An experimental device was developed for analysis of hydraulic oil characteristics with dielectric constant sensors. Online analysis is the most effective method of the three methods used for analyzing lubricant oils. This is because it can monitor the machine condition effectively using oil sensors in real time without requiring excellent analysis skill and eliminates human errors. Determining the oil quality usually requires complex laboratory equipment for measuring factors such as density, viscosity, base number, acid number, water content, additive, and wear debris. However, the electric constant is another indicator of oil quality that can be measured on-site. The electric constant is the ratio of the capacitance of a capacitor using that material as a dielectric, compared with a similar capacitor that has a vacuum as its dielectric. The electric constant affects the factors such as the base oil, additive, temperature, electric field frequency, water content, and contaminants. In this study, the tendency of the electric constant is investigated with a variation of temperature, water content, and dust weight. The experimental device can control working temperature and mix the contaminants with oil. A machine condition monitoring program developed to analyze hydraulic oil is described. This program provides graph and digital values with variation of time. Moreover, it includes an alarm system for when the oil condition is bad.

The photoconductive multilayer composed of glassy, porous, and fine-grained layers was fabdricated with Se and Sb2S3 by vacuum evaporation in order to be used as vidicon target. And its electrical, optical properties were investigatee. The fabrication conditions were as follow: the glassy layer was first deposited to have the thickness of 6500 \ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. High photosensitivity(\ulcorner=1) was obtained but its shortcoming was high dielectric constant. Therefore, the porous layer was added to lower dielectric constant and had 7500\ulcornerthick in the argon gas ambikent of 7x10-\ulcorner And the fine-grained layer was formed to prevent secondary electron emission and obtain good resolution. Its thickness was about 1700\ulcorner For the given vidicon target, the light transfer characteristic, that is, photosensitivity (\ulcorner) was measured to be 0.8 at the applied voltage of 25V. The spectral sensitivity was quite similar to that of the human eyes.

Dielectric properties and shape memory characteristics of SBS composites filled with carbon black as conductive filler and (Ba,Ca)$(Sn,Ti)O_3$ or $SrTiO_3$ as dielectrics were investigated for the development of phantom model. SBS/carbon black composite showed an increment of complex dielectric constant with increasing the content of carbon black and the frequency dependence that the dielectric constant decreases with the frequency. The complex dielectric constant and the conductivity of SBS/carbon black/dielectrics composites increased with the increase of dielectrics and the characteristics of the frequency dependence also occurred by the effect of carbon black. Phantom materials with the dielectric properties and the conductivity corresponding to human tissues for the measurement of specific absorption rate(SAR) within the frequency range of current mobile phones(775MHz~2GHz) could be developed by adjusting the composition ratios of carbon black, dielectrics and SBS and by controlling the characteristic of frequency dependence of composite. From thermomechanical cycling test good shape recoverability could be obtained in SBS composite even though the residual strain was increased by the effect of filler.

In this paper, a new equation of electromagnetic wave transmission matrix was proposed to calculate the reflected power and transmitted power for the multi-layered planar lossy structure. The applied human leg was modeled as a four-layer planar structure of skin, fat, muscle and bone. The complex dielectric constant to consider the loss of each of these layers was calculated using the 4-pole cole-cole model parameter. When electromagnetic waves were incident on the skin surface, total reflected and transmitted power, and human body loss were calculated for a frequency band of 0.1 to 20.0 GHz. And for various muscle thicknesses, the power reflected only from the outermost bone and re-radiated from the skin was calculated. It was confirmed that at the muscle thickness of 3.0 mm and the frequency of 4.6 GHz the return loss was -6.13 dB, which was 3.42 dB lower than the average value.

In this paper, in order to exclude the influence of BAN(Body Area Network) signals operating in the ISM band, the design and optimization process of an on-body microstrip patch antenna operating at 4.567 GHz is presented. The antenna for the monitoring of the lower legs with cancellous osteoporosis is designed to be lightweight and compact with improved return loss and bandwidth. The structure around the applied lower leg consisted of a five-layer dielectric plane. Taking into account losses, the complex dielectric constant of each layer is calculated using multi Cole-Cole model parameters, whereas a unipolar model is used for normal or osteoporotic cancellous bones. The return loss of the coaxial feed antenna on the phantom is -67.26 dB at 4.567 GHz, and in the case of osteoporosis, at the same frequency the return loss difference is 35.88 dB, and the resonance frequency difference is about 7 MHz.

