Change of Psychological Characteristics after Joining the Army According to Internet Addiction Tendency in Young Male Army Recruits (군 병사들에서 인터넷 중독 경향에 따른 입대 후 심리특성 변화)

  • Objectives The aim of this study was to find out the psychological changes associated with internet addiction between before and after the military drill among the young male army recruits. Methods All 1091 participants were army recruits aged from 19 to 22 years who participated in the 5-week military drill. They were assessed with some self-reported questionnaires [Sociodemographic questionnaires, Young's Internet Addiction Scale (IAS), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS), the Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Rated Scale (ASRS)]. They were divided into two groups, One is the internet addiction tendency group and the other is non-addiction group according to the IAS score. And the severity of the internet addiction tendency, depression, anxiety and impulsiveness were evaluated by the IAS, the STAI, the BDI, the BIS, the ASRS before and after military drill. Results The result of the paired t-test shows that the IAS, the STAI, the BDI, the BIS, the ASRS scores decreased after military drill in both non-addiction group and internet addiction tendency group. The result of the repeated measures ANOVA shows that there is an interaction effect between the changes of ASRS-hyperactivity (F = 23.437, p < 0.001), ASRS-impulsiveness (F = 4.896, p = 0.027), BIS-total (F = 4.057, p = 0.044), BIS-motor impulsiveness (F = 13.609, p < 0.001) scores and groups. The result of the generalized estimating equation shows that internet addiction tendency is associated with ASRS-inattention (${\beta}=0.075$, p < 0.001), ASRS-hyperactivity (${\beta}=0.092$, p = 0.002), STAI-trait anxiety (${\beta}=0.046$, p < 0.001), BIS-motor impulsiveness (${\beta}=0.119$, p = 0.028). Conclusions The results show that psychopathologies such as internet addiction tendency, depression, anxiety, impulsiveness may improve after military drill regardless of the groups. Internet addiction tendency may be related to the ASRS-inattention, ASRS-hyperactivity, STAI-trait anxiety, motor-impulsiveness. So these findings may be considered in the treatment of internet addiction in terms of the impulsiveness control.

Design and Implementation of Interface System for Swarm USVs Simulation Based on Hybrid Mission Planning (하이브리드형 임무계획을 고려한 군집 무인수상정 시뮬레이션 시스템의 연동 인터페이스 설계 및 구현)

  • Defense fields widely operate unmanned systems to lower vulnerability and enhance combat effectiveness. In the navy, swarm unmanned surface vehicles(USVs) form a cluster within communication range, share situational awareness information among the USVs, and cooperate with them to conduct military missions. This paper proposes an interface system, i.e., Interface Adapter System(IAS), to achieve inter-USV and intra-USV interoperability. We focus on the mission planning subsystem(MPS) for interoperability, which is the core subsystem of the USV to decide courses of action such as automatic path generation and weapon assignments. The central role of the proposed system is to exchange interface data between MPSs and other subsystems in real-time. To this end, we analyzed the operational requirements of the MPS and identified interface messages. Then we developed the IAS using the distributed real-time middleware. As experiments, we conducted several integration tests at swarm USVs simulation environment and measured delay time and loss ratio of interface messages. We expect that the proposed IAS successfully provides bridge roles between the mission planning system and other subsystems.

  • 세계 에이즈 회의는 UNAIDS, IAS(국제에이즈협회)가 주관하는 행사로서 개최 초기에는 에이즈라는 질병 자체에 대한 새로운 별견을 공유하는 데 주력했지만, 점차 에이즈 자체에 대한 지식이 축적됨에 따라 사회, 공공 보건, 공동체 기반 사회, 지역별, 국가별로 전개된 특수한 경험을 공유하고 함께 이해하는 것에 중점을 두고 전개되고 있다. 단일한 질병을 주제로 한 국제 행사로는 최대 규모라는 점에서 에이즈가 전 인류에게 미치고 있는 심각한 영향을 확인할 수 있는 자리였다.

Early childhood Teachers' Beliefs and Practices Concerning Developmentally Appropriate Practices (발달적으로 적합한 유아교육 실제에 대한 어린이집과 유치원 교사의 신념과 실제 교수 활동)

  • The purposes of this study were (a) to ascertain early childhood teachers' beliefs and practices relative to the developmentally appropriate practices, and (b) to determine the relative differences of child care center teachers' beliefs and practices and kindergarten teachers' beliefs and practices. Although interest in obtaining information regarding teachers' beliefs and practices for developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education is not new, it has commanded considerable attention recently, reflecting concern about growing fragmentation and discontinuity between the early childhood education and care services. A questionnaire measure of 4-and 5-year-old classroom teachers' beliefs and practices based on the guidelines for developmentally appropriate practices of the National Association for the education of Young children, which was consisted of the Teachers' Beliefs Scale(TBS) and the Instructional activities Scale(IAS), was administered to 215 child care center teachers and 215 kindergarten teachers. Positive correlations were found not only between teachers' beliefs and practices but also between developmentally appropriate belief and activities, and between developmentally inappropriate beliefs and activities. There was significant difference between child center and kindergarten teacher groups on the mean scores of each subscale, revealing that kindergarten group had a greater mean score on both TBS and IAS than child care center group. The results of this study implies that there is a great deal of teaching in either child care centers or kindergartens which is not congruent with developmentally appropriate practice. Also, the information obtained with the questionnaire has supported the contention that early childhood education and care services are need to be amalgamated based on the developmentally appropriate practices.

