  • 국내외적으로 전력산업분야의 가장 큰 화두중 하나는 변전소 단위의 디지털화이며 특히 국외에서는 국제표준 변전자동화 시스템 연구와 제품개발 등에 인력을 집중 투자하고 있다. 국제적으로 지금까지 축적된 변전소 관련 제반 기술력 및 경험 둥을 바탕으로 전 세계적으로 단일화시키고 표준화된 변전소 자동화 규격인 IEC 61850 (Communication networks and systems in substations) 규격이 제정되었으며 따라서 향후 전력 관련 기업은 시스템 엔지니어링 기술, 전력기기 공급능력, 유지/보수/운영기술 등을 종합적으로 보유하고 자산 및 위험관리를 종합적으로 제공할 수 있어야만 세계시장에서 생존할 수 있다. 또한 전력기기를 수출하는 국내업체는 향후 IEC(International Electrotechnical Commission) 등 국제표준에 따른 전력설비를 개발하지 않으면 수출경쟁력을 잃게 될 것이다. 이러한 세계화 추세에 발맞추어 한국전력공사와 관련 업체들은 공동으로 2005년 10월부터 6년의 기간으로 "디지털 기술기반의 변전소 자동화 시스템 개발" 사업을 진행 중에 있으며 특히 한국전력공사는 변전자동화 시스템의 성능검증 및 실증시험 절차를 구축하기 위한 과제를 수행 중이다.

  • This paper presents apparatus and its method for event record of digital substation based on SCL files, which can save communication messages of a variety of IEC61850 international standard applied substation events such as fault. In particular, the device has ability to analyze all of the events and faults, and performs its functions based on SCL files.

  • 변전소 자동화 시스템에 관한 IEC 61850 표준은 급속한 통신 기술의 변화를 수용하기 위해 실제적인 통신 서비스와 응용 영역을 분리하여 정의하였다. 이는 미래 지향적인 표준을 지향하는 것으로, 표준은 정보 모델과 추상적인 서비스 모델을 정의하고 이를 실제 통신 프로토콜에 사상(mapping)하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이러한 사상의 방법을 SCSM(Specific Communication Service Mapping)이라 명시하고 있다. 본 논문은 표준에서 제시하는 SCSM 과 사상되는 통신 프로토콜인 MMS(Manufacturing Message Specification), TCP/IP, Ethernet을 설명한다.

Improvement of High-Availability Seamless Redundancy (HSR) Traffic Performance for Smart Grid Communications

  • High-availability seamless redundancy (HSR) is a redundancy protocol for Ethernet networks that provides two frame copies for each frame sent. Each copy will pass through separate physical paths, pursuing zero fault recovery time. This means that even in the case of a node or a link failure, there is no stoppage of network operations whatsoever. HSR is a potential candidate for the communications of a smart grid, but its main drawback is the unnecessary traffic created due to the duplicated copies of each sent frame, which are generated and circulated inside the network. This downside will degrade network performance and might cause network congestion or even stoppage. In this paper, we present two approaches to solve the above-mentioned problem. The first approach is called quick removing (QR), and is suited to ring or connected ring topologies. The idea is to remove the duplicated frame copies from the network when all the nodes have received one copy of the sent frame and begin to receive the second copy. Therefore, the forwarding of those frame copies until they reach the source node, as occurs in standard HSR, is not needed in QR. Our example shows a traffic reduction of 37.5%compared to the standard HSR protocol. The second approach is called the virtual ring (VRing), which divides any closed-loop HSR network into several VRings. Each VRing will circulate the traffic of a corresponding group of nodes within it. Therefore, the traffic in that group will not affect any of the other network links or nodes, which results in an enhancement of traffic performance. For our sample network, the VRing approach shows a network traffic reduction in the range of 67.7 to 48.4%in a healthy network case and 89.7 to 44.8%in a faulty network case, compared to standard HSR.

A Study on Simulation Analysis for the Transmission Delay on the Process bus network in IEC 61850 Digital Substation (디지털변전소 통합 IED 용 Process Bus 네트워크 통신지연 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • Digitalization of the substation in Korea has been in progress so far with focusing on Station Bus. However, its application to Process Bus has been delayed due to some technical issues. IEDs based on Process Bus use the data values of SV and GOOSE. As the size of communication data on Process Bus is comparatively bigger than that of Station Bus, it is very important for the evaluating the performance of Process Bus to analyze the transferring speed and quality of data from the first equipment, which is located on process level, to station level. According to the results of related studies, it is said that the most important factor for the design and operation of Process Bus network is the communication delay with consideration of the volume of packets. In the paper, the results of performance test for the network with and without application of VLAN on Process Bus system that uses integrated IEDs are presented. Additionally, the paper proposes the optimal method to analyze the communication delays of network systems through evaluating the maximum delay time, link process ratio and the amount of lost packets by using a simulation tool.
