  • The structure of noble centered social status of the late Joseon Dynasty collapsed due to the commoner's higher status and increased level of consciousness caused by the growth of commerce and agriculture. In art, the a Korean and ethnical style dominated; however, with a diversity in the depiction of human figures in portraits, Buddhist paintings, genre paintings and folklore paintings. This study examines the diversity in human figures expressed in the paintings of the late Joseon Dynasty by expanding the common aesthetic fixed to the typical Joseon style of renowned painters. The conclusion of this study is as follows. The human figure is categorized into three different types of 'realistic', 'ideal', and 'distortion' based on the aesthetic category. First, the realistic type is defined literally by its realistic and detailed depiction of noble class portraits classified as extreme type and general type. The extreme type's formative element is hypersubtlety which includes a simultaneous aesthetic of aptness and ugliness. The general type shows subtlety with aesthetic of aptness. Second, the ideal type is defined by representing the standard form of time and criteria classified as beautified type, absolute type, and dignified type. Each shows a different character of gender of femininity, androgyny, and masculinity. Third, distortion types are defined by a characteristic expression of humans by transshaping the features in various methods categorized as grotesque, abjection, friendly, rustic, and caricature type. Each shows different formative elements of bizarre, patheticness, voluptuous, inartificial, and immaturity.

  • The object recognition mechanism of human being is not well understood yet. On research of animal experiment using an ape, however, neurons that respond to simple shape (e.g. circle, triangle, square and so on) were found. And Hypothesis has been set up as human being may recognize object as combination of such simple shapes. That mechanism is called Figure Alphabet Hypothesis, and those simple shapes are called Figure Alphabet. As one way to research object recognition algorithm, we focused attention to this Figure Alphabet Hypothesis. Getting idea from it, we proposed the feature extraction algorithm for object recognition. In this paper, we described recognition of binarized images of multifont alphabet characters by the recognition model which combined three-layered neural network in the feature extraction algorithm. First of all, we calculated the difference between the learning image data set and the template by the feature extraction algorithm. The computed finite difference is a feature quantity of the feature extraction algorithm. We had it input the feature quantity to the neural network model and learn by backpropagation (BP method). We had the recognition model recognize the unknown image data set and found the correct answer rate. To estimate the performance of the contriving recognition model, we had the unknown image data set recognized by a conventional neural network. As a result, the contriving recognition model showed a higher correct answer rate than a conventional neural network model. Therefore the validity of the contriving recognition model could be proved. We'll plan the research a recognition of natural image by the contriving recognition model in the future.

  • Lu Xun was closely bounded with art since he was young, and he had a thorough knowledge of art. This treatise discerned how Lu Xun substituted and expressed his emotion through his work of art, and what was characteristic of his selection and combination of colors. Truly, color is related to statement of human mind. Lu Xun expressed certain color either consciously or unconsciously when he created human figure. The group of black in human figure in his art is representative example of it. Lu Xun always used heavy and dark color to emphasize human figure so that people can assume their lives and character. This artistic mentality or, great choice of art, relates to Lu Xun's individual life and state of mind. However, Lu Xun did not always choose dark color. Sometimes he looked squarely at darkness and tried to pursue bright color presupposing 'hope' at the same time.

  • The suitability of the pattern manufactured with the development figure was considered by reviewing the development conditions that can be directly connected to the basic pattern in the human body surface development figure with the cast bandage method. The method to prepare the sleeve basic pattern was based on the cylindrical surface development method, and the sleeve basic pattern covering the 45 and 90 degrees momentum of the arm-movement was made by using the cast-type body surface development figure prepared with the horizontal line of the sleeve hem placed horizontally in the plan and by combining the cast-type body surface development figure in the standing position with the figure in the moving position. The test clothing was prepared with the sleeve pattern adding the bodice pattern in the standing position and the momentum and was worn on the FRP replica. The relationship theory of the body surface development figure with the pattern was derived by reviewing the suitability from the wearing state. The sleeve-cap height of the sleeve basic pattern resulted in about 80% in the standing position when the needs for a physical activity are 45 degrees and the about 50% when the needs for a physical activity are 90 degrees. The additional size of the diagonal length of the sleeve-cap could be set as "0" if the sleeve-cap height is low by 50% and as 50% of the additional size in the standing position if the sleeve-cap height is 80%.

