저속 후방 추돌에 따른 승객 거동 현상 해석용 모델 개발 (Development of a Model for the Analysis of Occupant Response subjects in Low-Speed Rear-End Collision)

  • Although a number of neck injuries are generated, the data which quantify the kinematic response of the human head and cervical spine in low-speed rear-end automobile collisions is very limited. On this problem, just few in vitro experimental research or some experimental research using dummy on neck injury by rear-end collision was conducted, thus systematic research is requested on full scale injury mechanism. An occupant model for the response of the occupant subject to rear-end collision using commercial dynamics package DADS was developed. Developed model shows more close agreement with the experimental data compared with the MADYMO simulation results for the cases of ${\delta}V=16$ kph in sled test. For the case of ${\delta}V=8$ kph and 33.5 kph with production seat, model also shows its reliable response compared with experimental results using Hybrid III and Hybird III with RID.

Human Papillomavirus Infection and Prognostic Predictors in Patients with Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

  • This study focused on infection rates and subtypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) in patients with oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), and the relationship between HPV status and prognosis of the disease. We evaluated sixty-six OSCC patients who met the enrollment criteria during the period from January 1999 to December 2009. The presence or absence of oncogenic HPV types in tumors was determined using the SPF10 LiPA25 assay. Overall survival (OS) and disease specific survival (DSS) for HPV positive and HPV negative patients were estimated using Kaplan-Meier analysis. The Cox regression model was applied for multivariate analysis. HPV-DNA was detected in 11(16.7%) of all specimens. Among them, 7 were type HPV-16, while other types were HPV-16/11, HPV-35, HPV-58/52, and HPV-33/52/54. Patients with HPV positive tumors were more likely to be female, non-smokers and non-drinkers (p=0.002, 0.001 and 0.001, respectively). After a median follow-up of 24.5 months, patients with HPV positive tumors had significantly better overall survival (HR=0.106[95%CI=0.014-0.787], p=0.016,) and disease specific survival (HR=0.121[95%CI=0.016-0.906], p=0.030). Patients with HPV positive OSCC have significantly better prognosis than patients with HPV negative tumors. HPV infection is an independent prognostic factor.

평면파에 노출된 인체 두부의 전력흡수 해석 (A Study of Power Absorption in Human Head Exposed to Plane Wave)

  • 본 논문에서는 350 MHz와 900 MHz 평면파에 노출된 다양한 모델의 인체 두부 내 비흡수율(specific abs sorption rate, SAR)의 분포를 해석하였다. 해석 방법은 유한차분시간영역(finite-difference time-domain, FDTD) 방법이며, 인체 두부 모델로서 균질 매질의 구형모델, 균질의 실질적인 형태를 갖는 모텔 그리고 실질적인 형태를 갖는 비균질 모델이 사용된다. 입사 평면파의 편파는 인체 길이방향과 일치하며, 진행방향은 뒤에서 암으로, 그리고 앞에서 뒤로 향하는 두 가지 경우를 다룬다. 얻어진 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 세 가지 모델의 평균 SAR은 비슷하나 국부 SAR은 큰 차이가 있다. 2) 주파수가 900 MHz보다 두부의 공진이 일어나는 대역인 350 MHz에서 복사전력이 더 깊이 침투한다. 3) 후방입사 평변파의 경우에는 두부가 아닌 목 부근에서 "hot spot"이 일어난다. 4) 전방입사 평면파의 경우에는 900 MHz에서는 코, 350 MHz의 경우에는 입술 위와 턱 부분에 "hot spot"이 나타난다.

인체 경추부의 유한요소 모델링 (Finite element modeling of human cervical spine)

  • Human cervical spine has to protect the neural components and vascular structures. Also, it must have the flexibility afforded by an extensive range of motion to integrate the head with the body and environment. Because of these two-sided features, human cervical spine has very complicated shapes and their injury mechanisms are not fully understood yet. We have developed analytical model of human CS by using the finite element method. The model has been verified with in vivo and in vitro experimental results. From the qualitative analysis of simulation results, we were able to explain some of the fundamental mechanisms of neck pain. Further more, this FE model of human CS can be used as an analytical tool or biomechanical design of the clinical device and safety restraints.

저속 후방 추돌 자원자 실험을 통한 두부와 경부의 동작분석 (Motion Analysis of Head and Neck of Human Volunteers in Low-Speed Rear Impact)

  • The purpose of this research is to obtain and analyze dynamic responses from human volunteers for the development of the human-like mechanical or mathematical model for Korean males in automotive rear collisions. This paper focused on the introduction to a low-speed rear impact sled test involving Korean male subjects, and the accumulation of the motion of head and neck. A total of 50 dynamic rear impact sled tests were performed with 50 human volunteers, who are 30-50 year-old males. Each subject can be involved in only one case to prevent any injury in which he was exposed to the impulse that was equivalent to a low-speed rear-end collision of cars at 5-8 km/h for change of velocity, so called, ${\Delta}V$. All subjects were examined by an orthopedist to qualify for the test through the medical check-up of their necks and low backs prior to the test. The impact device is the pendulum type, tuned to simulate the crash pulse of a real vehicle. All motions and impulses were captured and measured by motion capture systems and pressure sensors on the seat. Dynamic responses of head and T1 were analyzed in two cases(5 km/h, 8 km/h) to compare with the results in the previous studies. After the experiments, human subjects were examined to check up any change in the post medical analysis. As a result, there was no change in MRI and no injury reported. Six subjects experienced a minor stiffness on their back for no more than 2 days and got back to normal without any medical treatment.

