Objectives The aim of this study is to develop a cardiovascular simulator that can reproduce blood pressure pulse and blood flow similar to those of the human body. Methods In order to design a system similar to the human cardiovascular system, the required performances were determined by investigating the hemodynamic characteristics of the heart and the arterial system. Main organ to be imitated is heart in simulator. The rest of the system was minimally designed. Also, a blood pressure and blood flow measurement system was developed for measuring the results. Results The developed system showed blood pressure pulse at similar range of the human aorta. The result waveform include primary wave caused by ventricular systole except reflected wave. Conclusions The blood pressure and blow flow patterns were replicated by the simulator. These patterns were similar to those of the human body. The system will play an important role in studying pulse diagnostics.
Human hepatocytes, with complete hepatic metabolizing enzymes, transporters and cofactors, represent the gold standard for in vitro evaluation of drug metabolism, drug-drug interactions, and hepatotoxicity. Successful cryopreservation of human hepatocytes enables this experimental system to be used routinely. The use of human hepatocytes to evaluate two major adverse drug properties: drug-drug interactions and hepatotoxicity, are summarized in this review. The application of human hepatocytes in metabolism-based drug-drug interaction includes metabolite profiling, pathway identification, P450 inhibition, P450 induction, and uptake and efflux transporter inhibition. The application of human hepatocytes in toxicity evaluation includes in vitro hepatotoxicity and metabolism-based drug toxicity determination. A novel system, the Integrated Discrete Multiple Organ Co-culture (IdMOC) which allows the evaluation of nonhepatic toxicity in the presence of hepatic metabolism, is described.
The process of human information transmission system is one of the foundation characters of energy transmission system on human. If energy transmission has not happened on human that human cannot react anything about everything. Therefore, to know about the system of human information transmission is a study to get basic information to explain a lot of things for human. This study deals with human reaction speed according to display signals of each color, and the result will be analyzed to apply to the design switches for various machines.
Objective: The aim of this study is to develop a distributed representative human model(DRHM) generation and analysis system. Background: DRHMs are used for a product with multiple-size categories such as clothing and shoes. It is not easy for a product designer to explore an optimal sizing system by applying various distributed methods because of their complexity and time demand. Method: Studies related to DRHM generation were reviewed and the RHM generation interfaces of three digital human model simulation systems(Jack$^{(R)}$, RAMSIS$^{(R)}$, and CATIA Human$^{(R)}$) were reviewed. Results: DRHM generation steps are implemented by providing sophisticated interfaces which offer various statistical techniques and visualization methods with ease. Conclusion: The DRHM system can analyze the multivariate accommodation percentage of a sizing system, provide body sizes of generated DRHMs, and visualize generated grids and DRHMs. Application: The DRHM generation and analysis system can be of great use to determine an optimal sizing system for a multiple-size product by comparing various sizing system candidates.
Human Adaptive Mechatronics(HAM) is a new concept which was proposed in our university's research project sponsored by Japanese Ministry of Education, Sports, Culture, Science and Technology(MEXT), and is defined as "intelligent mechanical systems that adapt themselves to the user's skill under various environments, assist to improve the user's skill, and assist the human-machine system to achieve best performance". In this paper, the concept and key-items of HAM are mentioned. And the control strategy to realize a HAM human-machine system is explained in the case of physical-interface system, i.e. haptic system. The proposed assist-control of a force-feedback type haptic system includes online estimation of a operator's control characteristics, and a `force assist' function implemented as a change in the support ratio according to the identified skill level. We developed a HAM-haptic device test system, executed evaluation experiments with this apparatus, and analyzed the measured data. It was confirmed that the operator's skill could be estimated and that operator's performance was enhanced by the assist-control.
Many of the studies of visual attention that are currently underway are seeking ways to make application systems that can be used in practice, and obtained good results using not only simulated images but also real-world images. However, despite that previous studies of selective visual attention are models intended to implement the human vision, few experiments verified the models with actual humans and there is no standardized data nor standardized experimental method for actual images. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new performance evaluation techniques necessary for evaluation of visual attention systems. We developed an evaluation method for evaluating the performance of the visual attention system through comparison with the results of the human experiments on visual attention. Human experiments on visual attention is an experiments where human beings are instinctively aware of the unconscious when images are given to humans. So it can be useful for evaluating performance of the bottom-up attention system. Also we propose a new selective attention system that guides the user to effectively detect ROI regions by using spatial and temporal features adaptively selected according to the input image. We evaluated the performance of proposed visual attention system through the developed performance evaluation method, and we could confirm that the results of the visual attention system are similar to those of the human visual attention.
The rifle impact of human body affected by the posture of human for rifling. The interaction human-rifle system influence the firing accuracy. In this paper, impact analysis of human model for shooting posture is carried out. ADAMS code and LifeMOD is used in impact analysis of human model and modeling of the human body, respectively. On the shooting, human model is affected by rifle impact during the 0.001 second. Performed simulation time for shooting is 0.1 second. Applied constraint condition to human-rifle system is rotating and spherical condition. As the results, the displacement of rifle and transfer path analysis of impact of human model is presented.

Background: A permit to work (PTW) is a formal written system to control certain types of work which are identified as potentially hazardous. However, human error in PTW processes can lead to an accident. Methods: This cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted to estimate the probability of human errors in PTWprocesses in a chemical plant in Iran. In the first stage, through interviewing the personnel and studying the procedure in the plant, the PTW process was analyzed using the hierarchical task analysis technique. In doing so, PTWwas considered as a goal and detailed tasks to achieve the goal were analyzed. In the next step, the standardized plant analysis risk-human (SPAR-H) reliability analysis method was applied for estimation of human error probability. Results: The mean probability of human error in the PTW system was estimated to be 0.11. The highest probability of human error in the PTW process was related to flammable gas testing (50.7%). Conclusion: The SPAR-H method applied in this study could analyze and quantify the potential human errors and extract the required measures for reducing the error probabilities in PTW system. Some suggestions to reduce the likelihood of errors, especially in the field of modifying the performance shaping factors and dependencies among tasks are provided.

The ultra-high definition TV system nicknamed "Super Hi-Vision" is a television system with 4000-scanning-line video and 22.2 multichannel sound. NHK has been developing it with the aim of creating a broadcasting system conveying a strong sensation of presence. We believe that it is important to design the system by taking into account human factors such as human visual system characteristics. This paper describes the psychological and physiological experiments on the visual effects of "Super Hi-Vision".
This paper describes the developement of a Design Issue Management System (DIMS). Although human factors engineering has been recognized as one of the critical activities in the design of man-machine system, it has been hardly successful nor effective in practice to cope with the hyman factors requirements by regulations. For supporting the human factors engineering in nuclear power plants, DIMS ahs three major modules : Design Requirements Data Base, Design Issue Tracking System, Issue Evaluation Support System. These modules function as formal verification architects that the licensing authority requests for verifying the safety of the equip- ment and facilities in nuclear power plants. An example application to an operator support system, named Critical Function Monitoring System, during its independent review of the human factors shows the usage and the benefit of DIMS.
