It is widely noted that pressure feedback systems have been devised to damp the fluid resonance effectively in precision speed control-for large inertia system. A compensation technique preserving the natural output disturbance discrimination characteristics at lower frequencies is proposed The load pressure across positive displacement acceleration. The technique involves feeding back load differential pressure, sensed by pressure transducers, though a simple analog compensatory circuit (high pass filter). The effectiveness of the damping is determined by the filter time donstant and loop gain. Nonlinear total hydraulic simulation results verify the possibility of linear model predictions of extending the closed loop bandwidth beyond the uncompensated frequency.
Lately Gun-Jang Harbor has undergone a drastic change in hydraulic characteristics due to newly added harbor protection measures, like a wharf and breakwater. The wharf and breakwater, with a training dike, were constructed to keep enough depth far navigation. They make the plan view of Gun-Jang Harbor semi closed and very elongated, which makes it very vulnerable to seiche. Hence it is an urgent task to unveil the hydraulic characteristics, like seiche, for the optimal operation of the new harbor system. In this study, we numerically analyze the seiche characteristics of Gun-Jang Harbor over the $10-4{\sim}10-3$ Hz frequency range, considering that wind waves due to seasonal winds are the most prevailing during winter in the West sea. As a wave driver, we use Mild Slope Eqs. and numerically integrate these using FEM based on Galerkin weak formulation. It turns out that the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th eigen models are over 0.0009 Hz, 0.0013 Hz, 0.0017 Hz and 0.002 Hz.
This paper describes the vibration characteristics of a high head pump-turbine runner. with nine blades and an outer diameter of 4.410 mm. of the pumped storage power plant. Mode shapes and natural frequencies were obtained by means of both the finite element analysis and modal testing. both in air and in water. The natural frequencies in air were calculated using the finite element method by ANSYS software. In order to confirm calculation results. the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the runner were measured using a hydraulic exciter both in air and in water. Natural frequencies of the pump-turbine runner were found at 174. 310 Hz in air, and at 107. 184 Hz in water. The first mode shape is flat plate mode with two nodal diameter and the second one is also flat plate mode with three nodal diameter. It can be shown that the natural frequencies of the pump-turbine runner in water is reduced approximately 40 % due to additional mass effect. Natural frequencies in air predicted by ANSYS software are in good agreement with test results.

This paper explains the fatigue test procedure of a composite train carbody. The composite carbody with length of 23m was manufactured as a sandwich structure composed of a 40mm-thick aluminium honeycomb core and 5mm-thick woven fabric carbon/epoxy face. In order to evaluate fatigue strength of the composite carbody, the carbody will be excited by two 50-ton capacity hydraulic actuators. The excitation frequency will be measured by natural frequency evaluation test under full weight condition. The test The fatigue test is to be conducted For $2{\times}10^6$cycles. During the fatigue test, the nondestructive tests using X-ray and liquid penetrant will be performed. From crack detection tests, the location and Fatigue crack progress will be investigated.
In this study, the flow characteristic analysis at the curved-channel of the actual channel section is compared and reviewed using the 2D RMA-2 model and the 3D FLOW-3D model. the curve section with curve rate 1.044 in the research section is analyzed applying the frequency of he project flood of 100 years. According to the result, the issue for the application of the FLOW-3D Model's three-dimensional numeric analysis result to the actual river is found to be reviewed with caution. Also, application of the 3D model to the wide basin's flood characteristic is determined to be somewhat risky. But, the applicability to the hydraulic property analysis of a partial channel section and the impact analysis and forecast of hydraulic structure is presumed to be high. In addition, if the parameters to reflect the vegetation of basin and the actual channel, more accurate topological measurement data and the topological data with high closeness to the current status are provided, the result with higher reliability is considered to be drawn.
This paper presents the improved procedure to assess static and dynamic strength of crawler type excavators. A fully integrated model including front attachment and chassis was prepared for structural analysis. In this paper, two types of loading input methods were investigated and the method imposing digging force directly on bucket tooth was more convenient than imposing cylinder reaction force on cylinder pin even if the two methods showed no discrepancy in analysis results. Static strength analysis was carried out for eight analysis scenarios based on two extreme digging positions, maximum digging reach position and maximum digging force positions. The results from static strength analysis were compared with measured stresses, cylinder pressures and digging forces and showed a good quantitative agreement with measured data. Dynamic strength analysis was carried out for simple reciprocation of boom cylinders. It was recognized that the effect of compressive stiffness of hydraulic oil was very important for dynamic structural behavior. The results from dynamic strength analysis including hydraulic oil stiffness were also compared with measured acceleration data and showed a qualitative agreement with measured data.

