  • In recent years, road cutting work has been frequently performed for the repair of old road pavement and the development of underground space. However, the existing pavement cutting machine in Korea generates a lot of noise and dust. In this study, it was found out that the pavement cutting machine that cuts off noise and sucks cutting dust is used in overseas. Therefore, in this study, the concept of eco - friendly pavement cutter suitable for domestic situation is derived. The results will be used in prototype modeling and experimentation.

  • The environmental impact of the KEPCO 765-kV transmission line was studied using a full scale test line in order to develop the design technology. Therefore this paper describes an environmental design summary of the audible noise, hum noise, wind noise, radio interference, TV interference and electric field measurement from the KEPRI 765-kV double circuit transmission test line with a bundle of $6-480mm^2$ conductors per phase. The analysis of the test results shows that 6-Rail and 6-Cardinal conductors bundle satisfy the audible noise criterion & TV interference under the stable rainy weather condition and the radio interference level under the fair weather. And the other items are also agreed with the design level criterion for KEPCO 765-kV transmission line.

  • Recently, road cutting works are frequently performed to repair aging underground utilities. However, the conventional road pavement cutting equipment in Korea generates a lot of noise and dust, and the development of high performance and eco-friendly equipment is required. This study classifies road cutting work and analyzes its work characteristics before improving road cutting machine. The classification and analysis results of this study will be used for the future productivity analysis and evaluation of road cutter developed.

  • A gravity meter has been used for exploring subsurface mineral resources and monitoring long-period events such as Earth tides. Recently, researchers found several other intriguing features that we could even detect large teleseismic earthquakes and monitor seismic ambient noise using gravimeters. The zero-length spring suspension technology gives the gPhone (Micro-g LaCoste) excellent low frequency sensitivity, which may have implications for investigating much longer-period natural events (e.g., Earth's hum, tsunami waves, etc.). In this study, we present preliminary results through temporary operation of the gPhone at Geumsan in South Korea for 9 months (Nov. 2008-Jul. 2009). The gPhone successfully recorded large teleseismic events and showed a clear seasonal variation of the Double frequency microseisms during its operation period.

  • Analytical signal from ICP was compensated by the light scattering of sample aerosols. Reference scattering signal was generated by a He-Ne or diode laser, monitored for the amount of aerosol producing and used for the compensation of analytical signals. The result showed that significant improvement in precision could be achieved for the short-term signal (within 1 minute) from 3.4% to 0.9% RSD in signal and 14.9% to 4.2% for the long-term (10 minutes) for Be, Pb and Co. This method is very useful not only for the pulse type but for continuous type signals especially when a nebulizer is unstable. To improve long-term precision, higher stability is required in the scattering cell and detector as well as the reduction of noise from the line between a nebulizer and plasma.