The near field radiated from the monopole antenna of the cellular phone was calculated by using the modified finite difference time domain algorithm derived from the integral form of Maxwell's equations. Substituting the near field value into the differential form of Maxwell's equations, SAR's distribution in the human head was obtained. The human head was simulated by a model of 800,000 block cells with dielectric constant and conductivity. The cell size was taken to be 0.5 cm. the transmitted power of the cellular phone was assumed to be 0.6 watts at the frequency of 833 MHz. The distance between the head and the cellular phone was 2.0 cm, the maximum SAR induced in the human head was about 1.5 W/kg and was below the IEEE's upper safety limit of 1.6 W/kg.
In recent years, wireless communication technologies in human body have received an increasing attention and the research on an antenna that can be worn also has been actively conducted. In this paper, an wearable antenna that can receive GPS signal frequency is proposed. The antenna was manufactured by using a copper polyester fabric with thickness of 0.08mm as a radiator and a ground plate, and a goatskin with thickness of 0.7mm as dielectric substrate. Cutting edges placed in diagonal direction of square patch in order to obtain a circular polarization characteristic, and the conductive cloth and leather was laminated by using a conductive epoxy. First, goatskin dielectric constant was obtained through the simulation and measurement of resonance frequency of the three square patch antennas with different size. On the basis of the results, an antenna operating in the GPS band was designed and the performance of the antenna was validated by making the experiment. The change of the characteristic of the antenna that is located on the shoulder parts of the clothing and wearing person were measured. And it was confirmed that the reception sensitivity has a similar level as compared to the commercially produced ceramic GPS antenna.

This paper presents design and specific absorption rate analysis of a 2.4 GHz wearable patch antenna on a conventional and electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) ground planes, under normal and bent conditions. Wearable materials are used in the design of the antenna and EBG surfaces. A woven fabric (Zelt) is used as a conductive material and a 3 mm thicker Wash Cotton is used as a substrate. The dielectric constant and tangent loss of the substrate are 1.51 and 0.02 respectively. The volume of the proposed antenna is $113{\times}96.4{\times}3mm^3$. The metamaterial surface is used as a high impedance surface which shields the body from the hazards of electromagnetic radiations to reduce the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR). For on-body analysis a three layer model (containing skin, fats and muscles) of human arm is used. Antenna employing the EBG ground plane gives safe value of SAR (i.e. 1.77W/kg<2W/kg), when worn on human arm. This value is obtained using the safe limit of 2 W/kg, averaged over 10g of tissue, specified by the International Commission of Non Ionization Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). The SAR is reduced by 83.82 % as compare to the conventional antenna (8.16 W/kg>2W/kg). The efficiency of the EBG based antenna is improved from 52 to 74 %, relative to the conventional counterpart. The proposed antenna can be used in wearable electronics and smart clothing.

In case of environment requiring safety such as human body and requiring flexible shape, a conventional mechanical actuator system does not satisfy requirement. Therefore, in order to solve this problem, a research of various smart material such as EAP (Electro Active Polymer), EAC (Electro Active Ceramic) and SMA (Shape Memory Alloy) is in progress. Recently, the highest preferring material among various smart material is EP (Electrostictive Polymer), because it has very fast response time, poerful force and large displacement. The previous researches have been studied properties of polymer and simple control, but present researches are studied a polymer actuator. An EP (Electostrictive Polymer) actuator has properties which change variably as shape and environmental condition. Therefore, in order to coincide with a user's purpose, it is important not only to decide a shape of actuator and mechanical design but also to investigate a efficient controller. In this paper, we constructed the control logic with an adaptive fuvy algorithm which depends on the physical properties of EP that has a dielectric constant depending on time.
