The characteristics of ichthyofauna and fish community in Lake Goesan were examined from April 2010 to October 2012. During the survey period thirty six species belonging to 11 families were collected. Dominant species by number were Hemibarbus labeo (29.9%) and Zacco platypus (20.0%). In biomass, the dominant species were H. labeo (37.2%) and Carassius auratus (17.9%). Also, fourteen Korean endemic fish species (38.9%) and one endangered species (Acheilognathus signifer) were collected. Further, one catadromous species was observed for stock enhancement (Anguilla japonica), in addition to two land-locked anadromous species (Hypomesus nipponensis, Plecoglossus altivelis) and three exotic species (Cyprinus carpio (Israeli type), C. cuvieri, Micropterus salmoides). According to the length-weight relation of C. auratus and M. salmoides, the b values were 3.13~2.99, 3.11~2.99, showing a declining tendency annually. However, for H. labeo and Z. platypus, the b values were 2.98~3.07, 3.06~3.23 respectively, showing an increasing trend. The slope values for C. auratus and M. salmoides population conditions were controlled by K factor showing a tendency to decrease, but H. labeo and Z. platypus were showing a tendency to gradually increase.
The ichthyofauna and structure of the fish community of Hapcheon Lake on the Hwang River were surveyed at six localities from May 2004 to Feb. 2005. There were 36 species belonging to 31 genera and 12 families in the Hapcheon Lake system. Of these, 24 species (66.7%) were cyprinids; cobitids and centropomids were next with 2 species (5.6%) each. The dominant species in the Hapcheon Lake system was Hemiculter eigenmanni (relative abundance 28.4%), the subdominant species Hemibarbus labeo (24.1%). Ten species (28.3%) of the 36 were Korean endemic species. Among the endemic species, H. eigenmanni and Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae were abundant at each locality except site 6, but the eight other species were rare. In biomass, H. labeo comprised about 36.5% of the total weight, H. eigenmanni 22.3%, Cyprinus carpio 7.5%, Hypomesus nipponensis 6.9%, Culter brevicauda 3.7% and Lepomis macrochirus 3.6%. Average dominance, diversity, and evenness index of the fish community collected from six localities in the Hapcheon Lake system were 0.21, 0.85, and 0.67, respectively.

Artificial fertilization of ice fish, Mypomesus transpaciticus nipponensis caught at Milyang-river and Osib-chun brook was performed in March 24, 1990, and the hatched larvae were reared for 25 days to describe the development of eggs and larvae. Fertilized eggs were spherical in shape, measuring $0.85\~1.05\;mm$ in diameter (mean: 0.97 mm) and translucent adhesive with many small-sized oil globules on the surface. Hatching in the indoor tank started from the 170 hours after fertilization under $16.5^{\circ}C$ water temperature. Newly-hatched larvae were measured $3.85\~4.25\;mm$ in total length (mean: 4.05 mm), and mouth and anus were not yet open. They had one yolk sac on the anterior part of abdomen, straight-type's notochord, and $52\~54$ myotomes. The larva of 5 days old transformed to postlarval stage and measured $5.20\~5.65\;mm$ (mean: 5.37 mm) in total length. As the yolk sac was completely absorbed, mouth and anus were open, and they fed rotifers vigorously. In 20 days after hatching, the larvae grew to 8.38 mm in TL, and the caudal notochord flex at $45^{\circ}$. In 25 days after hatching, total length reached 9.63 mm. The pan of the fin-fold of the future dorsal and anal fins became high.
The ichthyofauna of certain reservoirs in Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, were studied during the period from October 7-19, 2005. During the study period, 9,480 individuals (ind.) belonging to 22 species, 17 genera, 8 families and 4 orders were collected. Of these, 11 species were cyprinidae fishes, and the dominant species was Pseudorasbora parva (relative abundance 47.14%). There were six Korean endemic species (289 ind., relative abundance 3.04%), including Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae, Squalidus mulimaculatus, Hemiculter eigenmanni, Iksookimia yongdokensis and Coreoperca herzi, and the dominant Korean endemic species was Pseudobagrus brevicorpus (relative abundance 3.04%) collected in Hoehakji, Cheonggyeji, Ahnsimji and Mabukji. There were five introduced species. Three species, including Hemiculter eigenmanni, Pseudobagrus fulvidraco and Hypomesus nipponensis, were introduced from other native stream systems, and two species, including Carassius cuvieri and Lepomis macrochirus, originated in foreign countries. Of these, Lepomis macrochirus (l,521 ind., relative abundance 16.05%) was collected at the all reservoirs except at Gidongji. These results suggest that the exotic fishes in question have been widely dispersed within the reservoirs in Pohang-si.
The fish community and introduced fish were surveyed at eight stations of Lake Soyang from March to October, 2013. A total of 41 species of twelve families were collected from the survey stations and among them, two species: Hemibarbus mylodon and Siniperca scherzeri (albino type) were identified as natural monument. There were fifteen Korean endemic species (36.6 %) including Acheilognathus yamatsutae. When compared with previous data (2003), A. yamatsutae, Pseudorasbora parva, Sarcocheilichthys nigripinnis morii, Sarcocheilichthys variegatus wakiyae, Orthrias nudus, Leiocassisuss ussuriensis, Oncorhynchus mykiss, and Micropterus salmoides appeared new in the lake. Dominant species were Hypomesus olidus (St. 1, 3, 6, 7, 8), Lepomis macrochirus (St. 2, 4) and Zacco platypus (St. 5). Of the 12 introduced species fishes in Lake Soyang, Anguilla japonica, Hemiculter eigenmanni, H. nipponensis, Rhinogobius giurinus and Tridentiger brevispinis were introduced and released from other native river water zones in Korea but Cyprinus carpio (Israeli type), Carassius cuvieri, O. mykiss, Ictalurus puntatus, L. macrochirus, and M. salmoides originated from foreign countries.

