Theoretical considerations on a giant magneto-impedance (GMI) effect in amorphous ribbons (i.e., thin films) have been made in terms of the expressions of effective permeability and impedance derived in the frame of classical electrodynamics and ferromagnetism. The dependence of GMI effect on the external do magnetic field (H$\_$ext/) and the frequency of alternating current are simulated and discussed in the knowledge of energy conversion consisting of the current energy loss, the ferromagnetic energy consumption, and the magnetic energy storage in the film. The obtained results are summarized as follow: (a) As frequency f< 20 ㎒, the real part of effective permeability (${\mu}$′) changes slightly. The peak of the ${\mu}$′curve always locates at H$\_$ext/=H$\_$ani/ - the anisotropy field. However, the peak value of ${\mu}$′ tends to increase with increasing frequency in the frequency range of 11-20 ㎒. (b) In the frequency range, f= 21-23 ㎒, a negative peak additionally appears. Meanwhile, both the positive and negative peak values rapidly increase with increasing frequency and their peak positions shift towards a high H$\_$ext/. (c) The positive peak value of ${\mu}$′ starts to decrease at f= 29 ㎒ and its negative peak does so at about 35 ㎒. Then, both peaks keep such a tendency and their peak positions move to high H$\_$ext/, as increasing frequency. (d) The dependence of the imaginary part of effective permeability (${\mu}$") on the external dc magnetic field and the frequency of the alternating field indicates that there is only one peak involved in ${\mu}$" for the whole frequency range. (e) The impedance vs. magnetic field curves at various frequencies show that there is a critical value of frequency around f= 18-19 ㎒ where the transition between two frequency regimes occurs; the one (low frequency) in which ${\mu}$′ predominantly contributes to the GMI effect and the other (high frequency) in which ${\mu}$" determines the GMI effect.
Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of gliclazide were studied after an oral administration of gliclazide tablets in healthy volunteers. After an overnight fasting, gliclazide tablet was orally administered to 11 volunteers; Additional 10 volunteers were used as a control group (i.e., no gliclazide administration). Blood samples were collected, and the concentration determined for gliclazide and glucose up to 24 after the administration. Standard pharmacokinetic analysis was carried out for gliclazide. Pharmacodynamic activity of the drug was expressed by increase of glucose concentration ($\Delta$PG), by area under the increase of glucose concentration-time curve ($AUC_{$\Delta$PG}$) or by the difference in increase of glucose concentration ($D_{$\Delta$PG}$) at each time between groups with and without gliclazide administration. Pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that $C_{max}, T_{max}$, CL/F (apparent clearance), V/F (apparent volume of distribution) and half-life of gliclazide were $4.69\pm1.38 mg/L, 3.45\pm1.11 h, 1.26\pm0.35 L/h, 17.78\pm5.27 L, and 9.99\pm2.15 h$, respectively. When compared with the no drug administration group, gliclazide decreased significantly the $AUC_{$\Delta$PG}$ s at 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 h (p<0.05). The $\Delta$PGs were positively correlated with $AUC_{gliclazide}$ at 1 and 1.5 h (p<0.05), and the correlation coefficient was maximum at 1 h (r = 0.642) and gradually decreased at 4 h after the administration. The $AUC_{$\Delta$PG}$s were positively correlated with $AUC_{gliclazide}$ at 1, 2, 3 and 4 h (p<0.05), and the maximum correlation coefficient was obtained at 2 h (r=0.642) after the administration. The $D_{$\Delta$PG}$ reached the maximum at 1 h, remained constant from 1 h to 3 h, and decreased afterwards. Therefore, these observations indicated that maximum hypoglycemic effect of gliclazide was reached at approximately at 1.5 h after the administration and the effect decreased, probably because of the homeostasis mechanism, in health volunteers.
This experiment was made on the basis of the general observation that silk fabrics is flaccid in sun light. The purpose of this test is to examine efficiency between the processed thread and the unprocessed one after putting the later under the xenon-lit system, which produces continuous spectrum of bright white beam similar to sun light. (i) Color division of silk thread : white, yellow blue (ii) light division and irradiation time : sun lightlongrightarrow210 hrs, Xenonlongrightarrow50,100, 150 hrs. Under the above conditions each object was be tested with and extensometer, TENSILON Type III for the results of (a) the weight-expansibility curve of the silk thread (b) the relationship between cutting in tensity and maximum, weight (c) maximum expansion rate (d) the expansion energy of the tested silk thread (e) the beginning pull-stretch resistance rate of the tested silk thread (f) color difference after processing The results are illustrated in the appropriate tables and figures. Consequently the generalobservation that silk fabrics is flaccid is relevant only in terms of color. So for as Cutting-intensaty is concerned, it turned out to be less flaccid than in color. On the contrary when the untested silk thread was conpared with the xenon-irradiated ones, the latter proved itself to be more flaccid in cutting expansibility than the former. We have learned through this experiment that, after the all rounds of this test, the color tone and chroma of the colored materials remained without significant change, where as their color value changed to a large extent.
