This paper addresses an approximation and tracking control of recurrent neural networks(RNN) using two-dimensional iterative learning algorithm for an electro-hydraulic servo system. And two dimensional learning rule is driven in the discrete system which consists of nonlinear output function and linear input. In order to control the trajectory of position, two RNN's with the same network architecture were used. Simulation results show that two RNN's using 2-D learning algorithm are able to approximate the plant output and desired trajectory to a very high degree of a accuracy respectively and the control algorithm using two same RNN was very effective to control trajectory tracking of electro-hydraulic servo system.
For investigating the effect of the pre-existing joints on the initiation pattern of hydraulic fractures, the numerical simulation of circular holes under internal hydraulic pressure with a different pattern of the joint distributions are conducted by using a finite element code, FRANC2D. The pattern of hydraulic fracturing initiation are scrutinized with changing the values of the joint length, joint offset angle. The hydraulic pressures with 70% of the peak value of borehole wall breakout pressure are applied at the similar models. The simulation results suggest that the opening-mode fracture initiated from the joint tip and propagated toward the borehole for critical values of ligament angle and joint offset angle. At these critical values, the crack grow length is influenced by joint ligament length. When the ligament length is less than 3 times the borehole diameter the crack growth length increases monotonically with increasing joint length. The opening-mode fracture disappears at the joint tip as the ligament length increases.

In offshore plants, various equipments including cranes and davits are used for safety management. Hydraulic cylinder type actuators are mainly used for luffing operations such as cranes and davits. However, in the case of a cylinder using hydraulic pressure, a separate power pack is required to supply hydraulic pressure. When used for a long time, maintenance costs such as sticking of hydraulic valves, contamination of hydraulic oil and deterioration of hydraulic hoses occur. In addition, a lot of hydraulic oil is used in the handling of cranes and davits, which causes marine pollution due to management problems. As a result, as interest in marine pollution prevention has increased recently, interest in actuators that do not use hydraulic pressure is also increasing. Therefore, in this study, we intend to develop a davit with an electric cylinder type actuator that uses electricity rather than hydraulic pressure by the SOLAS regulation. In other words, the conceptual design of the davit driven through the linear motion of the ball screw using electricity is performed, and the structural safety of the drive is also reviewed so that it can be utilized in the industrial field.

This study examined the effects of buoy shape and Nonlinear Froude-Krylov force (NFK) on a heaving-buoy-type Wave Energy Converter (WEC). Based on the Maclaurin expansion, the theoretical solutions of the NFK were derived for three different buoy shapes; hemispheric buoy, circular vertical cylinder, and truncated conical cylinder. A hydraulic power take-off system was adopted, and the latching control strategy was applied to maximize the extracted power from the WEC. The nonlinear effects of the Froude-Krylov force and restoring force on the heaving point absorber were investigated by comparing the heave Response Amplitude Operator (RAO) and time-averaged power extraction. The results showed that the conventional linear analyses were overestimated by up to 50% under the high amplitude wave condition. The latching control strategy was the most effective when peak wave period of regular or irregular wave was 0.4-0.45 times the heave natural period of the buoy.
The objectives of this study are to analyze flow characteristics for a side weir, which is an inlet structure for flow discharge reduction in the main channel through 3 dimensional numerical analysis and to understand the efficiency of the overflow effect at the side weir. In this study over 40 simulations using FLOW-3D, a computational fluid dynamics program were conducted, and the results were analyzed to find the influence of the flow hydraulics, geometry, channel and weir shapes on the coefficient. It is especially considered the relatively high stage in downstream that may cause flow within channel to be backed up along the channel. Additionally by setting up the scale of simulations much larger than the existing test equipment designed by other researchers, it is intended to analyze more accurate hydraulic behavior along with the realistic hydraulic features such as structures and volumes of flow. The results show that for design with subcritical flow only if the Froude number of upstream is sustained below 0.5 and the length of weir is 33-100% of the width of channel, it is expected to improve the efficiency of the overflow over a side weir.
Several parameters of hydraulic architecture relating to hydraulic conductance in xylem vessels were investigated in the current-year shoots of six species of deciduous oak trees. The above parameters were also investigated in the sprouts of Quercus mongolica and Q. variabilis, as well as in the seedlings of Q. mongolica and Q. acutissima. The values of specific conductivity, leaf specific conductivity and Hagen-Poiseuille's relative hydraulic conductivity relating to vessel diameter of Q. dentata were the highest in all of the species studied. The above values of most of the species studied were higher in May-June than in September-October because of increasing the vessel embolism by cavitation and so on through the growing season. The estimated values of relative hydraulic conductivity of vessel by Hagen-Poiseuille's empirical equation and the real values of hydraulic conductivity presented positive relationships in most of the species studied. Huber value and leaf specific conductity using leaf area or leaf weight generally exhibited similar patterns each other even if having some exceptions. The hydraulic conductances of sprouting shoots were much better than those of normal growing shoots in Q. rnongolica and Q. variabilis. The specific conductivity and leaf specific conductivity were rapidly decreased by the vessel embolism through cavitating just after cutting the shoots in Q. mongolica and Q. acutissima seedlings. Diurnal changes of the conductivities in the seedlings of Q. mongolica and Q. acutissima presented the possibility of their self-controlling of conductance by active moisture absorption under mild water stress. Specific conductivity and leaf specific conductivity, and so on of Q. acutissima seedlings subjected to periodical moisture stress or not have decreased through the growing season, but the influences of moisture stress to the conductance were not proved definitely because of influencing similarly and simultaneously to the development of xylem and leaf having inverse relation in the influences. The values of conductivities were higher generally in middle or upper parts of stems than root collar in the seedlings.

