  • Numerical simulations are made for the three-dimensional flow around a wing in ground effect craft haying the complex geometry. A numerical tool is developed for the primary design of hull and wing shape of practical Wing-In-Ground effect(WIG) stop. The finite-difference method is utilized to descretize the governing equations and pressure field is obtained by using Marker-And-Cell(MAC) method. The air and water flows are simultaneously simulated in the time-marching solution procedure for the Navier-Stokes equation. The porosity technique and the density function are devised for the implementation of the three-dimensional body-boundary and the free-surface conditions, respectively. In this paper, a craft is modeled simply by three blocks containing a wing mounted on a main body horizontally, with the endplate. The numerical calculations of a WIG advancing in a calm water are performed and the WIG-generated wave profiles are also obtained. In the final paper, details of the numerical methods employed for the present study and calculated results are discussed.

  • 도금 시뮬레이션의 목적은 실제 도금 상황에서의 전류밀도 및 도금두께 분포를 정확히 예측하여 최상의 품질과 최적의 공정조건을 확립하는데 있다. 제품에 부착된 도금 두께는 기하학적 배치에 의한 저항 (1차 전류밀도), 전기화학적 전하교환 반응에 의한 분극 (2차 전류밀도) 및 확산, 유동 등 도금물질의 공급에 의한 분극(3차 전류밀도)에 의해 결정이 된다. 현재까지 도금 시뮬레이션은 1차 전류밀도 예측에 대한 전자기학적 해석과 Butler-Volmer 식에 근거한 동력학적 전기화학 해석을 통해 2차 전류밀도 분포 해석만 이루어졌다. 즉, 도금 반응에 있어서 물질공급은 항상 일정하게 유지되는 것을 가정하고 해석을 하였다. 이는 3차 전류밀도 분포에 있어서 전극반응 계면에서의 유동에 의한 물질공급이 전기화학과는 다른 물리(physics) 영역이어서 이를 전기화학과 coupling 하는데 기술적으로 어렵기 때문이었다. 그러므로, 물질공급반응이 속도결정단계가 되는 고속도금이나 저농도 도금, gap, tranch, via hole, through hole 등의 도금의 경우에는 해석결과에 큰 오차를 야기하게 된다. 본 발표에서는 그동안 접근하지 못했던 전기도금 해석에 있어서 유동해석을 커플링하여 다중물리해석을 한 결과를 발표한다. 시편으로는 회전원판전극과 회전 헐셀을 이용하여 회전속도 (rpm)에 따른 전류밀도 및 도금두께 분포의 변화 거동을 예측하였다.

Dynamic Response of Container Ship Subjected to Bow flare Slamming Loads

  • The wave impact on ships could cause local damage to the ship's hull, which has been a concerning issue during the ship design process. In recent years, local structural damages of ships caused by slamming loads have been reported by accident; therefore, it is necessary to study the local slamming pressure loads and structural response assessment. In the present study, slamming loads around the ship's bow region in the presence of regular wave have been simulated by RANS equations discretized with a cell-centered finite volume method (FVM) in conjunction with the $k-{\Box}$ turbulence model. The dynamic structural response has been calculated using an explicit FE method. By adding the slamming pressure load of each time step to the finite element model, establishing the reasonable boundary conditions, and considering the material strain-rate effects, the dynamic response prediction of the bow flare structure has been achieved. The results and insights of this study will be helpful to design a container ship that is resistant enough to withstand bow flare slamming loads.

플러그 셀의 크기와 배지(培地) 조성이 토마토 삽목묘(揷木苗)의 발근(發根)과 생육(生育)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effect of Plug Cell Volume and Medium Composition on Rooting and Growth of Lateral Shoot Cuttings of Tomato Plant)

  • 종자(種子) 파종에 의한 토마토 실생묘(實生苗)를 대체하고 반드시 제거(除去)해야하는 측지(側枝)를 이용한 삽목묘(揷木苗)를 다량생산(多量生産)하여 종자수입을 대체하고 공정육묘의 가능성을 검토하기 위하여 본(本) 시험(試驗)을 수행(遂行)하였다. 처리는 관행 삽목상과 배지용량 23mL인 트레이 128구부터 300mL 용량의 직경 8cm 비닐폿트를 이용하여 삽목하였다. 그리고 배지의 조성은 훈탄단용과 훈탄과 펄라이트, 훈탄과 피트모스, 펄라이트와 피트모스를 혼용하여 이용하였다. 토마토 삽목묘(揷木苗)의 생육량(生育量)은 배지용량(培地容量)이 120mL 이상으로 증가되어도 크게 영향을 받지 않았다. 그러나 배지 용량이 감소되어 플러그 수가 증가되면 묘(苗)의 생육은 저하되었으나 23mL 용량의 128구 플러그 트레이에서도 정상적인 묘(苗)가 생산되었다. 배지용량이 감소되면 지상부보다 지하부중이 크게 감소되었다. 토마토 측지삽목묘(側枝揷木苗)의 생육은 방울토마토 뻬뻬가 완숙토마토 모모타로 품종보다 양호하고 T/R율이 높았으며, 발근율(發根率)도 뻬뻬 품종은 100%였으나 모모타로는 90% 수준(水準)이었다. 배지용량과 배지종류에 관계없이 삽목후(揷木後) 15-20일경에 정식 가능한 묘가 생산되었다. 삽목 육묘용(育苗用) 배지(培地)의 조성이 발근(發根)과 근발달(根發達)에 미치는 영향은 처리간(處理間)에 유의차(有意差)가 인정되지 않았다.

