This paper presents a 900 MHz zero-IF RF transceiver for IEEE 802.15.4g Smart Utility Networks OFDM systems. The proposed RF transceiver comprises an RF front end, a Tx baseband analog circuit, an Rx baseband analog circuit, and a ${\Delta}{\Sigma}$ fractional-N frequency synthesizer. In the RF front end, re-use of a matching network reduces the chip size of the RF transceiver. Since a T/Rx switch is implemented only at the input of the low noise amplifier, the driver amplifier can deliver its output power to an antenna without any signal loss; thus, leading to a low dc power consumption. The proposed current-driven passive mixer in Rx and voltage-mode passive mixer in Tx can mitigate the IQ crosstalk problem, while maintaining 50% duty-cycle in local oscillator clocks. The overall Rx-baseband circuits can provide a voltage gain of 70 dB with a 1 dB gain control step. The proposed RF transceiver is implemented in a $0.18{\mu}$ CMOS technology and consumes 37 mA in Tx mode and 38 mA in Rx mode from a 1.8 V supply voltage. The fabricated chip shows a Tx average power of -2 dBm, a sensitivity level of -103 dBm at 100 Kbps with PER < 1%, an Rx input $P_{1dB}$ of -11 dBm, and an Rx input IP3 of -2.3 dBm.

In this paper, a 1.485 Gbps video signal transmission system using the carrier frequency of 240 GHz band was designed and simulated. The sub-harmonic mixer based on Schottky barrier diode was simulated in the transmitter and receiver. Both of heterodyne and direct detection receivers were simulated for each performance analysis. The ASK modulation was used in the transmitter and the envelop detection method was used in the receiver. The transmitter simulation results showed that the RF output power was -11.4 dBm($73{\mu}W$), when the IF input power was -3 dBm(0.5 mW) at the LO power of 7 dBm(5 mW) in sub-harmonic mixer, which corresponds to SSB(Single Side Band) conversion loss of 8.4 dB. This value is similar to the conversion loss of 8.0 dB(SSB) of VDI's commercial model WR3.4SHM(220~325 GHz) at 240 GHz. The combined transmitter and receiver simulation results showed that the recovered signal waveforms were in good agreement to the transmitted 1.485 Gbps NRZ signal.

In this paper, we suggests a Ka-band LNB considering next-generation UHD satellite TVRO. Since Ka-band has grater attenuation than Ku-band in atmosphere, we designed the low-noise down-converter to improve receiving sensitivity and to extend a dynamic range of receiver. It aims to compensate a quality of ultra high definition transmission signal for rainfall. The low-noise block diagram consists of a three-staged amplifier (LNA), band-pass filter for deleting image (BPF), mixer and IF when considering nonlinear characteristics in the receiver RF front end module. Also, we showed a LNB through optimization processes affecting dynamic range directly in receiver FEM. Asa resuly of experiment, the gain of low-noise down-converter show between 58.5dB and 60.7dB, the noise figure has a high characteristic as 1.38dB. Finally, the phase noise of local oscillator is -63.10dBc at 100MHz offset frequency.

In this paper, the high isolation and wideband 94 GHz MIMIC(Millimeter-wave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) single balanced cascode mixer was designed and fabricated. Also, we designed and fabricated a 3 dB tandem coupler which has a high isolation and wideband characteristic. The single balanced resistive mixer which does not require an external IF balun was designed using the 0.1 ${\mu}m$ InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs metamorphic HEMT(High Electron Mobility Transistor). The DC characteristics of MHEMT's are 665 mA/mm of drain current density, 691 mS/mm of maximum transconductance. The current gain cut-off frequency($f_T$) is 189 GHz and the maximum oscillation frequency($f_{max}$) is 334 GHz. A 94 GHz single balanced cascode mixer was fabricated using our 0.1 ${\mu}m$ MHEMT MIMIC process. From the measurements, the fabricated couplers showed wideband characteristics. The conversion loss of single balanced cascode mixer was 9.8 dB at an LO power of 10.9 dBm. The LO to RF isolation of single balanced cascode mixer was 29.5 dB at 94 GHz. We obtained in this study a higher LO-RF isolation compared to some other single balanced mixers.