This study investigated the characteristics of fish communities at the Lake Yedang, in 2013 to 2014 and 2017. During the survey period, there were 29 species of 10 families collected from 3 survey stations. Of them, Cyprinidae occupied 34.5% (14 species), Bagridae, Gobiidae 10.3% (3 species), and Cobitidae, Centrachidae were 6.9% (2 species) in the number of species, respectively. Korean endemic species were 4 species (13.8%) Abbottina springeri, Cobitis nalbanti, Pseudobagrus koreanus, Odontobutis interrupta and accounted for a low rate. There were 3 species (10.3%) exotic species including Carassius cuvieri, Lepomis macrochirus, Micropterus salmoides. As a result of community analysis, dominant index was 0.45~1.00, diversity index was 0.19~2.30 and richness index was 0.41~1.94.
This study investigated the characteristics of fish communities, habitat characteristics and the age of Lefua costata in the Jusucheon of Gangneung-si, Korea from January to December 2013. The survey collected 23 species belonging to ten families from 6 survey stations. The dominant and subdominant species were Zacco koreanus (relative abundance, 22.1%) and Rhynchocypris steindachneri (20.1%), respectively. The next most abundant species were Tridentiger brevispinis (10.7%), Orthrias nudus (9.7%), Zacco platypus (8.6%), Lefua costata (7.9%), Iksookimia koreensis (6.0%) and Pungitius sinensis (3.0%). Among the fish species collected, one species, P. sinensis, was class II endangered wildlife by the Ministry of Environment, and four species (Z. koreanus, I. koreensis, Silurus microdorsalis and Cottus koreanus), were endemic to Korea. Additionally, five migration fish species (Tribolodon hakonensis, Hypomesus nipponensis, Gasterosteus aculeatus, Oncorhynchus keta and Plecoglossus altivelis) were collected. The similarity index based on species composition and numbers separated fish communites in the Jusucheon according to main section, i.e., uppermost(St. 1), upper (St. 2~4), middle (St. 5), lower (St. 6). Ecosystem health of Jusucheon Stream (fish assessement index) evaluated using fish was assessed as very good (5 stations) and good (1 station). The main inhabit of L. costata was the middle-lower stream of aquatic plants habitats with mud bottoms, very slow water velocity and water depth 40~80 cm. The age groups for L. costata (female) estimated by the frequency distribution of total length in the spawning season (May) indicated that the 24~37 mm is 1-year old, the 38~51 mm group is 2-year old, the 52~63 mm is 3-year old, 64~77 mm is 4-year old and the 80~91 mm is more than 5-year old. Finally, characteristics of fish communities, habitat characteristics and the age of Lefua costata in the Jusucheon was discussed.
The ichthyofauna in certain reservoirs in Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do were studied from August 17 to September 22, 2005. During the study period, 22,747 individuals belonging to 25 species, 20 genera, 9 families and 4 orders were collected. Of these, 14 species were cyprinid fishes, and the dominant species was Pseudorasbora parva (relative abundance 52.28%). There were six Korean endemic species (8.51%), including Sarcocheilichthys variegatus wakiyae, Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae, Squalidus mulimaculatus, Hemiculter eigenmanni, Pseudobagrus brevicorpus and Odontobutis platycephala the dominant species was Squalidus chankaensis tsuchigae (7.59%). There were six introduced species (25.00%), of which Hemiculter eigenmanni, Pseudobagrus fulvidraco and Hypomesus nipponensis were introduced from other native stream systems (20.99%), and Cyprinus carpio (Israeli), Carassius cuvieri and Lepomis macrochirus were exotic species (4.01%).

Freshwater fish fauna and community structure were surveyed through 21 lakes in the Yeungnam area including Gyeongsangbukdo and Gyeongsangnamdo provinces, Korean Peninsula from April 2008 to October 2009. Among 21 lakes, 16 lakes belong to the Nakdong River and 5 are independent drainages. From the present study, 61 species (44 genera, 15 families) were collected including 32 cyprinid species (52.5%), 6 cobitid species (9.8%) and so on. The dominant and subdominant species in aspect of the number of individuals were Hypomesus nipponensis (26.6%) and Squalidus gracilis majimae (14.8%), respectively. On the other hand, in aspect of in biomass, dominant and subdominant species were Lepomis macrochirus (19.8%) and Cyprinus carpio (14.7%), respectively. Among 61 examined species, there were found 20 Korean endemic species and 2 Korean endangered species (Pseudobagrus brevicorpus and Pungitius kaibarae). P. brevicorpus was found in Yongyeonji and Yeongcheonho, and P. kaibarae in Yongyeonji. In addition, 5 exotic species were identified such as Cyprinus carpio nudus (leather carp), Carassius cuvieri, Hypophthalmichthys molitrix, Lepomis macrochirus and Micropterus salmoides. Interestingly, a bluegill L. machrochirus appeared dominant or subdominant species in 5 of 21 examined lakes. Five species introduced from the other rivers in Korean Peninsula were additionally described. In the present study, it was first reported that Micropercops swinhonis inhabits in the Nakdong river basin. The fish species diversity, evenness and dominant indices were examined, and a dendrogram based on similarity indices of inhabiting species among the 21 examined lakes was constructed and discussed.