Along with climate change, it is reported that the scale and the frequency of extreme climate events (e.g. heavy rain, typhoon, etc.) show unstable tendency of increase. In case of Korea, also, the frequency of heavy rainfall shows increasing tendency, thus causing natural disaster damage in downtown and agricultural areas by rainfall that exceeds the design criteria of hydraulic structures. In order to minimize natural disaster damage, it is necessary to analyze how extreme precipitation event changes under climate change. Therefore a new design criteria based on non-stationarity frequency analysis is needed to consider a tendency of future extreme precipitation event and to prepare countermeasures to climate change. And a quantitative and objective characteristic analysis could be a key to preparing countermeasures to climate change impact. In this study, non-stationarity frequency analysis was performed and inundation risk indices developed by 4 inundation characteristics (e.g. inundation area, inundation depth, inundation duration, and inundation radius) were assessed. The study results showed that future probable rainfall could exceed the existing design criteria of hydraulic structures (rivers of state: 100yr-200yr, river banks: 50yr-100yr) reaching over 500yr frequency probable rainfall of the past. Inundation characteristics showed higher value in the future compared to the past, especially in sections with tributary stream inflow. Also, the inundation risk indices were estimated as 0.14 for the past period of 1973-2015, and 0.25, 0.29, 1.27 for the future period of 2016-2040, 2041-2070, 2071-2100, respectively. The study findings are expected to be used as a basis to analyze future inundation damage and to establish management solutions for rivers with inundation risks.

The present study proposes a time domain model for the Vortex-induced Vibration (VIV) simulation of a catenary riser under the combination of the current and oscillatory flow induced by vessel motion. In this model, the hydrodynamic force of VIV comprises excitation force, hydrodynamic damping and added mass, which are taken as functions of the non-dimensional frequency and amplitude ratio. The non-dimensional frequency is related with the response frequency, natural frequency, lock-in range and the fluid velocity. The relatively oscillatory flow induced by vessel motion is taken into account in the fluid velocity. Considering that the added mass coefficient and the non-dimensional frequency can affect each other, an iterative analysis is conducted at each time step to update the added mass coefficient and the natural frequency. This model is in detail validated against the published test models. The results show that the model can reasonably reflect the effect of the added mass coefficient on the VIV, and can well predict the riser's VIV under stationary and oscillatory flow induced by vessel motion. Based on the model, this study carries out the VIV simulation of a catenary riser with harmonic vessel motion. By analyzing the bending moment near the touchdown point, it is found that under the combination of the ocean current and oscillatory flow the vessel motion may decrease the VIV response, while increase the excited frequencies. In addition, the decreasing rate of the VIV under vessel surge is larger than that under vessel heave at small vessel motion velocity, while the situation becomes opposite at large vessel motion velocity.
The spool displacement signal of a directional control valve, including the servo valve, can be considered as the standard signal to measure dynamic characteristics. When the spool displacement signal is not available, the velocity signal of a metering cylinder piston can be used. In this study, the frequency response characteristics of the metering cylinder are investigated for the spool displacement input. The transfer functions of the servo valve-metering system are derived taking into consideration the oil inertia effect in the transmission lines. The theoretical results of the transfer functions are verified through computer simulations and experiments. The oil inertia effect in the transmission lines was found to have a very significant effect on the bandwidth frequency of the servo valve-metering cylinder system. In order to more precisely measure the dynamic characteristics of a servo valve, the metering cylinder should be set up to minimize the oil inertia effect by increasing the inner diameters of the transmission lines or shortening their lengths.
The power train of a concrete truck mixer reducer includes differential planetary gears to get a large reduction ratio for operating the mixer drum in a compact structure. These differential planetary gears are a very important part of the mixer reducer where strength problems are the main concern. Gear bending stress, gear compressive stress and scoring failure are the main concerns. Many failures in differential planetary gears are due to the insufficient gear strength and resonance problems caused by major excitation forces such as gear mating failure in the transmission. In the present study, where the excitation frequencies are the gear tooth passing frequencies of the mating gears, a Campbell diagram is used to calculate differential planetary gear critical speeds. Mode shapes and natural frequencies of the differential planetary gears are calculated by CATIA V5. These are used to predict gear resonance failures by comparing the working speed range with the critical speeds due to the gear transmission errors of the differential planetary gears.
