Design of High Speed Solenoid Actuator for Hydraulic Servo Valve Operation

  • Modern electric controlled valves are demanded that its solenoid actuator should be smaller size, lighter weight, lower consumption power, and higher response time. For achieving these purposes, the major design factors of solenoid actuator such as magnetic flux density, coil turn numbers, plunger size, bobbin dimension, and etc. are must be optimized. In this study, for optimal design of high speed solenoid actuator for hydraulic servo valve operation, we draw up governing equations which are composed by combination of electromagnetic theories and empirical knowledge, and deduct the values of major design factors by use of them. For more increase the operating speed, voice coil are used as main armature in manufacturing of prototype actuator. And, we have proven the propriety of the governing equations and speed increasing method by experiments using the hydraulic valve assembly adopted the prototype of solenoid actuator.

  • As most of today's automatic transmissions in passenger car adopt a electro-hydraulic control system, the role of electronically controlled solenoid valves occupies an important position and it is essential to predict solenoid transient characteristics in order to design and evaluate the performance of the hydraulic control system. However, in general, both the magnetic and electrical parameters f the solenoid system are hardly known and it is not easy to model this section with moderate complexity although mechanical system could be developed using the classical second order system. This paper presents a dynamic modelling technique of a solenoid valve, that is controlled by pulse width modulation for an automatic transmission, in terms of system identification theory. In nonlinear computer simulation, it is shown that the identified systems which produce magnetic force to input duty cycle for various excitation signals predict the static and dynamic performance very well near the operating point and in experiment conducted to confirm the validity of identification theory for PWM solenoid valve, we find that there is a good agreement between the experimental data and simulation result. Hence, this model can be utilized in the development of pressure control system with PWM solenoid valve.

브레이크용 소형 압전유압펌프 가압 동특성 해석 (On the Pressurization Characteristics of Small Piezoelectric Hydraulic Pump for Brake System)

  • 본 연구에서는 압전유압펌프의 챔버부, 체크밸브, 부하, 펌프구동제어기 등 유압펌프 전체 구성품의 해석 모델링을 통하여 브레이크용 소형 압전유압펌프의 가압 동특성을 해석하였다. 가압 동특성을 해석하기 위해 먼저 적층형 압전작동기가 챔버내에서 압력을 형성하는 과정을 모델링하였다. 체크밸브 개도에 따른 유량계수 식을 얻기 위해, 유한요소코드 해석을 통해 체크밸브 압력분포 및 유동결과를 얻은 후 체크밸브 유량계수식을 커브 피팅으로 유도하였다. 또한 부하압력을 피드백 받아 작동기 입력전압을 제어하여 부하압력이 입력명령 압력을 잘 추종하도록 펌프구동제어기를 설계하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 브레이크 작동에 필요한 정상작동압력까지 도달하는데 걸리는 시간은 약 0.03ms 정도이다. 본 연구에서 얻어진 해석 시뮬레이션 결과는 실제 실험결과와 비교를 통해 타당성을 검증하였다.

3위치 솔레노이드 벨브를 이용한 유압 조타 장치의 제어에 관한 연구 (A Study on a Control of Hydraulic Steering Gear by Using Three-Position Solenoid Valve)

  • Generally, the three position solenoid valve has veen used for the hydraulic steering gear on account of it’s low cost, simplicity in device, etc. But, there is some off-set because of dead-zone which exists in on-off valves. In this paper, we proposed a combined controller which was added an integral controller to an only on-off one in hydraulic steering gear control system used low speed three position solenoid valve. Experimental results show that the off-set is removed, and the number of valve switching is reduced considerable. The validity of proposed method comparing with an only on-off control was proved by the response experiments.

유압 밸브-모터 시스템의 불확실성에 대한 $H_{\infty}$ 제어 (The $H_{\infty}$ control of the uncertainty for the hydraulic fluid valve-motor system)

  • This study describes a hydraulic fluid property compensator under the various operating conditions. Because hydraulic fluid systems have much more excellent features than other control systems, they are used in many fields. However, the characteristics of hydraulic fluid are changed due to various operating conditions. This phenomenon is called uncertainty. Especially, bulk modulus is considered as the most dominant parameter in this study. Under the wide range of temperature and pressure, bulk modulus is changed. In order to overcome the uncertainty, $H_{\infty}$ technique will be used for this study. Spectral factorization, model-matching problem and controller parametrization are also applied to achieve the desired robust control action. Designed controller using the $H_{\infty}$ technique, is adopted for the hydraulic fluid valve-motor system.

