  • This paper aims to analyse and appraise the effect of human performance to the variation of quality through constructing the dynamic recursive control model considering the human factor in a single production system. The model studied in this paper has a great advance from the point of combinating three technologies(quality control, automatic control theory, human engineering) and can also be expanded in several applications.

  • The immune system is not fully developed in human neonates and infants; breastfeeding is important in this stage as the bioactive components of human breast milk are known to have anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory effects, and can therefore contribute to an infant's immunity against allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory bowel disease. Herein, the positive effect on the immune system by human colostrum and milk are reviewed.

  • The purpose of this research is to develop the Human-centered CAD system in which human factors can be considered during the design stage. For this system there are several issues to research, like the digital human modeling technology, the definition of interactions between human and product, the simulation of human motion when using the product, and the bio-mechanical analysis of human, etc. This paper introduces how to construct the kinematical structure of the digital human model. For our digital human model H-ANIM, the international specification of humanoid animation is referenced. And we added the skeleton geometry and the skin surfaces to our model. And it can manipulate its joints by forward kinematics. Also the IKAN inverse kinematics algorithm is adopted to support the posture prediction of the digital human model in the product environment. All of these ideas are implemented using CAD API so that we can apply these functions to the current commercial CAD systems. In this manner, the human factor issues can be effectively taken into account at the early design phase and the costs of bio-mechanical evaluation will be significantly reduced.

  • When a human operator interacts with a virtual wall that is modeled as a virtual spring model, the lager the stiffness of the virtual spring is, the more realistic the operator feels that the virtual wall is. In the previous studies, it is shown that the maximum available stiffness of a virtual spring to guarantee the stability can be increased when the first-order-hold method is applied, however the effects of a human impedance on the stability are not considered. This paper presents the effects of a human impedance on stability of haptic system with a virtual spring and a first-order-hold (FOH) method. The human impedance model is modeled as a linear second-order system model. The relations between the maximum available stiffness of a virtual spring and the human impedance such as a mass, a damping and a stiffness are analyzed through the MATLAB simulation. It is shown that the maximum available stiffness is proportional to the square root of the human mass or damping respectively.

  • Accident analyses are used to identify common factors contributing to occupational accidents and to give recommendations for accident prevention. In this study we developed a human error analysis system that can be used easily at the industries. This accident analysis system can be used to develop accident prevention programs to reduce human initiated accidents.

  • This study deals with the investigation of recognition structure on architectural environment and reconstruction of it by artificial intelligence. To test the possibility of the reconstruction, recognition structure on architectural environment is analysed and each steps of the structure are matched with computational methods. Edge Detection and Neural Network were selected as matching methods to each steps of recognition process. Visual perception system established by selected methods is trained and tested, and the result of the system is compared with that of experiment of human. Assuming that the artificial system resembles the process of human recognition on architectural environment, does the system give similar response of human? The result shows that it is possible to establish artificial visual perception system giving similar response with that of human when it models after the recognition structure and process of human.

  • This paper presents the interactive behavior modeling method based on POMDP (Partially Observable Markov Decision Process) for HRI (Human-Robot Interaction). HRI seems similar to conversational interaction in point of interaction between human and a robot. The POMDP has been popularly used in conversational interaction system. The POMDP can efficiently handle uncertainty of observable variables in conversational interaction system. In this paper, the input variables of the proposed conversational HRI system in POMDP are the input information of sensors and the log of used service. The output variables of system are the name of robot behaviors. The robot behavior presents the motion occurred from LED, LCD, Motor, sound. The suggested conversational POMDP-based HRI system was applied to an emotional robot KIBOT. In the result of human-KIBOT interaction, this system shows the flexible robot behavior in real world.

  • In this paper, we develop a human error-free wire connection guide system. The only related work is Japanese patent by Hitachi. The patent is guiding the wire connection using PC server. And no implementation details have been reported publicly. We propose a new method based on smart mobile devices. The proposed methods are registered as two Korean patents. We implement a prototype wire connection guide system to verify the patents. Through human experiments, we verify the system can reduce the human error more than 90% and speed up the connection process more than twice faster than working without the system. To be used in the industrial fields, the prototype system needs more product packaging works.

  • The demand of image compression is increasing now for the integration of medical images into the hospital information system. Even though the quantitative distortion can be measured from the difference between original and reconstructed images, it doesn't include the nonlinear characteristics of human visual system. In this study, we have evaluated the nonlinear characteristics of human visual system and applied them to the compression of medical images. The distortion measures which reflect the characteristics of human visual system has been considered. This image compression procedure consists of coding scheme using JND (Just Noticeable Difference) curve, polynomial approximation and BTC (Block Truncation Coding). Results show that this method can be applied to CT images, scanned film images and other kinds of medical images with the compression ratio of 5-10:1 without any noticeable distortion.

  • Tendencies such as the increasing spread of market globalization, new technological developments, the reduction of product life cycles and aggressive competition, are generating high levels of environmental changes and uncertainty for organizations of all types. these circumstances require rapid responses through adaptation of organizational attitudes and capabilities, which lead to innovative management approaches and organizational methods. Human resource management researchers have struggled to elaborate the underlying mechanism explaining how human resource systems relate to organizational performance after universalistic perspectives were supported by a majority of studies investigating the positive relationship between human resource management system and firm performance. To fill the void, hypotheses in this study predicted human resource flexibility that would mediate the relationship between human resource management system and firm performance. The research model among the variables in this study was as follows: These theoretical models were tested with a sample of 138 firms in Korea. The analysis of data was undertaken by using AMOS. The Summary of the verification results is follows: Firstly, most of human resource management system and human resource flexibility had positive effects on human resource performance Secondly, most of human resource management system and human resource flexibility had positive effects on firm's financial performance Thirdly, human resource flexibility had mediated the relationship between human resource management system and firm performance The results of the present research may be demonstrated that organizations or managers could achieve a high level of management practices that lead to firm performance by enabling human resource to be flexible through high performance human resource management system.