  • 의공학은 의학 및 생물학적 이해를 바탕으로 공학적 기술을 이용하여 인체 질병을 진단하고 치료하는 학문이다. 올바른 의공학 교육을 위해서는 교육과정에 의학용어, 인체해부학, 인체 생리학 등의 교육이 필요하지만 학생들은 이들 의학 기초 과목들을 암기 과목이라는 선입견을 가지고 있다. 이러한 학생들의 선입견을 해소시키기 위해서는 다양한 교육방법을 개발하여 학생들이 기초의학 과목들에 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 의학용어 과목에 인체 반신 해부 모형의 관찰 실습을 도입하여 학습 효과를 높이는 방법을 제시한다. 인체 반신 모형은 여러가지 장기가 조립되어 있는 형태이며 하나씩 분해하면서 관찰할 수 있다. 본 관찰 실습은 머리, 목, 가슴, 복부 부위의 장기들에 대한 질문으로 구성하여 학생들이 조별로 답을 찾아가도록 구성하였다. 학생들은 실습 후 이 실습이 학습동기를 유발하고 강의의 이해를 쉽게 해 주었다고 평가하였다.

  • In this paper, a method of modeling seat belts on crew seat during dynamic seat testing was studied. The body segments of the occupant were modeled with joints. The joints consisted with various stiffnesses, dampings, and frictions. Three types of seat belt restraint systems were investigated. The analysis for on the injury assessment of helicopter's crew under drop impact was conducted. The effectiveness of the seat belt system for crashworthiness and safety was evaluated. As the results of impact analysis, head, neck and spine of the crew can be easily damaged in the vertical direction more than the longitudinal direction. Based on the verified model, behavior of human body was studied with three-point restraint systems. The displacement and injury level of the 12-point restraint system was the smallest.

사진 계측에 의한 아동의 동체 형상 분석(I) (An Analysis of Children's Torso Using Photographic Anthropometry)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the body type of children's, especially torso, and to provide the fundamental data for children's clothing construction which can reflect the characteristics of their bodies. The subjects for photographic measurements are 308 elementary school children aged from 6 to 8 living in Seoul and urban area. Anthropometric measurements were performed indirectly from the pictures of subjects. The data were analyzed statistically using SPSSWIN. The results obtained from this study are as follows: 1. Through one-way ANOVA, items for heights, breaths, weight reveals the significant differences according to ages and genders. 2. Through Pearson correlation, it turns out that there are high correlation between any items of heights, but there is no correlation for item of shoulder inclination with any other items. 3. Through factor analysis of principal component model, six factors were extracted which covers 83.6% of the whole information. The first factor represents the items of heights which relates with linearity. The second factor describes the items of breaths, depths, and weight in relation with laterality. The third factor were gathered with depths of front and back in relation with posture of side, which proves as important one to characterize the children's torso. The other factors represents the items of posture of neck, depths in neck, shoulder inclination, respectively. 4. Through one-way ANOVA in factor by group, and Scheffe multi comparison test for each group, the factor 1 that is related with linearity reveals the significant differences according to ages and genders.

후방추돌시 목상해를 고려한 승객거동해석 및 좌석설계 (Occupant Analysis and Seat Design to Reduce the Neck Injury for Rear End Impact)

  • Occupant injury in rear end impact is rapidly becoming one of the most aggravating traffic safety problems with high human suffering and societal costs. Although rear end impact occurs at relatively low speed , it may cause permanent disability due to neck injuries resulting from an abrupt moment, shear force , and tension/compression force at the occipital condyles. The analysis is performed for a combined occupant-eat model response, using the SAFE(Safety Analysis for occupant crash Environment) computer program. The computational results are verified by those from sled tests. A parameter study is conducted for many physical and mechanical properties. Seat design has been performed based on the design of experiment process with respect to five parameters; seat-back upholstery stiffness, torsional stiffness of the seat-back. An orthogonal array is selected from the parameter study. A good design has been found from the analysis results based on the orthogonal array. The results show that reductions of stiffness in seat-back upholstery and joint are the most effective for preventing neck injuries.

목 부분의 제거를 통한 얼굴 검출 향상 기법 (Improvement of Face Components Detection using Neck Removal)

  • 보통 사람의 정면과 측면 사진 등을 이용하여 3차원 얼굴 모델에 텍스처를 입히는 많은 연구들이 수행되어 오고 있다. 많은 좋은 결과들이 나타나고 있다. 정면 사진이나, 측면 사진에서 사람의 눈, 코 입 등의 위치를 정확히 추출하는 일은 이 작업에서 가장 중요한 요소라 할 것이다. 기존의 연구들은 눈의 위치 혹은 입이나 코의 위치를 대충 찾은 다음에 그 상관관계에 따라 얼굴의 각 요소를 추출해 내는 방법을 많이 쓰고 있다. 이 때 가장 문제가 되는 부분이 목 부분이 제대로 인식되어 얼굴 부분에서만 얼굴 요소를 찾으면 정확한 결과를 보이는데, 목 과 턱선의 구분의 불명확으로 나타난 경우에는 잘못된 결과를 보이고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 전체의 얼굴 영상에서 턱 아래 부분을 제거함으로써 얼굴 요소의 검출이 향상되도록 하는 알고리즘을 제시할 것이다. 턱 아래 부분의 완전한 제거를 위해 본 연구에서는 RGB값과 그 기울기를 이용하여 목 부분을 효율적으로 제거하는 방법을 제시할 것이다.
