  • IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks (IP-WSNs) are gaining importance for their broad range of applications in health care, home automation, environmental monitoring, industrial control, vehicle telematics, and agricultural monitoring. In all these applications, a fundamental issue is the mobility in the sensor network, particularly with regards to energy efficiency. Because of the energy inefficiency of network-based mobility management protocols, they can be supported via IP-WSNs. In this paper, we propose a network-based mobility-supported IP-WSN protocol called mSFP, or the mSFP: "Multicasting-supported Inter-Domain Mobility Management Scheme in Sensor-based Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks". Based on [8,20], we present its network architecture and evaluate its performance by considering the signaling and mobility cost. Our analysis shows that the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost, total cost, and mobility cost. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 7% and the total cost by 3%. With respect to the number of hops, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 6.9%, the total cost by 2.5%, and the mobility cost by 1.5%. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the mobility cost by 1.6%.

  • A wireless sensor network (WSN) is designed and implemented for a freeze dryer. Freeze-drying technology is widely used in the fields of pharmacy and biotechnology as well as the food and agriculture industries. Taking into account the demand for high-resolution pressure and temperature measurements in a freeze dryer, the proposed WSN has a significant advantage of creating a monitoring environment in a freeze dryer. The proposed WSN uses a ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 network with an altimeter module that contains a high-resolution pressure and temperature sensor with a serial digital data interface. The ZigBee network is suitable for low-energy and low-data-rate applications in the field of wireless communication. The altimeter module is capable of sensing pressure in the range of 7.5-975 Torr (10-1300 mbar) and temperature in the range of $-40^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$ with a DC power consumption of $3{\mu}W$. The implemented WSN is installed in a commercial laboratory freeze dryer in order to demonstrate its functionality and efficiency. A comparison with the temperature profile measured by a thermocouple installed in the freeze dryer reveals that the resolution of the temperature profile measured by WSN is superior to that measured by the thermocouple.

  • Spectrum sensing is an elementary function in cognitive radio designed to monitor the existence of a primary user (PU). To achieve a high rate of detection, most techniques rely on knowledge of prior spectrum patterns, with a trade-off between high computational complexity and long sensing time. On the other hand, blind techniques ignore pattern matching processes to reduce processing time, but their accuracy degrades greatly at low signal-to-noise ratios. To achieve both a high rate of detection and short sensing time, we propose fast spectrum sensing with coordinate system (FSC) - a novel technique that decomposes a spectrum with high complexity into a new coordinate system of salient features and that uses these features in its PU detection process. Not only is the space of a buffer that is used to store information about a PU reduced, but also the sensing process is fast. The performance of FSC is evaluated according to its accuracy and sensing time against six other well-known conventional techniques through a wireless microphone signal based on the IEEE 802.22 standard. FSC gives the best performance overall.

  • With increasing the using of wireless technologies in essential fields such as the medical application, this paper proposes different scenarios for the transmission of images over wireless networks. The paper uses the IEEE ZigBee 802.15.4 for applying the proposed schemes. It is a Wireless Personal Area Network (WPAN). This paper presents a novel chaotic interleaving scheme against error bursts. Also, the paper studies the proposed interleaver with the convolutional code with different constraint lengths (K). A comparison study between the standard scheme and proposed schemes for image transmission over a correlated fading channel is presented. The simulation results show the superiority of the proposed chaotic interleaving scheme over the traditional schemes. Also, the chaotic interleaver packet-by-packet basis gives a high quality image with (K=3) and reduces the need for the complex encoder with K=7.

  • In this paper, we propose a frequency synchronization algorithm using characteristic of CAZAC sequence for HDR-WPAN and analyze the performance by signal constellation and EVM(error vector magnitude). The proposed frequency offset technique estimated each sample phase error of two sequences among 12 CAZAC sequences which have excellent autocorrelated characteristic. Estimated phase error is multiplied to each sample of next sequence for compensating the frequency offset. The remaining frequency offset after compensating it with two sequences has maximum 0.002 offsest ranges at each sample. The computer simulation proved that the permission of EVM value had satisfied in the case of DQPSK at 20[dB].

