  • A Human-Robot-Interface(HRI) for the disabled Person is developed. $\textbullet$ HRI consists of the laser pointer '||'&'||' USB camera and pressure sensor. $\textbullet$ HRI makes three degree of freedom. $\textbullet$ Three robot position control method with the Interface is presented. $\textbullet$ Experimental results show that user control the 6 DOF robot with the interface and control method.

  • This paper describes the evaluation of a force-reflecting interface with ultrasonic motors(USMs). The force-reflecting interface allows a human to feel object within virtual environment. To effectively display the mechanical impedance of the human hand we need a haptic device with specific characteristics, such as low inertia, almost zero friction and very high stiffness. USMs have attracted considerable attention as the actuator satisfied these conditions. USMs combine features such as high driving torque at low rotational speed, high holding torque and fast response therefore we studied two degree of freedom force-reflecting haptic system.

  • In the near future, robots will be used for the personal use. To provide useful services to humans, it will be necessary for robots to understand human intentions. Consequently, the development of emotional interfaces for robots is an important expansion of human-robot interactions. We designed and developed an intelligent emotional interface for the robot, and applied the interfaces to our humanoid robot, AMIET.   • The purpose of this study is to develop systematic methods for evaluating the suitability of a seat and build an empirical model for predicting the suitability of a seat. The following research schemes were pursued to achieve the objectives - Development of suitable chair dimensions - Analysis scheme for decomposing the human-product interface system - Development of model for evaluating suitability. As a result, we uncovered six dominant suitability dimensions for the design of a comfortable seat that is related to the physical dimension of a body, Here, six suitability dimensions were identified as the dimensions that represent the human sensitivity and psychological feeling on comfortable seats. Also, 43 human-interface elements (HIE's) such as seat height, seat width, seat depth, tilting angle, seat surface etc. were investigated. HIE was generally defined as the physical characteristic of manufacturing goods, and it had close related to the body dimension of a user and environment that it was used.

SIMULATOR-BASED HUMAN FACTORS EVALUATION OF AUTOMATED HIGHWAY SYSTEM

  • From a viewpoint of human factors, automated highway systems(AHS) can be defined as one of the newly developing human-machine systems that consist of humans(drivers and operators), machines(vehicles and facilities), and environments(roads and roadside environments). AHS will require a changed vehicle control process and driver-vehicle interface(DVI) comparing with conventional driving. This study introduces a fixed-based AHS simulator and provides questionnaire-based human factors evaluation results after three kinds of automated driving speed experiences in terms of road configuration, operation policies, information devices, and overall AHS use. In the simulator, the "shared space-at-grade" concept-based road configuration was virtually implemented on a portion of the Kyungbu highway in Korea, and heads-up display(HUD), AHS information display, and variable message signs(VMS) were installed for appropriate AHS DVI implementation. As the results, the subjects expressed positive opinions on the implemented road configuration, operation policies, and the overall use of AHS. The results of this study would be helpful in developing the road configuration and DVI design guideline as the basic human factors research for the future implementation of AHS.

  • 디지털 기술의 발전으로 컴퓨터와 정보 통신 기술이 결합하여 하나의 시스템에서 다매체 즉 인터그레이티드 미디어(Integrated media)를 가능케 하였다. 인터그레이티드 미디어는 통합적 미디어에 의한 정보 전달방법으로 인간의 정보 전달 체계와 가장 유사한 형태로 발전되어 왔다. 따라서 인터페이스 분야에서도 형태적인 발전에 따라 인간과 컴퓨터의 상호작용(Human Computer Interaction)이라는 중요한 테마로 발전하였다. 인터페이스의 형태적 발전은 디자인 분야에서도 재정립되고 있지만 많은 분야의 동시 접목과 제품개발에 있어 체계성 부족으로 활용이 지체되고 있다. 본 연구는 MP3 자판기 개발 사례를 바탕으로 정보전달 형태 개발을 위한 요소들을 재구성함으로써 인터페이스의 새로운 모델을 구축하기 위한 시도이다. 체계적인 분류를 위하여 인터페이스를 인지적인 면과 조형적인 면을 분류하고, 하드웨어와 소프트웨어로 분류하여 누구나 쉽게 이해할 수 있도록 정립하였으며, 결과적으로 새로운 통합적 인터페이스(Integrated Interface)의 패러다임(Paradigm)을 제시함으로써 디자인의 새로운 방향 즉 통합적 아이덴티티를 구축을 위한 기본 틀을 제시하였다.
