The Effect of Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy on Acoustic Factors (구개편도 및 아데노이드 절제술이 음향학적 자질에 미치는 영향)

  • It has been reported that Tonsillectomy & Adenoidectomy(T & A) resulted in the change of voice by structural changes directly to the vocal track. We studied the effect of T & A on the voice of patients comparing the pre-operative to the post-operative voice. It was performed using a Computerized Speech Lab(CSL50) which is currently used as a method for voice analysis. Forty-five patients who had T&A, aging from 3 to 42 years old, took part in studies and wert evaluated for voice changes and the degree of formant changes of four basic vowels, /a/, /i/, /o/, and /u/. They were evaluated pre-operatively and post-operatively one month later using MDVP, CSL program of CSL50. The results obtained were as follows ; In using MDVP, there were some differences between pre-operative and post-operative shimmer measures within the normal range but other acoustic measures(Fo, jitter, NHR) show no significant differences(p>0.05). F3 of /a/ and /o/ were significantly decreased(p<0.05) and F2, F3 of /i/ were increased(p>0.05) in patients who only had Tonsillectomy in doing CSL spectrogram. For the patients who had T & A, Fl and F3 of /a/, F3 of /i/, Fl, F2 and F3 of /o/ were decreased with significant increase in F1 and F2 of /i/(p<0.05).

The Articulation Characteristics of the Profound Hearing-Impaired Children with Reference to Formant Bandwidth (심도 청각장애 아동의 조음 특성: 포먼트 대역폭을 중심으로)

  • This study measured formant bandwidths of profound hearing impaired children and examined the characteristics of their articulation. For this study, 10 cochlear implanted children(CI), 10 hearing aid children(HA) and 10 normal hearing children(NH) were asked to read 7 Korean vowels(/ɑ, ʌ, o, u, ɯ, i, ɛ/). The subjects' readings were recorded by NasalView and analyzed by Praat. The analysis of the formant bandwidths explains the degree of vocal fold opening and the characteristics of radiation. Through the analysis of formant bandwidth, we can see that the hearing-impaired maintain vocal fold tension when they speak high vowels and characteristics of radiation. Narrower B1 means better maintain vocal fold tension, wider B2 means more front and wider B3 means the rounder lips. CI's B1 was widest and NH's was narrowest. And females' B1 was wider than males'. Among vowels, B1 of /a/ was widest, and B1 of /i/ was narrowest. In the case of B2, HA and NH's B2 was wider than CI's. Females' B2 was wider than males'. And B2 of /i/ was widest, and B2 of /ʌ/ was narrowest. In the case of B3, NH's was widest, and CI's was narrowest. Males' was wider than females'. Among vowels, B3 of /o/ was widest, and B3 of /ɛ/ was narrowest. As a result, first, through the analysis of B1, we can find that NH and males could better maintain vocal fold tension than the hearing-impaired or females, and all children articulate /i/ with vocal fold tension than other vowels. Second, through the analysis of B2, NH and HA articulate vowels with the weaker rounded than CI does. And females articulate vowels with the weaker rounded than males do. Third, through the analysis of B3, NH articulate vowels with the rounder than HA or CI do, and males articulate vowels with the rounder than females do. Through the results, we can expect that the analysis of formant bandwidth will be applied to the therapy of articulation for the hearing-impaired with hearing aids or cochlear implant.

  • In order to investigate the reason of changes in the physical properties of glasses near the region for which R(Ga/Na)=1, spectroscopic studies using FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy have been carried out on Na2O.2SiO2 glass with addition of Ga2O3 from 0 to 35 mole %, i.e., from R=0 to 1.61. The main purpose of this work is to investigate the coordination number of Ga3+ in glass with variation of glass composition and to determine the existence of tricluster in the Ga-rich region for which R>1.0 in Na2O-Ga2O3-SiO2 system.

  • This research investigates the effect of SMEs' digital transformation (DX) efforts in O2O platforms on customer engagement. Among the three DX stages (i.e., digitization, digitalization, and DX), this study focuses on digitalization, a practically viable DX phase for SMEs using O2O platforms. This study categorizes the DX efforts of SMEs into three: information diversity, responsiveness to customers, and the degree of functional use. To analyze the impact of these efforts on customer engagement, we conduct the zero-inflated negative binomial regression using the dataset of Naver Smartplace, one of the representative O2O platforms in South Korea. The analysis result confirms that all three factors have positive impacts on customer engagement. Therefore, this study demonstrates that employing O2O platforms can be an effective strategy for SMEs lacking resources to achieve successful DX.

