The Reliability and Validity of Korean Version of the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale(K-IEPS) (한국어판 전문직 간 교육에 대한 인식 측정도구의 신뢰도와 타당도 검증)

  • This research aims to adapt and evaluate the validity and reliability of the Korean version of the Interdisciplinary Education Perception Scale (K-IEPS). The original IEPS was translated into Korean according to the World Health Organization's guidelines. A total of 302 questionnaires were collected from healthcare professional students at 4 universities in South Korea. The validity and reliability of the scale were measured using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), Cronbach's alpha, and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). As a result of the factor analysis, a ten-item scale with two factors (Competency & Autonomy and Perception of Actual Cooperation) was achieved. Additionally, the Cronbach's alpha coefficient was found to be .87, and test-retest reliability was .83. Our study results show that the Korean version of the IEPS is a valid and reliable instrument. Therefore, the K-IEPS can be used in measuring interdisciplinary perceptions of healthcare professional students between different occupational groups.

Assessment of Riverine Vegetation based on Hydrological Regime (수문학적 조건을 고려한 하천환경 연구)

  • Since Korea lunched the 4 Major River Restoration Project, the hydrological regime which is one of the major determinants for riverine condition have actually changed. It also important to connect hydrological characteristics and vegetation. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of hydrological regime on riverine vegetations and its successions. Iunundated exceedance probability concept are suggested to estimate rehabilitated and succession on the Binae island in the Han River. The result shows that the P=0.08 or lower IEPs should have the disturbance for vegetations, or should be changed to a hydrophilic ones. Therefore, agency which is mainly responsible for river and flow may have to be changed and considered flow regulation standard to conserve riverine zone.

Trend of Occupational Injuries/Diseases in Pakistan: Index Value Analysis of Injured Employed Persons from 2001-02 to 2012-13

  • Background: The present study aimed to analyze the index value trends of injured employed persons (IEPs) covered in Pakistan Labour Force Surveys from 2001-02 to 2012-13. Methods: The index value method based on reference years and reference groups was used to analyze the IEP trends in terms of different criteria such as gender, area, employment status, industry types, occupational groups, types of injury, injured body parts, and treatment received. The Pearson correlation coefficient analysis was also performed to investigate the inter-relationship of different occupational variables. Results: The values of IEP increased at the end of the studied year in industry divisions such as agriculture, forestry, hunting, and fishing, followed by in manufacturing and construction industry divisions. People associated with major occupations (such as skilled agricultural and fishery workers) and elementary (unskilled) occupations were found to be at an increasing risk of occupational injuries/diseases with an increasing IEP trend. Types of occupational injuries such as sprain or strain, superficial injury, and dislocation increased during the studied years. Major injured parts of body such as upper limb and lower limb found with increasing trend. Types of treatment received, including hospitalization and no treatment, were found to decrease. Increased IEP can be justified due to inadequate health care facilities, especially in rural areas by increased IEP in terms of gender, areas, received treatment, occupational groups and employment status as results found after Pearson correlation coefficient analysis. Conclusion: The increasing trend in the IEP% of the total employed persons due to agrarian activities shows that there is a need to improve health care setups in rural areas of Pakistan.

  • The AERMET, the AERMOD meteorological preprocessing program, mainly used for environmental impact assessment and Integrated Environmental Permit System (IEPS) in Korea, has not considered the land covers characterasitics, and used only the past meteorological data format CD-144. In this study, two results of AERMET application considering CD-144 format and ISHD format, being used internationally, were compared. Also, the atmospheric dispersion characteristics were analyzed with consideration of land cover. In the case of considered the CD-144 format, the actual wind speed was not taken into account in the weak wind (0.6~0.9m/s) and other wind speed due to the unit conversion problem. The predicted concentration considering land cover data was up to 387% larger depending on the topographic and emission conditions than without consideration of land cover. In conclusion, when using meteorological preprocessing program in AERMOD modelling, AERMET, with ISHD format, land cover characterasitics in the area should be considered.

Effects of Surface Characterization of γAl2O3 Particles by Aging in the Sol Preparation (졸 합성시 숙성이 γAl2O3 입자의 표면특성에 미치는 영향)

  • The surface characteristics of calcined ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ particles as well as ${\gamma}-AlO$(OH) sol particles were controlled by aging in the boehmite sol preparation. As a result of the study, the IEPs of ${\gamma}-AlO$(OH) particles were decreased from pH 9.25 to pH 8.70 and those of the calcined ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ particles were decreased from pH 9.90 to pH 8.86 by the increase of the aging times. As a result of the acidic and basic characterization of the calcined ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ particles by the aging, the amount of acid sites was decreased from 0.1367 mmol/g to 0.0783 mmol/g by the increase of the aging times and Hammett acidity, $H_o$ was showed the acidic strength of 4.8 or above. On the other hand, the amount of basic sites was decreased from 0.4399 mmol/g to 0.3074 mmol/g by the increase of the aging times. Based on these results, we proposed the fact that the aging step in the sol-gel process was an important step to control the surface characterization of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ particles including acidity and basicity.