  • A smart phone and the number of wireless terminals are mobile-to the nature of the AP mobility are many call transfer between wireless terminals and AP (Access Point). Each wireless terminal that is the call processing process for each is relatively large to cause the wireless traffic, and a factor that inhibits the efficient use of the radio band on the AP. In this paper, we use the power intensity threshold and threshold timer of the AP received by the mobile station to reduce the amount of switching traffic between the AP's cause and traffic generation factors between the wireless device and the AP that can effectively utilize the radio traffic from the AP the measures proposed. The proposed method and the conventional method is improved by simulation to handle the amount of radio traffic from the AP it was confirmed that it is possible to effectively utilize the whole of the radio band.

  • The three-dimensional triangulation algorithm that the beacon nodes can be allocated to dynamically in not the experimental region but the practical region is suggested, and the performance of the localization system adapting the suggested algorithm is analyzed. The suggested algorithm adapts the computation method of the three dimensional point that the surfaces of three spheres overlapped, while the traditional triangulation algorithm adapts the computation method of the two dimensional point that three circles are overlapped in order to compute the distance between beacon nodes and mobile node that means a radius. In addition to this, to analyze the performance of the localization system adapting the suggested algorithm, first of all, the allocation layout of beacon nodes is made, and the allocation layout is modeled by selection of ten random distance values between mobile node and beacon nodes for computer simulation of the practical model. Next, the two dimensional coordinator of mobile node that is calculated by the suggested algorithm and the traditional triangulation algorithm is compared with each other. The localization measuring performance about three dimensional coordinator(z axis) of the suggested algorithm is also obtained by comparing with that of the practical model.

  • In this paper, the compensation algorithm for localization using the concept of equivalent distance rate(AEDR) in order to compensate ranging error in the SDS-TWR(Symmetric Double-Sided Two-Way Ranging) is proposed and the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by the localization experiments. The ranging error of the SDS-TWR in the distance between mobile node and beacon node is measured to average 1m~8m by ranging experiments. But it is confirmed that the performance of the localization by the AEDR is better than that of the SDS-TWR 4 times in university auditorium and corridor, and the localization error of above 3~10m is reduced to average 2m and that of below 3m is reduced to average 1m respectively. It is concluded that the AEDR is superior to the NLOS(Non Line Of Sight) than LOS(Line Of Sight) in performance of ranging compensation for localization, and the AEDR is more helpful to localization systems practically considering the environment of sensor networks is under NLOS.

  • In this paper, the hybrid compensation algorithm($A_{HB}$) for localization using the Compensation Algorithm distance($CA_d$) and the Algorithm of Equivalent Distance Rate(AEDR) in SDS-TWR(Symmetric Double-Sided Two-Way Ranging) is suggested and the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by practical experimentations. From experimentations, it is confirmed that the errors are reduced in 28 coordinates of total 32 coordinates in the experimental region and the errors are reduced about above 70% in the assigned 3 type error level ranges by $A_{HB}$. Also, it is analyzed that the average localization error is reduced from 2.67m to 1.19m as 55.4% in total 32 coordinates by $A_{HB}$ and the error compensation capability of $A_{HB}$ is very excellent as above 90%. From above results, we have seen that the error reduction ratio and error compensation capability of $A_{HB}$ is more excellent than each $CA_d$ or AEDR.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. The WiMedia D-MAC fundamentally removes the problems of the centralized MAC revealed at IEEE 802.15.3 MAC, by adopting a distributed architecture. However, there is no completely distributed method for allocating fair data rates to all traffic streams by considering each stream's QoS parameter. In this paper, a novel fair distributed QoS admission control method is proposed. The proposed method is a fair, adaptive QoS provisioning method, by allocating time slots to devices according to the current traffic load condition, through executing only a proposed single satisfaction of QoS (SoQ) algorithm at each device.
