  • There is a continuous development of the most common welding processes like MMA, MIG/MAG, PAW and SAW. At the same time there is a conversion from stick electrodes to solid and cored wires with an increased productivity as a result. In parallel with these changes new processes are introduced and implemented. The number of Friction Stir Welding installations is starting to grow fast Hybrid laser welding has probably made a technical break through. The Magnetic Pulse Welding process is taking off. The different mechanical joining methods; clinching and self-piercing riveting; must not be forgotten. Structural adhesive is another method to consider.

조선용 강판 AH36의 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접시 맞대기 용접 특성 (Butt Weldability of Shipbuilding Steel AH36 Using Laser-Arc Hybrid Welding)

  • 본 논문은 두께 10 mm의 조선용 강판 AH36에 대해 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접을 사용하여 원패스 관통용접을 실시함으로써 실제 조선 산업에서의 생산성 향상을 목적으로 연구되었다. 10 mm두께의 후판을 사용하였기 때문에 관통용접을 얻기 위해서는 더욱 높은 레이저 및 아크의 출력이 요구되었다. 그러나 보다 더 증가된 레이저 및 아크 출력의 사용은 비드 양단에 언더컷과 같은 결함을 야기하였다. 이러한 언더컷은 노치로 작용하여 용접 구조물의 강도를 약화시키므로 반드시 방지되어야하며, 본 실험에서는 아크의 변수인 용접 전압 및 펄스컬렉션을 조절함으로써 제어할 수 있었다. 용접된 시험편의 기계적 특성을 파악하기 위해 레이저 영역 및 아크 영역에 대해 경도 측정을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 열영향부는 조직의 변태로 인해 최대 경도가 용접부보다 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 미세조직 관찰 결과, 열영향부는 마르텐사이트 및 베이나이트와 같은 경한 조직으로 구성되어 있는 것을 알 수 있었다.

세립강 저입열 용접부의 기계적 성질 (Mechanical properties of fine grained steel weldments formed with low heat input)

  • Low heat input welding methods have been investigated in order to minimize the HAZ softening of the 600MPa grade fine grained steel weldment. The welding processes of interest were a high speed FCA welding with a multi-torch welding system, laser welding with filler feeding and hybrid laser welding. No HAZ softening was found for all the weldments formed with low heat input less than 10kJ/cm. Tensile strength of the weldments was high enough to satisfy the required value. Impact toughness of the weldments was also good even at -20$^{\circ}C$.

  • Grey relational analysis has been carried out to develop a new approach for optimization of Nd:YAG laser and MIG hybrid welding parameters. The quality of welded material depends on welding parameters. The parameters chosen for current study include wire type, shielding gas, laser energy, laser focus, traveling speed, and wire feed rate. The welding experiments were performed on 6K21-T4 aluminum alloy sheet. Functional demands on products may vary widely depending on their use. The ultimate tensile stress, width, and penetration were chosen as the optimization criterion. Practice based on an orthogonal array which is following Taguchi's method has been progressed. Base on the results of grey relational analysis, the optimal process parameters were obtained. This integrated work was judged and it is observed that the results obtained by using the optimal parameters are much improved compared to those obtained through initial setting.

조선용강재의 레이저-아크 하이브리드 용접금속부 충격인성에 미치는 용접변수의 영향 (Effects of Hybria Welding Parameters on the Toughness of Weld Metal in Ship Structural Steel)

  • Since the 1990's, European shipbuilding industries introduced hybrid welding process in order to decrease thermal distortion of welded joints in passenger shipbuilding. In this study, we investigated effects of hybrid welding parameters on the toughness of weld metal using DH36 steel in order to obtain more sound welds in passenger shipbuilding. Type of leading process, joint gap distance and chemical composition of consumables were considerably correlated with the toughness of weld metal. Especially, the toughness was considerably increased with high-Ti containing consumables. In addition, hybrid welding speed increased by using plasma cut edges, the oxides layer of which increased absorption efficiency of laser beam.
