  • Recently, electronic products and related parts are required to have thin thickness because of small form factor. To go with the trend, LGP(light guide plate) of LCD BLU(Liquid Crystal Display Back light unit: It is one of kernel parts of LCD) for cell phone has the thickness of 0.3 mm and the battery case of cell phone has 0.25 mm. Accordingly, high speed injection molding is required to make products which have thin thickness. High speed injection molding means that the resin is injected into the cavity at higher than normal speed avoiding short shot. In the case of hydro-mechanical high speed injection machine, it requires the design for hydraulic unit to make high injection speed and the design for control unit to control hydraulic unit. In the present paper, we concentrated on the molding stability of hydro-mechanical high speed injection machine to make an LGP of 0.3 mm thickness.

  • Wave overtopping is one of the most important hydraulic responses of breakwater because it significantly affects its functional efficiency, the safety of transit and mooring on the rear side, wave transmission in the sheltered area, rear side armor stones and to some extent, the structural safety itself. In this study, hydraulic model tests has been carried out to investigate the influence of berm's size on overtopping rate by maximum overtopping rate and mean overtopping rate. The hydrodynamic characteristics of berm breakwater by the overtopping rate can be summarized as follows: 1. It is better to use maximum overtopping rate than to use mean overtopping rate for design of coastal structures in the point of view of stability. 2. When construct berm to decrease energy of waves that it was needed to make breaking conditions of wave on the berm. 3. Under the relative length of berm was over 0.13 overtopping rate was significantly decreased. 4. Overtopping rate affected significantly by the relative length of yhe berm than height of the berm.

  • For the vibration reliability tests, the jigs for mounting the test specimen on a vibration reliability tester are required. The dynamic stabilities of the jigs should be verified before the tests for obtaining the accurate reliability of the test specimen. This paper proposes an analytical technology for ensuring the dynamic structural stability for the test setup including the jig. The technology includes the mode analyses for checking resonance, the harmonic analyses for evaluating the dynamic structural stability of test setup including the jig, and the fatigue analyses for obtaining the durable reliability time with calculating the life cycles at the area of weakness. The cause investigation of the damaged jig during vibration reliability test of a rubber hose and the design of new revised jig are performed by using the technology. The vibration reliability test for the rubber hose with the new revised jig by analysis results is successfully conducted without any problem. Therefore the jig's design technology proposed in this paper may be useful for other items as well.

  • Phenomena of hydraulic transient such as water hammer should be analyzed to design the pipeline systems effectively in dam. Surge tanks generally are used to reduce change in pressure caused by hydraulic transient from load changes on the turbines. In this study, the appropriate scale of surge tank with chamber is investigated for dam safety management. The variation of water level in the surge tank are computed using governing equation. Using the Thoma-Jaeger's stability condition, static and dynamic stability are investigate for the cases of flood water level, normal high water level, rated water level and low water level. Finally appropriate diameters of shaft and chamber are determined in the surge tank with chamber.

  • Double Plug is constructed for preventing mixing of two different oils between two compartments in the underground oil storage cavern. And the gas and oil tightness of double plug is tested from the measurement of water leakage from double plug after the completion of double plug water filling. If water leakage is underestimated, it can increase construction cost and if water leakage is overestimated, it can increase operating cost. Therefore, optimum water leakage should be estimated to cut down the cost. In this study, hydraulic stability analysis was conducted to consider permeable properties of rock mass around double plugs and a water leak rate from double plug was estimated from the hydraulic stability analysis and case study. Finally, the reliability of estimation of water leak rate was proven by comparing estimated water leak rate with measured data.