  • In this study, cow tibial from cow bone, a kind of beef waste, sintered at $800\sim850^{\circ}C$ for three hours was used to measure its removal capacity for metal ions such as Pb, Cd and Zn in a single and a multi-component equilibrium systems. The sorption equilibrium data were analyzed as measured by the effect of media on lead, cadmium and zinc sorption. This analysis shows that the sorption of metal ions for multi-component systems applying IAST can be predicted more reasonably by the Freundlich and the Sips theory than the Langmuir.

  • This research aims to contribute to the discipline of knowledge management (KM) in Higher Education (HE), and is conducted using the case of the study programme (SP) for Integrated Academic Studies (IAS) of Technics and Informatics (TI). A deduction-induction methodology is applied, using a Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) approach to design a suitable KM concept for making improvements to the SP IAS TI on the standardisation platform. Based on the application of the International Classification of Standards (ICS), the research analyses the correlations and competences acquired during the courses within the accredited TI study programme of two-course studies. On the basis of the results of a comparative analysis of the developmental learning process and educational goals, it is shown that knowledge management in correlation with standardisation leads to the improvement of study programmes in the upcoming accreditation cycle on the standardisation platform. Frequent innovations within standardised thematic fields (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) indicate the need for appropriate changes to the SP. The contribution to KM is through an original analysis of annual samples of more than 90,000 standardised sources in correlation with the TI study programme. Expert System (ES) modelling and the original results enable an analogous contribution to the future KM of other SPs.

  • A key component of aviation safety is to eliminate the errors in commercial aircraft air data systems to ensure stable aviation operation. Although the technical aspects such as the maintenance and inspection play a pertinent role, human errors are expected to have a similar or even larger influence on the aviation safety. Aviation maintenance and inspection tasks are often performed by a complex organization, in which individuals perform a variety of tasks in an environment involving time pressure, sparse feedback, and complex conditions. These situational characteristics, combined with the general tendency of human error, may lead to various types of errors, which may have critical consequences such as accidents and loss of life. For instance, if an amber message "IAS DISAGREE" is displayed on the primary flight display while the aircraft is rolling on the runway to takeoff, the crew immediately performs a rejected takeoff operation and troubleshoots the air data system. This paper proposes alternative approaches to address the occurrence of defects due to the human factors involved in the practical processes of the air data system of commercial aircraft.

An Integrated Accurate-Secure Heart Disease Prediction (IAS) Model using Cryptographic and Machine Learning Methods

  • Heart disease is becoming the top reason of death all around the world. Diagnosing cardiac illness is a difficult endeavor that necessitates both expertise and extensive knowledge. Machine learning (ML) is becoming gradually more important in the medical field. Most of the works have concentrated on the prediction of cardiac disease, however the precision of the results is minimal, and data integrity is uncertain. To solve these difficulties, this research creates an Integrated Accurate-Secure Heart Disease Prediction (IAS) Model based on Deep Convolutional Neural Networks. Heart-related medical data is collected and pre-processed. Secondly, feature extraction is processed with two factors, from signals and acquired data, which are further trained for classification. The Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) is used to categorize received sensor data as normal or abnormal. Furthermore, the results are safeguarded by implementing an integrity validation mechanism based on the hash algorithm. The system's performance is evaluated by comparing the proposed to existing models. The results explain that the proposed model-based cardiac disease diagnosis model surpasses previous techniques. The proposed method demonstrates that it attains accuracy of 98.5 % for the maximum amount of records, which is higher than available classifiers.

  • 지난 8월 멕시코시티에서는 제 17차 국제에이즈회의가 개최되었다. 라틴아메리카 지역에서 최초로 열린 이번 행사에는 전 세계에서 약 25,000여 명의 에이즈 관련 학자, 단체, 기업, 감염인들이 참가하여 역대 최다를 기록을 수립했다. 본 행사는 멕시코 정부, 국제에이즈협회(IAS), UNAIDS, WHO와 같은 국제 기구 및 전 세계 감염인 연대, 지역사회 관계자, 종교관계자들이 합동으로 주관하여 개최한 행사로 에이즈와 관련한 생의학, 사회과학, 보건학, 인권 등의 각 분야별로 열띤 학술발표와 토론 경험의 교류가 이루어졌다.
