM850/1800/1900 대역용 폴더폰 IFA를 설계하고 이를 제작하였다. 안테나의 전류 밀도의 증가를 위해 브랜치 구조로 설계함으로서 안테나의 효율 증가를 야기 시킨다. 안테나 효율 증가에 대한 실험은 기존의 GSM850/1800/1900 대역에 사용하는 휴대폰에 적용하여 제반 특성을 측정한다. 측정결과 폴더 닫힘 때 1.22dB, 폴더 열림 때 1.35dB 향상됨을 보인다.

  • In this paper, transformed IFA design is proposed to improve the antenna gain of GSM/DCS/PCS band. New antenna structure has been approved to be more convenient matching in the mobile phone terminal and increase gains and expansion bandwidth through the simulation and real measurement. According to measurement, it's shown 1.57dB higher average gain than conventional IFA.

  • Analytical criteria for the onset of fuel fragmentation and Burst Fission Gas Release in fuel rods with ballooned claddings are formulated. On that basis, the GRSW-A model integrated with a fuel behaviour code is updated. After modification, the updated code is successfully applied to simulation of the Halden LOCA test IFA-650.12. Specifically, the calculation with Burst Fission Gas Release during the test resulted in prediction of cladding failure, whereas it could not be predicted at the test planning, before new models were implemented. A good agreement of the current model with experimental data for transient Fission Gas Release in the tests IFA-650.12 and IFA-650.14 is shown, as well.

  • Outcomes of the project "Comprehensive Verification of the FALCON Code for Calculation of Nuclear Fuel Temperature" relating to calculation of fuel temperature during relatively fast thermal transients are presented. Good prediction capabilities of the FALCON MOD01 code coupled with the GRSW-A code are shown as applied to the data of the TF3 and TF5 tests from the Transient Temperature Experiment IFA-507. The IFA-507 related dataset of the OECD/NEA International Fuel Performance Experiments (IFPE) Database is extended by the reconstructed dynamics of the axial power distribution in the rods during the transient phase of the experiment. Based on the code calculation, the time constant of the thermal fuel response to a power transient is estimated.

  • A total of 420 chicken sera from various regions were tested for the presence of antibodies to avian rotavirus using indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA). In broiler farms, rotavirus antibodies were detected from 20 farms among 30 farms tested and the positive rates were above 50% in 9 farms. In parent stock farms, rotavirus antibodies were detected from 5 farms among 14 farms tested. From sera collected in 7 layer farms rotavirus antibodies were not detected.