  • Mo/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by impregnation method in various conditions to identify the states of surface Mo species. TPR (Temperature-Programmed Reduction) and Raman spectroscopy were applied to analyze the surface Mo species. TPR analysis revealed that MoO3 was reduced to Mo through MoO2, the intermediate state and the increase of Mo loading enhanced the reducibility of Mo oxide till the formation of monolayer coverage. High temperature calcination induced oxygen defects in MoO3 giving their unstable states for easier reduction. Raman spectroscopy analysis showed that the increase of Mo loading induced the polymeric Mo oxide.

  • Bulk ZnO varistor based on Matsuoka, which varied $SiO_2$ addition has fabricated by standard ceramic process. The micro-electrode, which fabricated for investigation on degradation property of the Single Grain Boundary of ZnO varistor, has sticked by lithography semiconductor process. The values of AC degradation has measured with 150% operating voltage in varistor threshold with 120 minute in 60Hz. In here we observed V-I and V-C property in every 30minute. The operating voltage of Single Grain Boundary has shown in variable patterns in the characteristic of V-I Property. By increasing the $SiO_2$ contents, operating value has also increased and dominated on degradation proper. In EPMA analysis, we know that added $SiO_2$ was nearly distributed at the Grain Boundary. $SiO_2$ has gradually distributed in Grain Boundary condition during the process of crystal growth. It contributes to degradation depression and decision of operating voltage. We also demonstrated for using practical application and performance on distribution random loop based on V-I Properties in Single-Grain-Boundary.

Low-Frequency Electromagnetic Leakage Signal Analysis According to Fundamental Operations of Smartphones (스마트폰 기본 동작 모드에 따른 저주파 대역 누설 전자파 신호 특성 분석)

  • This paper presents the spectral analysis and radiation pattern of low-frequency electromagnetic(EM) leakage signals according to the fundamental operations of smartphones. The EM leakage signals generated by the activation of four I/O sensor modules such as a touch-screen, a camera, a microphone and a speaker are captured by the commercial near-field magnetic probe with 1cm spatial resolution. The analysis results show that the leakage of the EM wave occurs strongly around the activated I/O sensor modules, AP(Application Processor) and memory modules. Also, the distinguishable frequency characteristic is shown in each spectrum of EM leakage signals.

  • Possibilities of substitution was investigated in the Langadite({{{{ {La }_{3 } {Ga }_{ 5}{SiO }_{14 }}}}}) system.{{{{{TiO}_{2 }}}}} was substitutes for{{{{{SiO}_{2 }}}}} followed by the substitution of{{{{{Nd}_{2 }{O}_{3}}}}}fo{{{{{La}_{2 }{O}_{3}}}}}. An effort to replace GeO2, which is reported to have been substitution for{{{{{SiO}_{2 }}}}} in the Langasit e system, for{{{{{TiO}_{2 }}}}} i n{{{{{ Nd}_{ 3} {Ga }_{5 } {TiO }_{14 } }}}} was also undertaken. In another experiment,{{{{{ Y}_{ 2}{ O}_{3 } }}}} was substituted for{{{{{ La}_{2 } {O }_{ 3} }}}}. All of substitution possibilities were investigated through solid state reactions and analyzed with XRD. Further analysis was carried out with an SEM. Lastly, the dielectric constants of the sintered body were measured.

  • For the design of welded bogie frame, the concept of multidisciplinary engineering activities, i.e. static, fatigue and dynamic analysis, has been applied, in which the sharing of design parameters related with each analysis and the collaboration of the working parts in charge should be fulfilled. However, in spite of these necessities, the multi-disciplinary engineering activities couldn't be performed in practice due to tack of the automation of the required analysis. In this paper, an automation of fatigue durability analysis of welded bogie frame according to UIC-Code was proposed by using the Model Center, which enables to integrate the several tools for the fatigue durability analysis, i.e. I-DEAS, ANSYS and BFAP, and to perform iterative analysis works in relation to the geometrical change of transom support bracket. Besides, the wrapping programs to control I/O-data and interfaces of these tools were developed. The developed automation technique brings not only significant decreasing man-hour required in the durability analysis, but also providing a platform of the multidisciplinary engineering activities.

  • This paper presents an analysis on the induction heating of ring flange for wind farm. Ring flange is used for the connection of poles when building a column of wind power plant. Heat treatment of ring flange with the diameter of ${\O}1,000mm$ has been considered. For analysis on the induction heating, FEA is used. Firstly, electromagnetic filed analysis was performed to get the induction current distribution on the steel, After that, heat transfer analysis was performed using the magnetic filed analysis results. for more precise analysis, some measurement for permeability has been performed and the measurement data was used during the analysis. From the analysis, we get the temperature distribution on the ring flange.