  • This study analyzed the factors of change of women's underwear in the Renaissance, which had a sudden change of shape. First, the spirit of the Renaissance was focused on human-attached importance to glamorous beauty of the body and pursued the glamorous well-proportioned figure as the ideal of the human body. This expressed a woman's beautiful curved lines by reduction of their waist size and emphasis of breast and hip lines. It also created and emphasized one's physical figure, which is a characteristic of sex. Also the materials and size of underwear cleared up the classification of class. Second, through the development of weaving techniques, more textiles were produced, from linen, the most common material used, to silk in underwear and stomacher, and chemise, which was made more splendid be devising elaborate embroidery techniques. Third, as we know that the farthingale was devised in Spain and transmitted to France because of the prevalence of printing and trade, where it changed and developed to more convenient style, this shows that information interchange was active, and we can see the phenomenon that it is developing continually through the prevalence of printing and trade.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the changes brought by the upper body form using a three-dimensional human body measurement the gypsum method. The developed plane figure was constructed using paper replica to analyze the dimensional shape of the upper torso and to be able to design clothes suitable for elderly women's physical characteristics. The characteristics are analyzed and compared with existing patterns in order to extract the components for the pattern design. The examination was carried out based on the developed plane figures of upper body surface replicas. Type 1, the bent-forward body form, has a wide gap on the shoulder. In Type 2, the gap of waist line was wide at angulus scapulae point. Type 3 was the thin body form, and the girth of the chest, front interscye breadth and back interscye breadth were more level with one another, compared to the other types. In Type 4, the bent-backward body form, there was a wide gap on front shoulder. Comparison with the developed plane figure and existed pattern, items revealed differences in significance included the front and back interscye width between the measured values of the existed patterns and the developed plane figure. Therefore, the basic components of basic bodice pattern for old women were determined in the up-bust circumference and length of the back.

  • As science and technology has developed, human could be flourished especially at the aspect of agriculture and medicine. However, the traditional knowledge of them has stopped being used, which leads to extinctions of it. Korea National Arboretum had surveyed the ethnobotanical uses of Gangwon-do from 2006 to 2017. 522 taxa were defined as ethnoplants through 21469 sheets thanks to 355 respondents who composed 279 females, 73 males and three refused to answer. Analysis of ethnoplants had conducted to provide the excavation of the new plants for industries of agriculture and medication, as well as the evidence for protection of TK and benefit derived from it. Aster scaber Thunb. had been found as the most citated taxa by 0.6591 RFC figure, Pinus desiflora Seibold & Zucc. was found to have the extensive categories of use. Aralia elata (Miq.) Seem. showed the highest figure of CI value. In the index of RI, Pinus desiflora Seibold & Zucc. appeared again, as well as CV, cultural value. For evaluation of the usages of ethnoplants IAR figures are analyzed. The fiber has shown the biggest figure of IAR, despite the dyes are placed the smallest figure.

  • A human face figure is a visual symbol of identity. Each different face per person is a critical information differentiating each person from others and it directly relates to individual identity. When we look back human history, historical change of recognition for a face led to the change of expression and communication media and it in turn caused many changes in expressing a face. However, there has not been no time period when people pay attention to a face more than this time. Technically, the advent of computer graphics opened new turning point in expressing human face figure. Especially, a visual image which can be produced, saved, and transferred in digital has no limitation in time and space, and its importance in communication is getting higher and higher. Among those visual image information, a face image in digital is getting more applications. Therefore, 3d (3-dimensional) expression of a face using computer graphics can be easily produced without any professional techniques, just like assembling puzzle parts composed of the shape of each part ands texture map, etc. This study presents a method with which a general visual designer can effectively express 3d type face by studying each producing step of 3d face expression and by visualizing case study based on the above-mentioned study result.