A new HPLC-method for separation and quantitative determination of ginsenosides in Panax ginseng, Panax quinquefolium and in pharmaceutical drug preparations is elaborated. A reversed-phase-system with ${\mu}Bondapak\;C_{18}$ column (3.9 mm $I.D.{\times}30\;cm$) using acetonitrile-water (30:70) 2 ml/min and acetonitrile-water (18:82) 4 ml/min is suitable for the base-line separation of $Rb_1,\;Rb_2,\;Rc,\;Rd,\;Rf,\;Rg_2,\;respectively\;Re,\;Rg_1$ in 30 minutes. The ginsenosides are directly detected at 203 nm (without derivatization) with the LC-55 or LC-75 spectrophotometer (Perkin-Elmer) at $100\%$ transmission. Detection limit is 300 ng at a signal-to-noise ratio of 10:1. The ginsenosides-peak identification is carried out with HPTLC (high performance thin layer chromatography), with MIR-IR (multiple internal reflection-IR-spectros-copy) and with FD-MS (field desorption mass spectrometry). The calibration curve of each ginsenoside has a correlation coefficient very near to 1. Relative standard deviation for quantitative determinations depends upon the amount of ginsenosides and is approximately 1\%$ for ginsenoside contents of 1\%$. This method is adaptable for routine analysis in quality control laboratories.
Background: High 2-[$^{18}F$] fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose (FDG) uptake on positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) is a prognostic factor for poor survival in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially in Stage I. We determined whether the high FDG uptake value of a primary tumor was associated with recurrence and death in patients with resected Stage I and Stage II NSCLC. Methods: We identified consecutive patients who underwent complete surgical resection for Stage I and II NSCLC between 2006 and 2009, who had preoperative PET-CT, and reviewed clinical records retrospectively. FDG uptake was measured as the maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) for body weight. Patients were divided into two groups based on SUVmax: (i) above or (ii) below the cut-off value (SUVmax=5.9) determined by a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results: Of 57 patients who were enrolled consecutively, 32 (56%) had Stage I NSCLC and 25 (44%) had Stage II. The 5-year recurrence-free survival (RFS) for patients with high (${\geq}5.9$) and low (<5.9) SUVmax were 31% and 57%, respectively (p=0.014). The 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 39% and 60%, respectively (p=0.029). In univariate analyses, SUVmax (p=0.014), T staging (p=0.025), and differentiation of tumor tissue (p=0.034) were significantly associated with RFS. But, multivariate analyses did not show that SUVmax was an independently significant factor for RFS (p=0.180). Conclusion: High FDG uptake on PET-CT is not an independent prognostic factor for poor outcomes (disease recurrence in patients with resected Stage I and II NSCLC).

Background: Lung cancer remains one of the most common cancers in the world, both in terms of new cases (about 13% of total per year) and deaths (nearly one cancer death in five), because of the high case fatality. Errors in lung cancer type or malignant growth determination lead to degraded treatment efficacy, because anticancer strategy depends on tumor morphology. Materials and Methods: We have made an attempt to evaluate effectiveness of machine learning algorithms in the task of lung cancer classification based on gene expression levels. We processed four publicly available data sets. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute data set contains 203 samples and the task was to classify four cancer types and sound tissue samples. With the University of Michigan data set of 96 samples, the task was to execute a binary classification of adenocarcinoma and non-neoplastic tissues. The University of Toronto data set contains 39 samples and the task was to detect recurrence, while with the Brigham and Women's Hospital data set of 181 samples it was to make a binary classification of malignant pleural mesothelioma and adenocarcinoma. We used the k-nearest neighbor algorithm (k=1, k=5, k=10), naive Bayes classifier with assumption of both a normal distribution of attributes and a distribution through histograms, support vector machine and C4.5 decision tree. Effectiveness of machine learning algorithms was evaluated with the Matthews correlation coefficient. Results: The support vector machine method showed best results among data sets from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. All algorithms with the exception of the C4.5 decision tree showed maximum potential effectiveness in the University of Michigan data set. However, the C4.5 decision tree showed best results for the University of Toronto data set. Conclusions: Machine learning algorithms can be used for lung cancer morphology classification and similar tasks based on gene expression level evaluation.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the degree of waterbody impairment according to the flow conditions and present to the appropriate water quality improvement alternatives using observed water quality and flow for Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) implementation at 39 unit watersheds the nakdong river basin. Observed water quality data for 7 years are divided into five cumulative flow frequency group and comparing the each observed water quality data and TMDL Target water quality (TWQ) the last evaluate the water quality is impaired group. We found that the cumulative flow frequency group-specific the average excess rate of V group was the highest (32.86%), followed by the IV group (26.04%), group III (23.36%), II group (22.67%), I group (20.70%), the degree of impaired waterbody tended to be inversely proportional to the flow rate. Resulted from cumulative flow frequency group of impaired water quality assessment, 13 unit watersheds are impaired from a group IV and group V affected by point sources. Therefore, improvement of sewage discharge and the initial composition of the riparian buffer zone are needed. Nakbon F, Namkang D and Namkang E within 13 unit watersheds are impaired from group II and III affected by non-point sources. Therefore, application of Best Management Practices (BMPs) is needed for these watersheds. Evaluation of impaired waterbody using Cumulative flow frequency group is able to determine the extent of the judgment to TWQ exceeded by the flow conditions and helps proper setting Standard flow and planning pollutant reduction for TMDL.
