  • The effects of the moisture and thermal annealing on CLBO crystal have been investigated. CLBO has hydrated at high humidity condition, resulting in 5B$_2$O$_3$$.$Cs$_2$O$.$8H$_2$O. The surface hydration seems to induce the cracking and the refractive index change in CLBO. The thermal annealing is effective to restore the changed index.

토굴을 이용한 생강저장의 사회 경제적 투자효과 분석 - 서산지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on Socio-economic Investment Effects of Ginger Storage in Artificial Caves (In the Case of Seochun Districts in Chungnam Province))

  • This study is aimed at identifying the socio-economic effects of storage of ginger in artificial caves. The gingers stored in artificial caves in Seochun, 12 sampled areas, were surveyed to get information on the socio-economic effects. The surveyed data were processed by TSP, Qbasic and B/C Ratio computer programs and analyzed the decision making criteria such as B/C ratio, NPV and IRR. The socio-economic effects of the storages of the gingers are as follows. 1. The storage benefits per ton was showed as 184,050won. 2. Considering 10% of the opportunity cost of capital, the uper limits of investments for the cave storages was analyzed as 6,784 thousand won for ginger. 3. The investment of the natural cave storages was revealed economically feasible considering the decision making criteria as B/C ratio = 1.33, NPV = 35.059 thousand won and IRR = more than 100%. The other socio-economic effects of the ginger storages was expected as ; 1. The cave storages will contribute to increase consumer's and producer's welfare through the control of supply and demand and price stability. 2. Long-term storage of ginger without damaging quality and grades will be made on account of the storage conditions as relatively low temperature, high humidity and indifferent affects from the outside climate. 3. Utilization of the underground space, the caves, for storage will maximize the land use and the sustainable environment considering the mountainous area, two third of the total national land area. 4. Construction costs of the underground storage facilities as caves are cheaper than the ground storage facilities by 15 to 20% in general. In conclusion, the underground space like natural and artificial caves are considered the most suitable for storage of ginger on account of the storage conditions as temperature, humidity and blocking the sun light. Accordingly a study on convenient utilization of new development of artificial caves should be made considering transportation and input-output of the farms. Financial support of the government should be institutionally rearranged for the successful implementation of storing farm products like ginger in natural and man-made caves.

남한의 연 누적 온습도 지수에 따른 생리기후유형의 특성 (The Characteristics of Bioclimatic Types According to Annual Cumulative Temperature-Humidity Index in South Korea)

  • 본 논문에서는 인간 생활에 기본이 되는 온도, 상대습도를 기초로 하여 인간의 온열감을 측정하여 남한의 온열감 분포의 특성과 기후유형을 파악하였다. 연구 방법은 설문지 검사를 통하여 온습도 지수 공식을 이용, 월별 온열감, 연 누적 온열감 지수를 계산하였다. 월별 온열감 지수 분석 결과 온열감의 지역적 차이는 위도 및 고도, 지형적 요인, 기단체계에 따른 영향으로 나타났다. 연 누적 온열감 지수분포는 대체로 남쪽에서 북쪽으로 갈수록, 해안에서 내륙으로 갈수록 기후 스트레스가 증가하였다. 이러한 원인으로 겨울의 추위 스트레스와 여름의 더위 스트레스가 높기 때문에 나타나는 현상으로 사료된다. 연 생리 기후유형은 쾌적함(M)기후유형, 극히 무더움(ES)유형, 쾌적함-극히 무더움(M-ES)유형, 쾌적함-무더움(M-S)유형, 더움-극히 무더움(W-ES)유형, 서늘함-극히 무더움(C-ES)유형, 서늘함-쾌적함(C-M)유형, 서늘함-쾌적함-극히 무더움(C-M-ES)유형으로 도합 8개의 기후유형으로 구분된다.

동결건조 시스템에서 동결속도가 향미물질 보존에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Freezing Rate on the Aroma Retention in a Freeze Drying System)

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of freezing rate on aroma retention and to examine the mechanism of aroma retention during freeze drying process. Our experiments were carried out with self-manufactured freeze-dryer. Gelatin gels (2% w / w, 80${\times}$20mm) containing diacetyl(2mg/ml) were frozen unidirectionally (Neumann's model) from the bottom at -45, -30, -20, and -15$^{\circ}C$ and followed with freeze-drying. Under the upper conditions we measured freezing rate and the change of temperature and pressure during freeze drying. Freeze-dried gelatins were cut horizontally into 5 mm thickness from the bottom measured and diacetly contents. Besides, we observed the effect of the relative humidity of the diacetyl contents freeze-dried gelatin during storage. The retained diacetyl content was increased at high freezing temperature and in order of 0∼5, 5∼10, 10∼15, 15∼20 mm section from the bottom of the sample. It was observed that the retained diacetyl content was high in 15∼20 mm section. The retained diacetyl content and freeze-dried gelatin stored in the condition of high relative humidity was decreased significantly but in the low relative humidity case, was it decreased in small amount. The results of our experiment resents that the low temperature freezing and low humidity storing condition is effective for preserving aroma compound in food.