비타민 E와 불포화 지방과의 관계 - 들깨유(油)를 중심으로 한 동물의 비교 연구 - (Relationship between Vitamin E and Polyunsaturated Fat - A comparative animal study emphasizing perilla seed oil as a fat constituent -)

  • Perilla (frutescens) seed oil, which is widely used as a source of vegetable oil in Korea, contains a strikingly large amount (58.4% of total fatty acids) of polyunsaturated linolenic acid (18 : 3) which is one of the essential fatty acids. Our hypothesis was that vitamin E contained in this oil would not be enough to prevent peroxidation of this polyunsaturated oil. A comparative study was carried out using rats and chicks devided into seven groups with various diet combinations emphasizing fat sources for the period of four weeks. The level of fat in each diet was 15% and animals were fed ad libitum. Various diet combinations were as follows; perilla seed oil and sesame seed oil with and without vitamin E supplementation, tallow as a saturated fat source and perilla seed hull group (10% at the expense of carbohydrate). The fat constituents of control group were consisted of 50% vegetable oil and 50% animal fat. A few important findings are as follows: 1. Rats fed perilla seed oil lost their hair focally around the neck and suffered from a bad skin lesion at the same place. In chicks, yellow pigmentation both of feather and of skin was clearly observed only in groups fed perilla seed oil with or without vitamin E supplementation. The basis of biochemical mechanisms of this phenomena remains as an important research interest. 2. The mean value for hematocrit was significantly lower for the chicks fed perilla seed oil than for those fed control diet. This result seems to be attributable to the effect on the red cell membrane known as peroxidation-hemolysis of vitamin E deficiency. 3. The serum cholesterol level was higher for the rats fed perilla seed oil than for those fed control diet, whereas in chicks the group fed perilla seed oil showed lower value than the control group indicating that different animal species could vary in their responses to the same diet. 4. In pathological examinations, the sign of hepatic fibrosis was seen in the perilla seed hull group and it was noticeable that the level of hepatic RNA was significantly increased in the rat recovering from vitamin E deficiency. It is hoped that more detailed studies on perilla seed oil and hulls will soon be carried out in many aspects especially i) at various levels of fat in the diet, ii) in relation to dietary selenium level and iii) to find an optimum level of dietary essential fatty acids in terms of P/S ratio using various animal species. In the mean time, the public should be informed to preserve this particular oil with care to minimize fatty acid oxidation and should be discouraged from overconsuming this oil. 유자씨 추출물의 생리활성과 암세포 성장 억제효과 (Physiological Activity and Antiproliferation Effects of Citron Seed Extracts on Cancer Cells)

  • 유자씨 종피와 배유부분에 대한 n-hexane 및 ethanol 추출물에 대한 항산화활성, ACE 저해활성, $\alpha$-glucosidase 억제활성 및 항암활성을 살펴보았다. 항산화활성은 종피 nhexane 추출물(CSH1), 배유 n-hexane 추출물(CSH2), 종피 70% ethanol 추출물(CSE1) 및 배유 70% ethanol 추출물(CSE2) 가운데 CSE1이 가장 높은 활성을 나타내었으며, CSE1의 용매분획물 가운데 ethylacetate 층이 2 mg/mL의 농도에서 라디칼소거능이 73.81% 그리고 총항산화력이 56.64 mg AA eq/g으로 우수한 항산화활성을 나타내었다. 또한 ACE 저해활성과 $\alpha$-glucosidase 억제활성도 CSE1이 각각 31.63% 및 45.17%로 가장 높은 활성을 나타내었다. 각각의 추출물에 대한 유방암, 간암, 폐암, 대장암 및 전립선암 세포에 대한 증식억제효과는 모든 암세포에 대하여 5mg/mL의 농도에서 종피 ethanol 추출물(CSE1)이 가장 높은 암세포 증식억제효과를 보였다.