A single RF transceiver evaluation board have been developed for the purpose of application to the 900MHz band transceiver contained RF-IC chip And environment test was evaluated. The RF-IC chipset includes LNA(Low Noise Amplifier), down-conversion mixer, AGC(Automatic Gain Controller), switched capacitor filter and down sampling mixer. The RF evaluation board for the testing of chipset contained various external matching circuits, filters such as RF/IF SAW(Surface Acoustic Wave) filter and duplexer and power supply circuits. With the range of 2.7~3.3V the operated chip revealed moderate power consumption of 42mA. The chip was well operated at the receiving frequency of 925~960MHz. Measurement result is similar to general RF receiving specification of the 900MHz digital mobile phone.

In this paper, we designed self-frequency synchronizing circuit using image rejection mixer(IRM) and single-sideband(SSB) up-converter which can effectively eliminate the image frequencies occurred in multi-channel super-heterodyne receivers and help us to match inter-channel phase. Also the self-frequency synchronizing circuit simplifies system because there need no extra devices for making intermediate frequency(IF) by creating the local signal within several nanoseconds by means of generating the same frequency of IF signal and modulating radio frequency(RF) signal. We adopt the limiting amplifier for the purpose of protecting the circuit from spurious signals which come from the front end side having wide instantaneous bandwidth characteristics and constantly injecting same level into the input local signal of IRM. The IRM we fabricated has image rejection ratio of 27dB, which is good over 7dB for foreign company's. Also, the SSB up-converter we fabricated has 1dB compression point of 18dBm, which is good over 16dB for foreign company's. And the size is compact about one-forth.

In this paper, we have developed a 2-port resistive frequency mixer for the retrodirective active array. The circuit topology is consisted of 2-port to avoid the complexity of LO and RF signal combination, using a pseudomorphic HEMT device. The operating frequencies are 4.0 GHz, 2.01 GHz, and 1.99 GHz for LO, RF, and IF, respectively. Conversion loss is measured to be -1㏈ and 1-㏈ compression point -15 ㏈m at the LO power of -10 ㏈m.

One of the most important design parameters in a microwave radio transmitting system is to reduce spurious response from the output spectrum of the transmitting system. A Local oscillator (LO) is seldom totally pure and at the least contain some LO harmonic signals. A LO or any oscillator is a transmitter if provided with a suitable radiator, conduction, or leakage path. Where mixer is employed in the output of the LO mixer generated spurs can be increased by RF amplifier. To reduce LO leakage, notch filter or band pass filter has been conventionally used. In this paper, the leakage reduction(LR) signal, which has the same magnitude and the opposite phase with respect to LO leakage signal, is added to the output of mixer of the wireless LAN system. The LO leakage is reduced by 30 dB more than the conventional methods do. The proposed method is potentially suitable for low-cost, reliable, and simple application of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs)

This study treats the analysis of the performance and the design of plume abatement wet/dry cooling tower with dry type heat exchanger using a numerical method. A two-dimensional analysis is performed using the finite volume method for mechanical draft counterflow and crossflow tower. For a coupling problem between water and air system, a turbulent two phase flow is considered. Effectiveness-NTU method is used for modeling of the dry type heat exchanger. The parameter change simulations of the outer wall shape, the relative flowrate of air, and attachment of an air mixer are performed to examine the effect on plume abatement. It is found that if the relative air flowrate ratio and the adequate air mixer type are chosen well in addition to the ratio of water to air flowrate, the loss of the cooling capacity and the additional cost are reduced and the plume is abated.
Recently it has become a common belief that ascorbic acid comes to break up in the process of making its color after peeling it. In this study the writer has attempted to observe whethier ascorbc acid really breaks up or not, what percentage of salt is needed in water to keep ascorbic acid in the best condition. Ascorbic acid was quantified by the spectrophotometric method. The results were obtained as follows; It seems that ascorbic acid does not break up considerably in mixing by the imxer for two minutes and if the mixing lasts longer ascorbic acid breaks up by heat and presumably by enzyme and oxidation. Generally at our home the breaking of ascorbic acid usually does not appear so much as only two minutes, mixing gives us the desirable result.