Influence of Different Environmental Conditions on Cocoon Parameters and Their Effects on Reeling Performance of Bivoltine Hybrids of Silkworm, Bombyx mori. L.

  • Three newly authorized bivoltine silkworm hybrids namely, $CSR2{\times}CSR4$ (productive single hybrid), $(CSR6{\times}CSR26){\times}(CSR2{\times}CSR27)$ (productive double hybrid) and $CSR18{\times}CSR19$ (robust single hybrid) were chosen for the present study. These hybrids were subjected to different temperature and humidity treatments i.e., $25{\pm}$1^{\circ}C and RH $65{\pm}5%$ (control), $30{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, with combinations of low relative humidity (RH $65{\pm}5%$) and high RH ($85{\pm}5%$) at different stages during rearing and spinning of silkworm larvae. The larvae of after 3rd moult were subjected to different thermal and humidity stress till the assessment of cocoon traits. The comparative rearing and reeling performance clearly indicated that the deleterious effect of high temperature and high RH was more pronounced for the majority of traits such as cocoon uniformity, cocoon weight, shell weight, shell percentage, reelability, filament length, raw silk percentage raw silk recovery denier and waste percentage on silk weight than other temperature and RH treatments and this effect was almost similar for all three silkworm hybrids studied. The present investigation clearly indicate that the deleterious effect of high temperature and high RH was more pronounced on rearing and spinning of silkworm larvae than other temperature and RH treatments and similar effect was noticed for all the three silkworm hybrids studied. The cocoon characters can be improved by providing ideal environmental conditions even during spinning stage of larvae affected with high temperature and RH. The study also suggest that high temperature and low humidity has greater effect during rearing stage than spinning stage.

저장습도가 온주밀감의 저장에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Humidity on the Storage Life of Satsuma Mandarin)

  • 제주산 궁천조생 온주밀감의 저장효과를 검토하기 위하여 저장 중 각각 $3^{circ}C$, 90%와 85% 상대습도에서 저온저장하였으며, 습도 조절이 안된 상온저장과 비교하였다. 중량감소는 저장 98일까지 각각 90% 습도에서는 3.40%, 85% 습도에서는 6.92%, 상온저장에서는 11.87%로서 습도가 높을수록 중량감소는 적었다. 그러나 90% 습도에서 저장한 감귤은 저장 98일 이후 부패율이 3.87%에서 급격히 증가하여 126일에 48.75%에 이르렀다. 과육율과 가용성고형물은 저장기간 중 큰 변화를 보이지 않았다. 경도는 저장 중 계속하여 감소하였고, 특히 상온저장에서 감소가 심하였다. 산 함량과 비타민 C 변화는 호흡작용에 의해 저장기간이 경과함에 따라 계속하여 감소하였다. 상온저장에서는 저온저장에 비해 착색이 계속 진행됨을 알 수 있었다. 관능평가와 내용성분을 기준한다면 품질 유지를 위해서는 $3^{circ}C$, 85% 상대습도에서 수확후 100일 정도가 조생온주 밀감의 최적 저장기간으로 판단되었다.

쾌적 환경에서 헤어스타일 유형이 인체 생리 반응에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Hair Style on Human Physiological Response in a Thermal Neutral Environment)

  • Recently, research on variables associated with hair styles are increasing with the spreading of total coordinated intention in the fields of clothing and cosmetology. In the present study, we focused on examining the skin temperature on the scalp(the vertex, temporal, and occiput), humidity on the occiput, skin temperatures (the forehead, back of ear, back of neck, upper back, abdomen, forearm, hand, thigh, calf, and foot), rectal temperature, total body mass loss by hair styles in a thermal neutral environment. Four young females participated as subjects. For a certain period, each subject had the five different hair styles in a random order: (1)Straight short hair(SS), (2)Perm waved short hair(PS), (3) Straight long hair(SL), (4)Perm waved long hair(PL), (5)Ponytail style(PT). Subjects wore briefs, bra, shirts with long sleeves, long legged training pants, and socks. The environmental variables of a climatic chamber were kept constant at $21{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$ of air temperature and 55${\pm}$5%RH of air humidity. The results indicated the following: The skin temperature and humidity on the scalp did not show any significant differences among five different hair styles, but straight long hair style(SL)was the highest on the vertex, temporal, and occiput. The temporal skin temperature($29.8\sim30.8^{\circ}C$) was the highest, while the vertex skin temperature($28.7\sim30.1^{\circ}C$) was the lowest. Humidity on the occiput was the highest in the perm waved long hair style(PL). The back of ear skin temperature was significantly lower in the ponytail style(PT) than in the other four hair styles(p<.001). In the straight long hair style(SL), the skin temperature on the back of the neck and on the upper back were significantly higher than those of the other four hair styles(p<.01). Mean skin temperature and rectal temperature had no significant differences among hair styles. Total body mass was the highest in the perm waved long hair style(PL)(p<.05). We acquired fundamental data to enable the improvement of the current hair clinic system, wigs, functional hats, and helmets.

