흡입용 PEMWE형 수소 발생기에서 증류수 공급 방법이 성능에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Distilled Water Supply Method on Performance of PEMWE Typed Hydrogen Generators for Inhalation)

  • The present study has investigated the performance of hydrogen gas generators for inhalation purposes based on polyelectrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE). The system applied two watering methods. One is pumped water (pumping system) and the other is gravity-fed water without a pump (non-pumping system). The cell efficiencies were compared by measuring the cell voltage and temperature in the hydrogen gas generator, respectively. The results show that the cell voltage and temperature increase with the cell current. The cell temperature is lower in the pumping system than that in the non-pumping system at a given cell current. Even though the amount of hydrogen production is the same regardless of the pumping system, the cell efficiency of the hydrogen gas generator in the non-pumping system is better than that in the pumping system.

  • Recently, many researches of the alternative and renewable energy have introduced due to the increasing oil price, the limited natural resources and the environmental pollution. In case of hydrogen energy, it has some merits, which can be substituted the existing the fossil fuel because of no contaminants from the combustion and the chemical reaction. We have been developing 1kW Hydrogen Linear Generator. In this paper, the thermal characteristic of this prototype linear generator has been investigated and obtained reliable analysis results comparing with experimental measurements. Especially, it is predicted that in case of 1kW, 60Hz test sample, the results satisfy with the temperature standards of H type insulation, which is shown average $69.0^{\circ}C$ temperature distribution at the coil.

  • This study is about characteristics of generating efficiency and $NO_x$ emissions of a 30 kW gas engine generator in case of using model biogas with hydrogen addition. In this case, both generating efficiency and $NO_x$ emissions are lower than the case of using urban gas (LNG). However, generating efficiency and $NO_x$ emissions are higher than the case of using model biogas only. It means that adding hydrogen which has a high flame propagation velocity has the possibility to improve the generating efficiency, but simultaneously it is also able to increase the $NO_x$ emissions of a gas engine generator.

  • For hydrogen-cooled large turbine generators, partial discharges in ground wall insulations are suppressed by high hydrogen pressure. The first goal of the experiment is to investigate the effect of hydrogen pressure on partial discharge activity and aging rate in turbine generator winding insulations. A series of tests have been performed on two groups of the accelerated aging experiments. The first group of stator windings was aged under hydrogen pressure of 4 atm while the second group of stator windings was aged under air atmosphere. The stator windings aged under air atmosphere suffer from larger partial discharge magnitude with larger voids at high electrical stress than those under hydrogen pressure. The second goal of the experiment is to evaluate the validity of on-line measurement technique which is normally measured under hydrogen environment. The test results show that further experiments are needed to apply the on-line scheme to turbine generator being under high hydrogen pressure.

발전기 고정자 권선의 절연열화 메카니즘 분석 (Analysis of Insulation Aging Mechanism in Generator Stator Windings)

  • The mica/epoxy composite used in generator(rated 22 kV and 500 MW) stator windings was aged at 180$\^{C}$ for up to 1000 hours in air and hydrogen. The degradation mechanism was investigated through the defect of evolution and microstructural analysis by performing SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope). As the thermal aging time increases, the number of voids per unit volume increases at the mica/epoxy interface of generator stator windings. The aged specimens in hydrogen showed retarded generation and growth of voids. Accelerated aging tests were conducted using the combination of thermal and electrical aging in air and hydrogen. The aging was carried out at a combined stress such as thermal aging at 110$\^{C}$, electrical aging at 5.5 kV/mm and frequencies 420 Hz in air, and electrical aging at 5.5 kV/mm and frequencies 420 Hz in hydrogen (pressure 4 kg/㎠). Thermal and electrical aging generates large voids at the mica/epoxy interface in air. Electrical aging in hydrogen also generates small voids, delaminations and cracks in mica tapes.

