17-4 PH 스텐레스강의 수소취화방지에 관한 연구 (A study on the Reardation Embrittlement in 17-4 PH Stainaless steel)

  • Effects of oxide film which is grown by heat treatment on the hydrogen embrittlement (HE) of 17-4 PH stainless steel were investigated. Specimems were tensile tested after cathodic hydrogen charging and the be haviors of HE were evaluated from the elongation change. It was found that specimems solution treated at $1040^{\circ}C$ for 1/2hour showed best retardation ability to HE for both aging conditions i.e. $480^{\circ}C{\times}1hr$ and $620^{\circ}C{\times}4hrs$. X-ray and Auger study revealed that the major composition of oxide films are $Cr_2O_3$ and $CuCr_2O_4$.

Al-6.3Zn-2.4Mg 합금의 수소충전에 따른 기계적 특성 연구 (A Study on Mechanical Characteristic of Hydrogen Charged Al-6.3Zn-2.4Mg Alloy)

  • In this study, the extruded Al-6.3Zn-2.4Mg alloys were selected among the 7000 series aluminum alloys sensitive to hydrogen environment in order to examine the effects of both the aging conditions and the length of hydrogen charging period on the mechanical properties of the alloy. The specimens were aged for 24hours at $100^{\circ}C$ (under aging (UA)), $120^{\circ}C$ (peak aging (PA)), and $160^{\circ}C$ (over aging (OA)), respectively. Charging tests were performed at RT for 12, 24, 36 hours under potentiostatic conditions (-2000 mV vs (Ag/AgCl)) for 12, 24 and 36 hours in 1M $H_2SO_4$ and 0.1%$NH_4SCN$ solution. The fracture surface was examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern in peak aged sample was obtained before and after hydrogen charging from extruded Al-6.3Zn-2.4Mg alloys. The decreasing rate of tensile strength and elongation is represented in order of over aging < under aging < peak aging, and it is believed that the hydrogen recharge is more sensitive to elongation than tensile strength. The formation of $AlH_3$ in hydrogen charged Al-6.3Zn-2.4Mg alloys has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies.

소형펀치 시험을 이용한 API 5L X65 강의 수소취화에 관한 연구 II : 용접부 (Study on Hydrogen Embrittlement for API 5L X65 Steel Using Small Punch Test II : Weld Metal)

  • 본 연구에서는 X65강의 용접부에 전기화학적 방법으로 수소를 장입한 이후에, 소형펀치시험편을 사용하여 기계적 강도를 평가하고 파면을 분석하였다. 모재부의 경우와는 다르게 용접부에서는 수소장입정도에 따라 강도저하가 민감하게 나타나는 거동을 보였다. 수소장입시 전류밀도, 온도, 장입시간의 변화에 따라 강도 및 연신율 등의 기계적 성질이 민감하게 변화하였다. 특히, 전류밀도가 높고 장입시간이 길어짐에 따라서 강도의 저하가 크게 나타났으나, 상대적으로 전해질 온도의 영향은 비교적 작게 나타났다. 또한 주사전자현미경을 통해 관찰한 시험편의 파면에서 수소침투된 표면근처의 재료에서 취성파면이 발견되었으며, 이는 강도의 저하 거동과 일치되는 경향이다. 수소취화 거동 평가 연구를 위해 본 연구에서 채택한 시험시스템은 재현성이 높게 나타나고 있으며, 이 방법을 이용한 재료의 강도평가 결과 매우 높은 신뢰성을 보이고 있다. 따라서 소형펀치시험과 전기분극법을 이용함으로써 X65강 용접부의 수소취화에 의한 강도변화를 민감하게 평가할 수 있었다. 산출된 데이터의 통계적인 처리를 통해 강도변화값을 예측할 수 있었음도 보였다.

고강도 볼트 카드늄 취성파괴 사례연구 (The Case Study on Cadmium Embrittlement Failure of High Strength Bolt)

  • It happened fractures on special bolt which supported main landing gear actuator up-lock rod of aircraft. Cracks were initiated mainly from the center hole and the external thread of the special bolt. To find out failure root causes, metallographic, fractographic analyses as well as test work were carried out. From the fractographic study by SEM work, fracture occurred by a brittle intergranular type failure. The fracture could be occurred primarily by solid-metal-induced embrittlement due to cadmium embrittler penetrated into the flaw existed after machining work for center hole and thread on the bolt during baking treatment processing to eliminate hydrogen. For its successful application, cadmium EP bolts require proper and adequate baking treatment after electroplating, and make no more drilled center hole on the bolt to prevent same failure.