Impact of Seasonal Conditions on Quality and Pathogens Content of Milk in Friesian Cows

  • Heat stress negatively affects milk quality altering its nutritive value and cheese making properties. This study aimed at assessing the impact of seasonal microclimatic conditions on milk quality of Friesian cows. The study was carried out in a dairy farm from June 2013 to May 2014 at Beni-Suef province, Egypt. Inside the barn daily ambient temperature and relative humidity were recorded and used to calculate the daily maximum temperature-humidity index (mxTHI), which was used as indicator of the degree of heat stress. The study was carried out in three periods according to the temperature-humidity index (THI) recorded: from June 2013 to September 2013 (mxTHI>78), from October 2013 to November 2013 (mxTHI 72-78) and from December 2013 to April 2014 (mxTHI<72). Eighty Friesian lactating dairy cows were monitored in each period. The three groups of cows were balanced for days in milk and parity. Milk quality data referred to somatic cell count, total coliform count (TCC), faecal coliform count (FCC), Escherichia coli count, percentage of E. coli, and Staphylococcus aureus, percentage of fat, protein, lactose, total solid and solid non-fat. Increasing THI was associated with a significant decrease in all milk main components. An increase of TCC, FCC, and E. coli count from mxTHI<72 to mxTHI>78 was observed. In addition, the isolation rate of both S. aureus and E. coli increased when the mxTHI increased. The results of this study show the seriousness of the negative effects of hot conditions on milk composition and mammary gland pathogens. These facts warrant the importance of adopting mitigation strategies to alleviate negative consequences of heat stress in dairy cows and for limiting related economic losses.

Girdle 착용이 인체생리반응과 의복기후에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Physiological Responses and the Microclimate in Girdle)

  • The purpose of this study was to confirm the effects of girdle on the physiological responses and the microclimate in summer. The measuring points were rectal temperature, skin temperature, pulse rate and sweat volume as physiological responses and the inside clothing temperature, relative humidity as microclimate when the subjects wore girdle (girdle A; polyurethan+nylon, girdle B; polyurethan+cotton) for the period of rest and exercise in climate chamber. The enviromental conditions were at $25^{\circ}C$ ($65{\pm}5\%$ RH) and $30^{\circ}C$ ($75{\pm}5\%$ RR). The results were as followings. 1. Mean skin temperature increased in girdle during the exercise at $30^{\circ}C$. 2. The pulse rate decreased in girdle during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$. In the case of girdle A, it was remarkably decreased. Rectal temperature increased in girdle A and B during the exercise at $25^{\circ}C$. But the kinds of girdle didn't affect the pulse rate and rectal temperature. 3. The total sweat volume in girdle was larger than in control. 4. The difference between skin temperature and inside clothing temperature of abdomen had a tendency to increase at all experiment condition. 5. The relative humidity of inside ($RH_1$) and outside ($RH_2$) of girdle increased in girdle during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. And the relative humidity of wearing girdle B was hig-her than girdle A during the rest at $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$. The $RH_1$ after stepping at $30^{\circ}C$ was the highest in girdle A and the lowest in control. From this point of view, we concluded that physiological responses and the microclimate were affected by wearing girdle. And mean skin temperature and relative humidity of inside clothing were affected by the materials of girdle.

공정온도와 상대습도가 소시지 쿠킹시간에 미치는 영향 및 쿠킹시간 예측모델 (Effects of Processing Temperature and Relative Humidities on the Sausage Cooking Time and Prediction Models of Cooking Time)

  • 소시지의 세조공정 중의 주 공정인 쿠킹공정에서 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 인자는 쿠킹온도와 상대습도이다. 따라서 쿠킹공정에서 에너지의 효율성을 높이기 위해 상기 인자와 소시지 직경의 변화에 따른 쿠킹시간을 측정하여 쿠킹시간 예측모델식을 수립하였다. 또한 쿠킹 전후의 일반성분 분석과 중량변화 및 각 온도와 상대습도에서의 TPA 분석을 하였다. 쿠킹시간 예측모델식을 SPSS computer program을 이용하여 가장 오차가 적은 범위에서의 예측모델식을 얻었다. 쿠킹시간 예측모델식을 쿠킹온도와 상대습도와 소시지 직경에 대한 각각의 함수관계를 Scattergram을 작성하여 R-square값을 가장 높은 함수를 취하여 각각의 모델식을 수립한 후 독립변수와의 관계를 종합하여 예측값을 구할 수 있는 최종적인 예측모델식을 수립하였다. 또한 소시지 직경 1.5cm에 대한 쿠킹 동안 중량변화는 온도와 상대습도가 적게 소모되어 소시지의 중량변화가 적게 일어남을 알 수 있었다. 물성치를 측정해 본 결과 온도와 상대습도의 변화에 따른 경도와 응집력의 값은 크게 변화가 일어났으나 반면에 탄성과 저작성의 값은 그 변화가 다소 적게 일어남을 알 수 있었다.
