Similarity Evaluation on Images of Textile Print Design for Digital Library (Digital Library를 위한 텍스타일 프린트 디자인의 이미지 유사성 평가)

  • This research focuses on similarity evaluation of images according to tones of images. Color space of images were converted RGB color space into HSI color space. The information entropy criteria has been taken for evaluating similarity of images for digital library. The similarity was then calculated by combining correlation coefficients and information entropy. Those two values are further analyzed with a relation to human sensibility.

An Investigation into the Measured Values of Driver's Subjective and Objective Sensibility Response Stimulated by Different Car Noises (서로 다른 자동차소음에 대한 운전자의 주관적 및 객관적 감성반응 측정치에 관한 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand human sensory and emotional response according to car noise. This study investigated human stress levels from car noise based on the data of electro-encephalogram (EEG) and subjective evaluation analysis data. Since there are few previous works on the effect of car noise on human's reaction, more profound research about the effect of car noise on driver's emotion would be worth performing. Subjects were exposed to five different kinds of car noises. EEG data were collected while the subject was exposed to noise. In order to process EEG data, FFT analysis was used to separate the collected EEG data into ${\alpha}$-wave and ${\beta}$-wave. Also, survey was performed to carry out subjective evaluation. The results of the subjective evaluation were closely correlated to those found in the EEG signal analysis. The results from this study may provide useful information for mitigating car noise induced stress.

Application of Human Sensibility Ergonomics to Design of Restaurant/Cafe Signboard for New Generation (신세대를 위한 간판의 감성공학적 설계 방안)

  • This paper describes study of design specifications of restaurant/cafe signboard for new generation. Signboard is an important element in restaurant/cafe, especially for sensitive new generation, that affects image of and first impression on it. The design elements of a signboard that were chosen for analysis were background color, lettering, and letter color, which were found to have strong influences on impression of signboard in questionnaire survey. Using different combination of these design elements, fifteen samples were created for subjective evaluation. 30 pairs of adjectives which were shown to be related to signboard significantly in the first evaluation were used by fifteen subjects, twelve men and three women. Subjective evaluations were carried out by semantic differential methods, and then analyzed by using multivariate analyses. Among three design elements, the background color affected impression of signboard most significantly. The relationships between design elements (item/category) and subjective impressions were suggested using quantification theory I, which could be used as design guidelines when designing restaurant/cafe signboard with specific human sensibility ergonomic characteristics.

Evaluation of the Texture Image and Preference according to Wool Fiber Blending Ratios and the Characteristics of Men's Suit Fabrics (모섬유의 혼방비율과 직물 특성에 따른 남성 정장용 소재의 질감이미지와 선호도 평가)

  • This research was designed to compare the subjective evaluation of texture image and preference according to fiber blending ratio of men's suit fabrics. 110 subjects evaluated the texture image and preference of various fabrics. For statistical analysis, factor analysis, MDS, pearson correlation and ANOVA were used. The results were as follows: Sensory image factors of suit fabrics were 'smoothness', 'bulkiness', 'stiffness', 'elasticity', 'moistness' and 'weight sensation'. Sensibility image factors were 'classic', 'practical', 'characteristic' and 'sophisticated'. 'Bulkiness' and 'elasticity' sensory images showed high correlations with sensibility images. Fabrics with high wool blending ratio showed as 'classic' and 'sophisticated', 'bulkiness' and 'elasticity' texture images and fabrics with low wool blending ratio showed texture images of 'characteristic', 'surface character', 'stiffness', 'moistness' and 'weight sensation'. Wool fiber blending ratio affected on the purchase preference and tactile preference. Using regression analysis, it was shown that sensibility images had more of an effect on preference than sensory images. The thickness and pattern type showed positive effects and fiber blending ratio showed negative effects on the preference.

  • CNS (Car Navigation System) is the most compatible candidate among various in-vehicle information systems as a provider of ITS (Intelligence Transport Systems) information. It generally consists of remote controller, display, CD-changer, GPS receiver and so on. Among them, display is the most important and critical element of the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) suggesting the digital map to the driver. Therefore, it is certain that the display gives cognitive, physical, mental and visual workloads to the driver which are directly related with the driver's and road safety with the success of ITS. Until now, various human factors techniques have been developed and applied to estimate the driver's workload and to collect the driver's requirements of the CNS digital map, for example, mental workload assessment, visual activity analysis, cognitive analysis and so on. In addition to these kinds of techniques, this research performed the human sensibility ergonomics approach to directly investigate and evaluate the driver's requirements and sensibilities of the real products.

  • Human uses sight, tactile sense to evaluate Total Hand Value(FUUAI) of textile fabrics. Tactile sense is important factor which decided the Total Hand Value of a textile fabric. When human feels the FUUAI, physical and physiological phenomena are occurred in finger. We first found out physical variable that is happened in fingertip when human is feeling the FUUAI. Such physical variable means characteristic of action tactual motion of finger such as moving range, tactile time, moved distance, speed of finger and applied force by finger. We study the relationship between action tactual motion and the ability in which the human distinguishes the textile fabric. As a result, we could know the characteristics of the tactual motion of fingertip to get high distinguishable ability. The characteristics were different in men and women respectively. In the case of man, touched time and moving range influenced to distinguish, and moving range, and the moving speed of finger influenced, in woman's case.

  • As the sensibility engineering has become a mainstream information tool, searching answers has become crucial as well. Because the collaborative filtering refers to partial users information who have the similar preference, it tends to ignore the rest. In this paper, we propose the human sensibility ergonomic apparel coordination supporting method using the genetic algorithm. This proposed method calculates evaluation values using fitness function based the genetic algorithm, and gathers through a-cut. To estimate the performance, the suggested method is compared with the existing methods in the questionnaire dataset. The results have shown that the proposed method significantly outperforms the accuracy than the previous methods.

  • Movies are not only for projecting graphical contents but also for Kansei evaluation that stimulate human beings' sense and emotion in real time. Also, when one views movies or moving images with stories, including movies and dramas, the audience would often be sympathized through various factors of movies, such as performances of actors/actress, graphics, and music, are moved to tears and feel fear. Especially, emotional movement is different from impression and brought about as a result of responding to joy, which is one of the basic emotions of human beings. Moreover, it is suggested that emotion is the most positive aesthetic measurement toward objects. In this study, focusing on emotional movement that is one of many aesthetic reactions in human beings' watching movies, we developed an interface for measuring of emotional changes. The goal of this study is to apply the output of our quantitative analysis on the results of the measurements to the effective designing and production of movies.

  • On the design or development of auto-vehicle, customer's images are strongly related to buying vehicles. I is importantly considered to review detailed specific properties of them. Product design includes functional quality, and aesthetics factors. among these, such as color sense, material of sense, and shape sense, the image of design feeling aesthetics has largely effect on the selling of products. From this point of view, it is not too much to say that the successful development of product is how design of it. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the sensibility of human needs, and apply it to the design of MEVs (Mini Electronic Vehicles).