  • Experiments on mechanical fatigue were conducted using the specimens which were cut from hydrogen cooled generator(rated 22kV and 50OMW) stator windings. We have investigated the aged mechanism of mica/epoxy insulation systems under air or hydrogen by both the tensile and compressive loadings. The fracture of generator stator windings is generally affected by mechanical stress. Thus, the tensile strength test were conducted. In this case, the maximum strength and strain are quite different between sound and aged specimens. It is observed that low bonded interface parts of tapes generally have lower strength than those of normal tapes which causes stress. In order to estimate the effects of cyclic load by the electromagnetic forces while the generator starts/stops, the mechanical fatigue test was also conducted. It is confirmed that the equation of expected life depends on stress amplitude and number of cycles. Though the stress amplitude and number of cycles are very tiny, the tensile fatigue of aged specimens under hydrogen atmosphere is bigger than those under air. In the case of hydrogen atmosphere, the tensile stress gives bigger effect than the compressive one.

수소수를 위한 수소분리 및 생성기 성능 평가 (Performance Evaluation of Hydrogen Separation and Generator for Hydrogen Water)

  • 본 논문에서는 수소수 생성기 구조설계를 최적화하여, 세계 최고 수준의 용존수소량(1,000~1,200 ppb)을 보유한 수소수생성기를 개발하여 평가하였다. 평가는 용존수소량, 산도, 최대수압, 산화환원전위 등 4가지로 나누어 각각의 목표치를 잡아서 평가하였다. 실험결과는 4가지 모두 5차례의 실험을 통하여 시행하였고, 모두 목표치 범위 안에서 결과가 나타나 그 우수성을 입증하였다. 또한 기능성 평가에 있어서도 그 결과는 기능성은 25/30점, 유지보수성은 17/20, 사용성은 26/30점. 효율성은 19/20점으로 나타났으며, 특히 효율성이 높게 나타나서 본 연구의 타당성을 증명하였다. 본 논문은 이러한 수소수 생성기를 즉시 출수 가능한 시스템으로 개발하여 정수기 대체재로 사용 가능하도록 하였다.

  • This study is focused on the channel design of bipolar plate in the electrode of hydrogen gas generator. The characteristics of hydrogen gas generation was studied in view of efficiency of hydrogen gas generation rate and a tendency of gas flow through the riv design of electrode. Since the flow rate and flow pattern of generated gas in the two phase flow system are the most crucial in determining the efficiency of hydrogen gas generator, we adopted the commercial analytical program of COMSOL MultiphysicsTM to calculate the theoretical flow rate of hydrogen gas from the outlet of gas generator and flow pattern of two phase fluid in the electrode. In this study, liquid electrolyte flows into the bipolar plate and decomposed into gas phase, two phase flow simulation is applied to measure the efficiency of hydrogen gas generation.

수소를 냉각매체로 하는 발전기 안전대책에 관한 연구 (A Study on the safety measures for the protection of hydrogen cooling system of generator)

  • 본 논문에서는 발전소의 발전기 냉각시스템에서 수소를 사용하므로써 발생가능한 문제점에 대한 안전대책에 관하여 언급하였다. 수소가스는 가연성 기체중 폭발범위가 대단히 크므로 이에 따른 안전대책을 강구해야 하며, 이것은 전력설비의 안정적인 운영을 위해서도 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에서는 1) 수소의 연소폭발재해와 관련된 기술적 지침을 제공함; 2) 운영환경의 위험수준에 따라 위험장소 구분하고 그에 따른 방폭전기설비의 채용; 3) 가스누설검지장치 설치 등 수소로 인한 재해를 미연에 방지할 수 있는 대책 및 기준 마련; 4) 발전소 정상운전중 안전관리체계를 정립하여 발전소 수소가스설비관련 안전관리의 표준모델을 제시하고자 하였다.

  • A linear generator driven by hydrogen (or other kind of fuel) combustion engine requires special consideration for starting because of its none-conventional way of operation. This study investigates the possibility of replacing mechanical (hydraulic) start-up with electrical motoring. Simulation study based on 1 kW prototype system shows that the mover position of a linear generator can be controlled with a proper current control of power converter.