  • This paper presents a procedure of calculating a safety factor of the unsaturated slope suffering from the rainfall infiltration. The process of infiltration into a slope due to rainfall and its effect on the behavior of the soil slope are examined by using a two dimensional finite element flow-deformation coupled analysis. A factor of safety is calculated at various elapsed times after the commencement of rainfall as in the following procedure. First, stresses are estimated at each Gaussian point from the coupled finite element analysis. Then, the global stress smoothing method is applied to get a continuous stress field. Based on this stress field, a factor of safety is calculated for a specified slip surface by a stress integration scheme. Then, a search strategy is used to find out a critical slip surface which is associated with the minimum factor of safety. Some numerical examples are analyzed in order to study the effect of hydraulic conductivity on the slope stability during rain-induced infiltration. According to the results, local failure zone can be formed near the slope surface due to inhomogeneous distribution of hydraulic conductivity If the failure zone is once formed, then the region extends until a large amount of slide activates. Therefore the local failure can be neglected no longer in the stability analysis.

  • In this study attempted to evaluate the stability of the protection methods by examining hydraulic characteristics of the area around the point in which marine cable protector is installed such as surf zone occurrence point of shore-end submarine cables suitable for coastal marine environmental conditions, flow rate t the tope of the protector and maximum wave height, and to provide basic data for the selection of the optimal protection method. In performing hydraulic model experiments, the topography of submarine cable installation location was reproduced in 2-D sectional channel, and models appropriate for experimental scale and similitude law were produced and installed for each condition of submarine cables and protectors. Since the topography and submarine cable protectors were reproduced and installed in 2-D sectional channel, the exact reproduction of surf and transformation in shallow water zone was possible, and thus the physical properties could be clearly analyzed. For stability review, an experiment to examine the stability was conducted using a wave maker with 50-year frequency design waves as target, and wave height and cycles were applied based on the approximate lowest low water level(Approx. L.L.W), which is the most dangerous in submarine cable protection methods. As for experimental time, typhoon passing time in summer (about 3 hours) was applied, and wave patterns and deviation ratio of the submarine cable protector were investigated after making irregular waves corresponding to design waves. In addition, current meter and wave height meter were installed at the installation location of the submarine cable protector, and the flow rates and wave height at the top of the protector were measured and analyzed to review hydraulic properties.

  • The application of reinforcing agents with hydraulic property and strength development characteristics was studied under conditions similar to those of mural-painting mortar made with oyster shell powder. Reinforcement mortar made with oyster shell powder showed hydraulic properties and strength to supplement the weaknesses of natural hydraulic lime(NHL); this confirmed its possibility as a wall-reinforcing material with enough strength for preserving mural paintings. Reinforcement mortar 1 showed hydraulic property and general characteristics of lime mortar, such as consistency and viscosity, as well as lower strength and higher whiteness compared to an NHL product. For Reinforcement mortar 2, the original wall sample characteristics were reflected by mixing more shell produced through calcination; and it showed similar strength to that of Reinforcement mortar 1 as well as high whiteness. In measuring the contraction ratio of reinforcement mortar samples, Reinforcement mortar 1 and 2 showed more stability in property change compared to the NHL Group.

  • Hydraulically driven manipulators are superior to electrically driven ones in the power density and electrical insulation. But an electro-hydraulic manipulator using hydraulic actuators has many nonlinear elements, and this parameter fluctuations are greater than those of electrically driven manipulator. So this is relatively difficult to realize not only stable contact work but also accurate force control for the autonomous field task such as the maintenance task of high voltage active electric line or the automatic excavation task by hydraulic excavator. In this report, we propose robust force control algorithm, which can be applied to there real field task such as the construction field, nuclear plant and so on. Proposed force controller has the same structure as that of disturbance observe for position control. The difference between force and position disturbance observer is that the input and output of disturbance observer are forces in the case force disturbance observer and the plant varies much compared to the case of position control. In the design of force disturbance observer, generalized plant is derived and the stabilized filter is designed by H infinity control theory to ensure the robuts t stability even though the stiffness of environment changes from sponge to steel, and the contact surface also changes from flat to round shape. Experimental results show that highly robust force tracking by a 6-link electro-hydraulic manipulator could be achieved under various environment conditions.
