  • In the past few years, data leakage of information assets has become a prominent social issue. According to the National Industrial Security Center in South Korea, 71 percent who suffer from technology leakage are small and medium sized enterprises. Hence, establishment and operation of ISMS (Information Security Management System) for small and medium sized enterprises become an important issue. Since it is not easy to obtain ISMS certification for a small or medium sized enterprise by itself, consultation with an expert firm in information security is necessary before the security implementation. However, how to select a proper security consulting company for a small or medium sized firm has not been studied yet. In this study, we analyze empirically the selection factors of ISMS certification consulting company for a small or medium sized firm through exploratory factor analysis (EFA). Our study identified the following four important factors in selecting a security consulting company: expertise of the staffs and human resource management proficiency, market leading capability, competence to make progress during the consultation, and the performance and the size of the physical assets and human resources.

  • This paper conducts a qualitative policy analysis of current challenges to safety culture and security culture in Southeast Asia and emerging best practices in Northeast Asia that are aimed at strengthening both cultures. It analyses lessons, including strengths and limitations, that can be derived from Northeast Asian states, given the long history of nuclear energy in South Korea, China and Japan. It identifies and examines best practices from Northeast Asia's Nuclear Security Centres of Excellence in terms of boosting nuclear security culture and their relevance for Southeast Asia. The paper accentuates the important role of the State in adopting policy and regulatory frameworks and in institutionalising nuclear education and training programmes to deepen the safety-security cultures. Best practices in and challenges to developing a nuclear safety culture and a security culture in East Asia are examined using three frameworks of analysis (i) a comprehensive nuclear policy framework; (ii) a proactive and independent regulatory body; and (iii) holistic nuclear education and training programmes. The paper argues that Southeast Asian states interested in harnessing nuclear energy and/or utilising radioactive sources for non-power applications must develop a comprehensive policy framework on developing safety and security cultures, a proactive regulatory body, and holistic nuclear training programmes that cover both technical and human factors. Such measures are crucial in order to mitigate human errors that may lead to radiological accidents and nuclear security crises. Key lessons from Japan, South Korea and China such as best practices and challenges can inform policy recommendations for Southeast Asia in enhancing safety-security cultures.

  • Sensory devices have been developed to help people with disabled or weakened sensory functions. Such devices play a role in collecting and transferring data for the five senses (vision, sound, smell, taste, and tactility) and also stimulating nerves. To provide brain or prosthesis devices with more sophisticated senses, hyper sensory devices with a high resolution comparable to or even better than the human system based on individual neuron cells are essential. As for data collecting components, technologies for sensors with higher resolution and sensitivity, and the conversion of algorithms from physical sensing data to human neuron signals, are needed. Converted data can be transferred to neurons that are responsible for human senses through communication with high security, and neural interfaces with high resolution. When communication deals with human data, security is the most important consideration, and intra-body communication is expected to be a candidate with high priority. To generate sophisticated human senses by modulating neurons, neural interfaces should modulate individual neurons, and therefore a high resolution compared to human neurons (~ several tens of um) with a large area covering neuron cells for human senses (~ several tens of mm) should be developed. The technological challenges for developing sensory devices with human and even beyond-human capabilities have been tackled by various research groups, the details of which are described in this paper.

  • In this research, we describe a security robot system and ongoing research results to control human's wrong direction in order to forbid human to enter security zone. Proposed robot system surveils a security area with equipped laserscanner sensor usually. When it detect walking human who is for the area, robot calculates his velocity vector, plans own path to forestall and interrupts him who want to head restricted area and starts to move along the estimated trajectory. The walking human is assumed to be a point-object and projected onto an scanning plane to form a geometrical constraint equation that provides position data of the human based on the kinematics of the mobile robot. While moving the robot continues these processes for adapting change of situation. After arriving at an opposite position human's walking direction, the robot advises him not to be headed more and change his course. The experimental results of estimating and tracking of the human in the wrong direction with the mobile robot are presented.

To evaluate how the user interface is convenient to use, we examine the components such as the property, learnable property, memory simplicity, faults and satisfaction level. By considering for the security, we should bring positive effects on the user experience. By emphasizing usability and security at the same time, we should increase the satisfaction level of the user experience and then produce the valuable experience through participation, use and observation. The positive user experience is the important task for the software engineering, business administration and others., and this will result satisfaction of the users, brand trust, and success in the market. On the other hand, for the negative user experience, the users cannot achieve their desired goal and therefore, are unsatisfied due to emotional, rational and economic inconvenience. Due to this, we should try to maintain a certain level of usability and security of the system in IT security and User Experience.
