On the Model Tests for POD Propulsion Ships

  • The procedures of model test and performance prediction for the CRP-POD propulsion ships, are studied. At the CRP-POD system, which are highly applicable to ultra large container carriers, RPM ratio of two propellers is not fixed, unlike conventional CRP system, and hence the power of each propeller must be predicted respectively. In this paper, a CRP-POD system is designed for 10,000 TEU class ultra large container carriers, and the characteristics of the CRP-POD system are experimentally studied. Finally, based on this study, the procedure of powering performance evaluation for CRP-POD propulsion ships is suggested. However, further studies on quantitative correction of the present procedure are required.

  • KHSR(Korean High Speed Railway) had achieved the maximum speed of 350 km/h last year. And then, we have concentrated to improve the reliability of the overall system, in particular, motor block of the locomotive. In this paper, simple technique for operating PWM converters under the voltage distortion is introduced. In addition, the electrical braking technique is also made to have the braking capability under the dead zone. Test results revealed the verification of the proposed techniques.

  • In this material, a traction motor for light railway vehicle was developed. Aluminium -Diecasting process was selected in order to reduce the manufacturing cost of making rotor bars and rotor rings of the motor, instead of copper or copper alloy rotor bars and rotor rings. And the results of experiment satisfied the international standard IEC 349-2.

  • This paper described the development of technology for LRT (Light Rail Transit) power system, which are sponsored by MOCT and supervised by KRRI. Especially, manufacture, interface between components and composition for DC Switchgear are focused. Most main components for DC switchgear(Protective Relay, HSCB, DS) are made by own. Also the type test report of international testing laboratory about the DC Switchgear based on IEC regulations is introduced. Finally the product will be proved based on field test.

  • In this study, an insulation design program which can calculate electric field of the GIS bus parts easily was developed. It also can evaluate the insulation safety depending on gas density. For bus parts of $1{\varphi}$ GIS, it was intended to provide a optimal diameter of a conductor and an enclosure automatically for the convenience of GIS insulation designer. This program was coded by Visual Basic and electric field was calculated by the Charge Simulation Method(CSM), which is one of the most accurate method for an electric field analysis.

  • This paper presents recent studies on the on-line insulation monitoring and diagnostic systems for transformers developed by HHI. Sufficiently high sensitivity and accuracy for practical use were achieved for the system, combined with communication networks to provide an on-line remote monitoring system. Several alarm criteria are formulated to enable a superimposed monitoring system to perform decisive action. The reasons for monitoring the condition and maintaining the health of electrical apparatus were discussed. The experience at the fields and the criteria for the judgment are also discussed in detail.

  • In order to observe the thermal behavior of oil immersed power transformers the temperature rise prediction algorithm and monitoring system were developed. The algorithm is formulated into a computer program based on the TNM (Thermal Network Method) which was divided into several elements, and the temperature of each element was calculated according to each time lapse. A monitoring system can show the real time active part temperatures of the transformer under various electric loads and for any types of thermal environment.

  • 전자계 및 열/유동 해석 프로그램을 활용한 수치해석적 방법으로 변압기 외함의 자계손실과 온도상승을 계산하는 경우, 많은 시간이 소요되기 때문에, 설계 또는 고객 요구시 신속한 대응이 어렵다. 따라서 3차원 간이 계산법을 정립하여 신속 정확한 해석적 방법으로 접근할 필요가 있었다, 본 연구에서는 권선의 누설자속에 의해 발생하는 변압기 외함의 자계손실을 계산하고 이에 따른 온도상승을 추정하고자 하였다. 또한, 실제 변압기의 온도상승 시험을 통해 온도상승 계산 결과의 정확성을 검증하고자 하였다.