The Use of Lupins in Feeding Systems - Review -

  • The seed, or grain, of modern cultivars of Lupinus angustifolius, commonly known as Australian sweet lupins (ASL), is an established feed resource for the intensive animal industries of Australia, Japan, Korea and several other countries in Asia and Europe. Since the introduction of ASL to the world marketplace about 25 years ago, researchers in many countries have found them to be a valuable component of the diet of beef and dairy cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry, finfish and crustaceans. The seed of ASL contains ~32% crude protein (CP) (~35% DM basis) and 5% oil. The main storage carbohydrates in the seed are the ${\beta}$-galactans that comprise most of the cell-wall material of the kernel and the cellulose and hemicellulose of the thick seed coats. ASL seeds contain about 40% non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) and a negligible amount of starch. This makes them an excellent ingredient for ruminant diets, as the risk of acidosis is very low. The seed of modern cultivars of domesticated Lupinus species contain negligible amounts of lectins and trypsin inhibitors so they do not require preheating before being used as an ingredient in feeds for monogastric species. They have a high digestibility coefficient for protein, >90% for most species, but a low energy digestibility, ~60%, which is mostly due to the high content of NSP. The low content of methionine (0.22%) and of lysine (1.46%) is typical of the legumes. The lysine availability for pigs is >70%. Lupin kernels contain ~39% CP (~42% DM basis), 6% oil and 30% NSP. They have a higher digestible energy for pigs and finfish and a higher metabolisable energy for poultry than whole seed. Commercial operations rarely achieve complete separation of kernel from hull and it is more likely that the kernel fraction, called splits or meats, will contain ~36% CP. The replacement of soybean meal or peas with ASL in cereal-based diets for most intensively reared animals, birds and fish is possible provided lysine, methionine and digestible energy levels are kept constant. This makes ASL economically competitive in many, but not all, circumstances.

  • 국제해사기구 IMO에서 추진하는 e-Navigation 전략에는 육상 사용자와 해상 사용자간에 다양한 해사안전정보의 데이터 커뮤니케이션을 위한 네트워크의 중요성에 대해 정의되어 있으며 이러한 네트워크를 통해 앞으로도 대용량, 다종류의 해양공간정보 서비스 제공이 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 그러나 현재 해양안전공간정보로 사용되고 있는 전자해도의 경우 측량 후 최종사용자에게 도달하기 까지 1년의 시간이 걸리기 때문에 보다 신속히 사용자의 요구사항을 만족시키기 위해 데이터베이스의 공간정보를 활용할 수 있도록 본 연구에서는 S-100 범용표준에서 사용하고 있는 SD 공간정보 간소화를 실시하였다. 간소화를 위해 지도 일반화 기법인 Douglas-Peucker 알고리즘을 사용하였으며 하였으며, 컨벡스 헐과 트리 노드를 이용하여 정확도를 높이고 결과물을 범용으로 사용될 수 있는 XML 형태로 저장함에 따라 나타날 수 있는 효율성 및 효과에 대해 정리하였다.

${\alpha}$-Mangostin Reduced ER Stress-mediated Tumor Growth through Autophagy Activation

  • ${\alpha}$-Mangostin is a xanthon derivative contained in the fruit hull of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana L.), and the administration of ${\alpha}$-Mangostin inhibited the growth of transplanted colon cancer, Her/CT26 cells which expressed Her-2/neu as tumor antigen. Although ${\alpha}$-Mangostin was reported to have inhibitory activity against sarco/endoplasmic reticulum $Ca^{2+}$ ATPase like thapsigargin, it showed different activity for autophagy regulation. In the current study, we found that ${\alpha}$-Mangostin induced autophagy activation in mouse intestinal epithelial cells, as GFP-LC3 transgenic mice were orally administered with 20 mg/kg of ${\alpha}$-Mangostin daily for three days. However, the activation of autophagy by ${\alpha}$-Mangostin did not significantly increase OVA-specific T cell proliferation. As we assessed ER stress by using XBP-1 reporter system and phosphorylation of $eIF2{\alpha}$, thapsigargin-induced ER stress was significantly reduced by ${\alpha}$-Mangostin. However, coadministration of thapsigargin with ${\alpha}$-Mangostin completely blocked the antitumor activity of ${\alpha}$-Mangostin, suggesting ER stress with autophagy blockade accelerated tumor growth in mouse colon cancer model. Thus the antitumor activity of ${\alpha}$-Mangostin can be ascribable to the autophagy activation rather than ER stress induction.

직교격자 기반 수치기법을 이용한 부가저항 해석 (Analysis of Added Resistance using a Cartesian-Grid-based Computational Method)

  • In this paper, an Euler equation solver based on a Cartesian-grid method and non-uniform staggered grid system is applied to predict the ship motion response and added resistance in waves. Water, air, and solid domains are identified by a volume-fraction function for each phase and in each cell. For capturing the interface between air and water, the tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing (THINC) scheme is used with a weighed line interface calculation (WLIC) method. The volume fraction of solid body embedded in a Cartesian-grid system is calculated by a level-set based algorithm, and the body boundary condition is imposed by volume weighted formula. Added resistance is calculated by direct pressure integration on the ship surface. Numerical simulations for a Wigley III hull and an S175 containership in regular waves have been carried out to validate the newly developed code, and the ship motion responses and added resistances are compared with experimental data. For S175 containership, grid convergence test has been conducted to investigate the sensitivity of grid spacing on the motion responses and added resistances.