  • 아연은 인체에 유해한 카드뮴을 대체하여 금속재료에 수소가스가 침투하거나 금속재료 내부로부터 수소가 누출되는 것을 방지하기 위한 친환경 코팅 재료로 주목받고 있다. 일반적으로 수성 및 산성 분위기에서 수행되는 아연(Zn) 및 아연 합금의 전기도금은 낮은 쿨롱 효율, 부식 및 수소 누출과 같은 단점이 있어 산업적 이용이 어렵다. 본 연구에서는 염화콜린과 에틸렌글리콜을 이용하여 Deep-eutectic solvent를 합성하고 이를 용매로 사용하여 아연 도금용 전해질을 제조하여 STS 304 기판 위에 전기 도금하였다. 주사전자현미경(SEM)과 원자힘현미경(AFM)을 이용하여 표면 미세구조와 조도를 관찰하였다. X선회절분석(XRD)을 이용하여 도금 막의 결정구조를 분석하였다. 마지막으로 수소를 주입한 STS 304 기판에 최적화된 Zn 도금액을 코팅한 시료의 수소 방출 방지 효과를 분석하였다.

Hot-dipped Al-Mg-Si Coating Steel - Its Structure, Electrochemical and Mechanical Properties -

  • Hot-dipped Al-Mg-Si coatings to alternate Zn and Zn alloy coatings for steel were examined on metallographic structure, corrosion resistance, sacrificial ability, formation and growth of inter-metallic compounds, and mechanical properties. Near the eutectic composition of quasi-binary system of Al-$Mg_2Si$, very fine eutectic structure of ${\alpha}$-Al and $Mg_2Si$ was obtained and it showed excellent corrosion resistivity and sacrificial ability for a steel in sodium chloride solutions. Formation and growth of Al-Fe inter-metallic compounds at the interface of substrate steel and coated layer was suppressed by addition of Si. The inter-metallic compounds layer was usually brittle, however, the coating layer did not peel off as long as the thickness of the inter-metallic compounds layer was small enough. During sacrificial protection of a steel, amount of hydrogen into the steel was more than ten times smaller than that of Zn coated steel, suggesting to prevent hydrogen embrittlement. Al-Mg-Si coating is expected to apply for several kinds of high strength steels.

선박의 해양 부식과 부식방지 장치 (Apparatus on Corrosion Protection and Marine Corrosion of Ship)

  • Ships and offshore structures are exposed to harsh marine environments, and maintenance and repair are becoming increasingly important to the industry and the economy. The major corrosion phenomenons of metals and alloys in marine environment are pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, crevice corrosion, fatigue corrosion, cavitation-erosion and etc. due to the effect of chloride ions and is quite serious. Methods of protection against corrosion can generally be divided into two groups: anodic protection and cathodic protection. Anodic protection is limited to the passivity characteristics of a material in its environment, while cathodic protection can apply methods such as sacrificial anode cathodic protection and impressed current cathodic protection. Sacrificial anode methods using Al and Zn alloys are widely used for marine structures and vessels intended for use in seawater. Impressed current cathodic protection methods are also widely used in marine environments, but tend to generate problems related to hydrogen embrittlement caused by hydrogen gas generation. Therefore, it is important to the proper maintenance and operation of the various corrosion protection systems for ship in the harsh marine environment.

  • 수소의 일반적인 특성과 온도 변화에 따른 ortho-수소와 para-수소의 비율에 대하여 살펴보았다. 수소의 독특한 특성인 넓은 연소 영역, 낮은 점화 에너지, 낮은 최대역전온도 및 수소 취성을 소개하였다. 예냉과 팽창 엔진을 사용하는 액체 수소 제조 방법과 촉매를 이용한 ortho-para 변환을 살펴보았으며, 액체로켓 추진제로서의 특성과 고려해야 할 사항들을 검토하였다.