In case of the domestic condition, as the initiating from Sumjin River Dam, total 14 units of multipurpose dams had been constructed in 1965 for the roles of flood control, waterpower generation, irrigation, water supply, industrial water supply. In the case of such multipurpose dam, it produces electric energy by converting the potential energy utilizing its head and quantity of the water into kinetic energy. However, in this process, since during the time when the turbine connected to the hydraulic turbine dynamo revolves and there occurs a loud noise, it brings the physical, mental bad influences to those people also a decline of an effective working efficiency. On such point of view, after selection of various 16 measurement points, this study has measured and analyzed the travelling characteristics of noise generated at the hydraulic turbine dynamo in Daechung Dam, and also has evaluated the degree of indoor noise using the evaluation index such as PSIL, NC. As the result of noise-evaluation, in case of Daechung Dam, since the noise damage grade appears very seriously at various spaces, it is considering that its soundproof measure would be necessitated keenly. Also, it is considered that such data could be utilized as the valuable material hereafter for establishment of an efficient noise-reduction countermeasure and a comfortable working environment for the hydraulic turbine dynamo plant.

In this study, the correlations between flow rate, exhaust pressure, and droplet mean diameter with the shape factor of a water curtain nozzle were investigated. To analyze the flow coefficient and the distribution constant on the effects of the hydraulic diameter, five nozzles (D5W3, D5W6, D5W8, D4W6, and D7W6) were mocked up with a consideration of the internal diameter and width. The results showed that the flow coefficient increased in proportion to the constant 0.79 and 62.8 of the hydraulic diameters according to the diameter. As the nozzle width increased, the average droplet size decreased to the -0.235 exponential of the pressure. The average volume was reduced, in which the size distribution of the volume indeterminate decreased with increasing pressure for the same nozzle of the water-curtain. The distribution constants of droplet increased in proportion to the 0.258 exponential of the hydraulic diameter and 244.21. These results are expected to be useful to the design of pressure, flow meter, and average droplet size from a water curtain nozzle to predict the flow characteristics.
This study was carried out to compare the characteristics of hydraulic architecture by measurement of leaf specific conductivity(LSC) in the twenty-one deciduous broad-leaved species. The LSC's of stems were higher than in branches except Acer mono, A. triflorum, Betula schmidtii, Fraxinus rhynchophylla and Zelkova serrata, and lowest in junction parts as compared with stems and branches. In diffuse-porous species, the LSC was much higher in B. plalyphylla var. iaponica, B. schmidtii, Cornus controversa, Tilia amurensis than those of other species and especially lowest in A. triflorum. In ring-porous species, the LSC was much higher in Maackia amurensis, Paulownia tomentasa, Quercus aliens, Q. serrata than those of other species and lowest in Ulmus davidiana var. japonica. The LSC's of 1-year-old terminal shoots of stem(the leader and adjacent laterals) in A. triflorum, C. controversa. F. mandshurica, Q. mongolica and Z. serrata ranged from 22 to $139{\mu}{\ell}/g$ in the leaders, and 11 to $73{\mu}{\ell}/g$ in the adjacent laterals. The LSC's of leaders were usually greater than the adjacent laterals because of the hydraulic dominance of the leader shoot.