고속 이앙기의 유압 수평 제어 장치 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of a Hydraulic Level Control System for High-speed Rice Transplanting Machines)

  • This study was conducted to develop system for high speed rice transplanting machines. The control system includes a sensor detecting the tilt angle of the seedling bed, a micro-controller and a hydraulic system consisting of a double acting cylinder, a four-way three-position solenoid valve, a relief valve and a hydraulic pump. The levelling system shared the pump with the existing steering control, resulting in a tandem center circuit for the steering and levelling control systems. Using the input signal from the sensor, the micro-controller determined and generated the output signal to control the cylinder through the solenoid valve to keep the seedling bed always parallel to the water surface regardless of soil unevenness during the transplanting operations. Both an ON/OFF and a PWM control schemes were tested. When the flow rate was more than 1 ι/min in the ON/OFF control, the system showed unstable rolling. However, in the PWM control, the system worked stably although the flow rate was more than 1 ι/min. The PWM control showed a better performance when a large difference between the angle and the dead band of the control system occurred. The characteristics of tile system response to given tilt angles were predicted by a computer simulation. Both the ON/OFF and the PWM control systems worked well providing that the operating and waiting times were properly adjusted.

직접 구동형 서보밸브와 전진 보상기를 적용한 유압식 토크 부하 시뮬레이터의 설계에 관한 연구 (The Study of the Design of a Hydraulic Torque Load Simulator Equipped with a Direct Drive Servo Valve and a Feed forward Compensator)

  • Hydraulic torque load simulator is essential to test and qualify the performance of various angle control systems. Typically a flapper-type second stage servovalve is applied to the load simulator, but here the direct drive servovalve, which is a kind of one-stage valve and affected by the large flow force, is applied. Since the torque load is applied not to the stationary shaft but to the rotating shaft of the angle control system, the controlled torque of load simulator is not accurate due to the rotating speed of the angle control system. A feedforward compensator is designed and applied to minimize the disturbance-like effect. A mathematical model is derived and linearized to analyze the stability, accuracy and responsiveness of the torque load simulator. The parameter effects of a controller, servovalve, hydraulic motor, rotating spring shaft are analyzed and summarized. The goodness of the linear analysis is verified by the digital computer simulations using both the linear and nonlinear mathematical models.

전자비례감압밸브를 이용한 가변용량형 유압펌프의 다기능 제어 (Multi-function Control of Hydraulic Variable Displacement Pump with EPPR Valve)

  • If hydraulic pump controlled by mechanical type regulator has more than one control function, the construction of regulator will be very complicated and control performance falls drastically. It is difficult to have more than one control function for hydraulic pump controlled by electronic type hydraulic valve due to the inconsistency of controllers. This paper proposes a multi-function control technique which controls continuously flow, pressure and power by using EPPR(Electronic Proportional Pressure Reducing) valve in swash plate type axial piston pump. Nonlinear mathematical model is developed from the continuity equation for the pressurized control volume and the torque balance for the swash plate motion. To simplify the model we make the linear state equation by differentiating the nonlinear model. A reaction spring is installed in servo cylinder to secure the stability of the control system. We analyze the stability and disturbance by using the state variable model. Finally, we review the control performances of flow, pressure and power by tests using PID controller.

  • This paper describes of a mathematical and real experimental analysis for a walking robot which uses servo valve driven hydraulic actuator. Recently, many researchers are developing a walking robot based on hydraulic systems for the difficult and dangerous missions such as walking in the rough terrain and carrying a heavy load. In order to design and control a walking robot, the characteristics of the hydraulic actuators in the joint through the view point of walking such as controllability and backdrivability must be analyzed. A general mathematical model was used for analysis and proceeds to position and pressure changes characteristic of the input and backdrivability experiment. The result shows the actuator is a velocity source, had a high impedance, the output stiffness is high in contact with the rigid external force. So stand above the controller and instruments that complement the design characteristics can be seen the need to apply a hydraulic actuator in walking robot.

  • Control systems using a hydraulic cylinder as an actuator are modeled to a nonlinear system owing to varying of moments and nonlinearities of hydraulic itself. In this paper, we want to control nonlinear hydraulic systems by adopting the fuzzy PID control technique which include nonlinear time varying control parameters. To do this, we propose the design method of fuzzy Pm controller and in order to assure effectiveness of fuzzy PID controller, computer simulations were executed for the control system.
